This wasn't the first time Lewis had claimed a correlation between crime with football. In 2011, when NFL owners locked out the players, he told ESPN he believed crime would increase if the lockout lasted into the regular season. "Do this research if we don’t have a season — watch how much evil, which we call crime, watch how much crime picks up if you take away our game,” Lewis said.

The Maryland Stadium Authority has increased security around the Ray Lewis statue outside M&T Bank Stadium after the former All-Pro linebacker joined Ravens players in kneeling during the national anthem, which spurred an on-line petition to remove the 3-year-old landmark. The petition on change.org has received more than 50,000 signatures as of Thursday morning.

Extra security has been added near the statue of retired Ravens star Ray Lewis at M&T Bank Stadium after he joined current players Sunday in kneeling during the national anthem, provoking calls to remove the likeness. As of mid-afternoon Wednesday, more than 36,000 people had signed an online petition on change.org that advocates for the removal of the Lewis statue “because of his refusal to stand during the National Anthem.
  • Ray Lewis: Colin Kaepernick's girlfriend cost him a job in Baltimore (with racist tweet)

Ray Lewis has added an interesting new twist to the ongoing question of why Colin Kaepernick isn’t playing for the Baltimore Ravens right now. In Lewis’s words, Kaepernick’s girlfriend is the problem. Speaking on Showtime’s “Inside the NFL,” Lewis discussed conversations he and Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti had regarding Kaepernick. “We were talking about giving this kid an opportunity to get back in the National Football League,” Lewis said. “I have been fighting for this kid behind the table like nobody has … I’ve never been against Colin Kaepernick. But I am against the way he’s done it.” Bisciotti said...
  • Ray Lewis on Meeting w/ Trump

Not sure how many people saw this and I didn't see it posted so I wanted it to get some visibility. The race hucksters are not happy about the meeting with Jim Brown and Ray Lewis. They are deathly afraid that Trump can make serious in roads into the black community. Obama is starting to feel like he is no longer the President (which is probably why he's yelling about Russia now) and interviews like this is probably a big part of that.

(Great 2min Video - CNN racist baiter gets slapped down by Jim Brown. He seems like a class act - comes across very sincere. He made that CNN b***h look like a pathetic fool. The donkeys must be terrified with people like Jim Brown and Ray Lewis flocking to Trump)

Of course. “Dan, you have no evidence whatsoever that ESPN fired them because of their Christianity.” You’re right. I don’t. It’s possible they didn’t and I certainly can’t prove they did. But here’s what I do know: ESPN has already proved it will fire people who are outspoken in the expression of views that don’t comport to the left-wing worldview that ESPN either a) holds; or b) intends to appease at every opportunity.

There's a popular, alluring and completely mythical theme that surfaces every time an unarmed black person is killed by police, or if there is a spike in murders in poverty-stricken urban areas, or both. It goes something like this: "If Black Lives Matter, then how come they don't matter when it comes to black-on-black crime?" The latest famous face to push that theme? None other than Ray Lewis, one of the most popular athletes in the history of Baltimore, which is also one of the most crime-ridden cities that also was thrown into turmoil by a death in police custody

Powerful. This is one of those posts where you’d only detract from its power if you said much, so I’m not going to say much. If you’re not a football fan and you don’t instantly recognize Ray Lewis, he recently retired after a certain Hall of Fame career with the Baltimore Ravens. He’s had his own scrapes with the law. He doesn’t claim to be a perfect man, but you can’t watch this and fail to recognize that he’s speaking directly from his heart. I’ll leave it at that. Click the image to watch.

One Ray Lewis of the Baltimore Ravens opened his mouth and put one big ‘ole foot in it today when he said, “Watch how much evil, which we call crime, watch how much crime picks up if you take away our game.” (Link to a story on the interview here) Uh, pardon me? I hate to be the one to break it to Mr. Lewis, but, see, Americans only get “our game” from, what, August to the first Sunday in February every year. That’s six months. What does he think we’re doing the other six months of the year? Here...
  • Ray Lewis Makes Controversial Comments About NFL Lockout

BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Controversial comments. Ravens star Ray Lewis issues a stern warning. He says if there is no football, crime will increase across the country. As Kai Jackson explains, not everyone agrees. Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis is known for speaking his mind and that’s exactly what he did when ESPN’s Sal Paolantonio asked Lewis about the NFL lockout. “We really gotta remove pride, seriously. There’s no other reason the issue’s going on,” he said. Perhaps his most controversial statement was about the possibility of no NFL season. Lewis painted a grim picture across America of people without jobs and...

“What we’re going through right now, we’re affecting way more than us,” he said. “Too many people live through us. People live through us. Walk in the streets the way I walk in the streets.” And according to Lewis, one of the major results of lockout would be an increase of evil, which he says will come in the form of more crime. “Do this research if we don’t have a season — watch how much evil, which we call crime — watch how much crime picks up if you take away our game.”

The parents of an unarmed black teenager shot dead by a neighborhood watch captain in a gated community are leading a rally Monday in the city where he was killed to protest the lack of an arrest or prosecution. Professional football players Ray Lewis and Santonio Holmes are joining civil rights leaders Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton at the rally in Sanford, near Orlando, that comes before a city commission meeting. It's the first time Sanford commissioners have met since the city's police chief stepped down in what he called a temporary move.

“Shocking Video!!!” This week the news and sports media, on behalf of those who need help with two plus two, revealed there are two kinds of domestic violence: The not-too-bad, the kind described only in words and a cost-you-only-two-games video of a woman being dragged from an elevator, and … The shocking, throw-the-bum-out kind, as seen in this week’s inside-the-elevator, what-happened-in-Atlantic City-didn’t-quite-stay-there Ray Rice video. Some of us, however, know better than to be shocked by common sense. After all, how else did the soon-to-be Mrs. Rice, as seen months ago in the first surveillance video, become unconscious, left for...

On ESPN’s “SportsCenter” earlier this week, espnW columnist Kate Fagan argued that the big picture in the controversy surrounding former Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice’s domestic violence allegations. According Fagan, the problem needs to be tackled at the so-called grassroots level when men are in their formative years. “Well, I think right now we're talking so much about firing Goodell or punishments. You know, should it be a three game, a two game, a six game, a full year ban? But I think that's a little reactive and not proactive. Domestic violence is something that happens in anger, in...

Sports Illustrated has come to my mailbox for nearly 40 years. I hope it comes for 40 more. But I also hope whomever is assigning the stories in the future begins to think more about the readers than their political and social agendas. Super Bowl week featured a cover of a praying Ray Lewis rising from the water, and a cover story by New York Times’ religion columnist Mark Oppenheimer on Christians in the NFL. The story was enough to cause PJMedia writer Andrew Klavan to declare he would not renew his SI subscription, and most serious Christian athletes are...
