Multiple sources in the Media report that between 60,000 and 75,000 attended the Obama rally in Portland, Oregon on Sunday. A simple check of Google Earth, using the "ruler" tool shows that the area of Waterfront Park used for the rally is approximately 172,000 square feet. An person, standing upright, occupies an area of about 4 square feet, so even allowing for no gaps in the crowd , with everyone jammed in shoulder to shoulder, you can't get more than 43,000 people into the area. Clearly, there was space left around the dias, and there was space for people to...

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Former Sen. George McGovern, the 1972 Democratic presidential candidate and an early backer of Hillary Rodham Clinton, joined a noisy rally for Barack Obama on Friday night, describing the Illinois senator as a "ripple of hope" who can win the White House. McGovern has shifted his allegiance to Obama and suggested it's time for Clinton to pull the plug. He offered an explanation to a cheering crowd of 6,500. "Last October, I endorsed Senator Hillary Clinton," said McGovern. "She and her remarkable husband, President Clinton, way back 36 years ago worked their hearts out for me...

Welcome to FReep #16. It was Mary, Kelly, and me for this Friday's FReep. As usual our side received more honks than what the moonbats could ever hope to get and we got many waves, thumbs up, and a few kind words from passing motorists. The moonbats seemed a bit more tired and worn out today. While most of their group usually shows up between 4:30 to 4:45 there were only a handful of them from 4:20 to about 5:15. The rest of the old hippies finally straggled in at about 5:20. One of the moonbats brought his little boy,...

While Gov. Rick Perry was in Johnson Coliseum addressing SFA graduates, on the other side of campus a group of citizens were not so happy about his appearance in Nacogdoches. In the free-speech area of campus, near North Street and Vista Drive, many farmers, property owners and concerned citizens gathered for a Citizens Against the Trans-Texas Corridor Rally. Holding protest signs and using a tractor as a symbol of the farming community, those who gathered wanted to make their cause heard by the governor, as well as the community. Many vehicles traveling on North Street honked in support of the...

Around Martinsville, in eastern Nacogdoches County, country roads trail past farms and ranches. It's a place where people used to talk about hay yields. Now discussion has turned to politics. Protest signs reading, " No Trespassing to Trans Texas Corridor hang on their fences and gates. This week's discussion centers around a rally on the day Governor Rick Perry will be in Nacogdoches delivering a commencement speech. He may need more luck than the graduates. Trans Texas Corridor opponent, Larry Shelton said, " We want to send a message loud and clear to the governor that we are tired of...

An Appreciative Local must have thought we were hungry as he drove past us because he bought us (BELOW - that is Eager helping Lurker Bill on our left flank) a bag of McD's double cheeseburgers and a bag of 20 oz. sodas. This meant he had to stop at two places since McD's does not sell bottled soda. Most of us chowed down immediately. This Saturday we had also bought some Dunkin Donuts with the gift certificates (4 - $10 certificates) that another appreciative local gave us several months ago. It had been too cold to buy donuts previously...

The Salute to Our Troops event will dedicate an entire day to active-duty and reserve members of every branch of the military and their families. "It's an opportunity for the people of North Carolina to get in here and say, 'Hey, guys, we appreciate what you do to ensure the freedoms that we enjoy every day,'" Van Krebs, the event director, said. PatrioticMarineMom was holding her USMC Flag and her favorite Marine son sign. I had my USA Flag and one of my favorite signs: God Bless The Military and Their Families. Folks, it is time that we every day Americans say, “enough” to the trashing of everything we hold dear. America needs an American Tea Party, a rally in Washington DC protesting political correctness and the far left movement of our country. "TYPICAL" is now a word back into our vocabulary. Possibly the one who recently uttered this word can really unite these United States by saying all of us are "Typical" Americans. But I think NOT. We are going to give the "typical moonbat" top billing this week because the pics are so "good". "Typical" had become a divisive word for those on the receiving end unless one is a PATRIOT, defending our freedoms and standing up for those who defend it. 5 Year Anniversary of Success On Tuesday, March 18th, 2008 the Vets For Freedom Heroes came through Tucson, Arizona as part of their tour across America. As a member of Vets For Freedom I attended a lunch meeting held at a local American Legion Hall. The stalwart warriors explained in speeches that things were going well in Iraq but most mainstream news media refuse to report good war news. The speakers, which included retired US Army Lieutenant Colonel Steve Russell and former US Army Staff Sergeant David Bellavia, exhibited an amazing range of knowledge on a variety of subjects...

BERKELEY -- Berkeley is hosting a decidedly different kind of protest today. A couple hundred flag-waving leather-clad pro-troop bikers have roared into town to show their support for the often besieged Marines recruiting center in the city. "I'm here because I support my Marines," said Steve Bosshard, a retired San Francisco police officer who came from Santa Rosa. "I don't like what Berkeley's done. They don't realize the effect it has on the troops." The center was criticized by the Berkeley city council and is often the target of protests. Today's demonstrators, most of whom are military veterans, said they...

It’s amazing what happens when people start working together toward a common goal. Friday night, 14 March, Free Republic, Gathering of Eagles (GOE), Eagles Up, Nam Knights, Band of Mothers, Protest Warrior, Patriot Guard Riders, A Soldier’s Wish List, Move America Forward, and concerned individuals got together at the intersection of Georgia and Elder in DC NW to show unified support of the men and women who wear military uniforms in service to our country. This intersection is the location of the main entrance of Walter Reed Army Medical Center (WRAMC). It is this intersection that greets the men and...

Military Families Voice of Victory got a very interesting comment from an article about recruiting center attacks yesterday from coast to coast. One of the cities reported about was DC "SDS threw paint bombs, rocks and damaged police cars. Witnesses have reported that MPDC Chief Cathy Lanier has ordered the police to do nothing if the center was attacked." This was from a report phone in which was also reported here at FR. Today a response was made by Communications at MPD. "The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) must enforce local law and the rights afforded to every person under the...

Remember Me By Salena Zito Time punishes war. The war in Iraq is no exception; as each moment passes, public resolve, politics and passion erode its mission. Collectively, many Americans tend to remember the mistakes and politics that led us there, rather than the faces of the men and women who serve and defend us. Seven months ago, Lizzie Palmer, a young lady from Columbus, Ohio, barely over the threshold of childhood, felt compelled to do her part to remind people of those faces. The result is a stunning video that was showcased on Chris Wallace's Fox News Sunday last...

Story Created: Mar 19, 2008 Story Updated: Mar 19, 2008 People driving by the Army Recruiting Station on Milwaukee's east side are finding it boarded up with a vandal's message on the 5th anniversary of the Iraq War. Vandals put graffiti saying "War Is Offensive" and broke windows at the facility on the 3100 block of North Oakland Avenue, near the UWM campus. Officials there later boarded up the windows. A man who works in the area said he saw anti-war slogans written on the windows also. This is not the first time the place has been vandalized. Last year,...

SAN FRANCISCO - -- Protesters briefly clashed with San Francisco police several times today as officers tried to clear Market Street of hundreds of demonstrators marking the fifth anniversary of the start of the Iraq war. More than 50 people had been arrested by lunch time in incidents at several downtown locations. In the most recent scuffle, about 80 police in riot helmets and carrying billy clubs surrounded about two dozen demonstrators staging a die-in at Market and New Montgomery streets. The protesters laid in the street around 12:15 p.m., blocking traffic. At least two demonstrators were wrestled to the...

From San Francisco to Berkeley to Washington, D.C., peace activists plan demonstrations across the nation today to mark the fifth anniversary of the start of the Iraq war. More than 600 events are scheduled. Anti-war activists say their goal is to use the occasion to renew interest in the conflict when many Americans are focused on the troubled economy and the presidential election. "We want to make sure that this war is put back into the American consciousness as an issue," said Bill Hackwell, spokesman for the Act Now to Stop War and End Racism coalition, or A.N.S.W.E.R. "This has...
