Is Carter right to label Obama row 'racist'? Former US President Jimmy Carter says much of the vitriol against President Barack Obama's reforms is "based on racism". Why have Obama's policies led to such a backlash?

For some people in this country, Obama will always be an angel.

Jimmy Carter: The Biggest Loser The pacifist pansy Jimmy "Peanut" Carter stood by and let 53 Americans be held hostage in Iran for 444 days while he stood by and did nothing. The day after he left office and the day Reagan assumed the White House the hostages were set free. Many refer to him as the worst President of all time. Just when you thought his stock could not sink any lower it hit a new bottom. He recently stated in an interview with NBC's Brian Williams that much of the criticism towards President Barack Obama "is based on...

Wednesday, September 16, 2009 How Much Has the Charge of Racism Been Diluted in the Last Few Months? [Peter Kirsanow] An accusation of racism may be the most radioactive charge in public discourse. Lots of smart people have stated that leveling the charge serves to cut off any debate on the underlying topic, i.e., health-care reform, radical czars, ACORN, etc. But the profligate resort to the charge over the last few months actually seems to have energized the conversation on the details of many of these subjects. Those accused — Tea Party attendees, talk-radio listeners, and even a few...

Quick Vanity - if those who critize Obama are racist, doesn't that make everyone who viciously attacked Sarah Palin a sexist?

That’s the official liberal/Democratic response. They’ve toyed with it and used it here and there since you started to speak out, but now after somewhere between 1.5 million and two million of you showed up in Washington D.C. this past Saturday they are going to beat you over the head with this. Representative Joe Wilson is now a “racist”. Doesn’t matter what he actually believes or what he’s done in his life. He’s a racist. Why? He disagreed with Barack Obama and shouted out “You Lie” during the President "Always Ready for Primetime" Obama's address to Congress. Never mind that...

The guest (Micheal Eric Dyson) called the right wing radio hosts racist, Rush, Beck (at about the 5 min mark)........ Micheal said "what is a monkey, a nazi, what is teabaggers, when you start putting all this stuff together,...it's like asking the abused women, you doing any better verses the abuser...," Then later in the interview he started accusing Rush, Beck of being racist....Joe limply called him on it............Worth the watch.

For the sake of convenience, I’ve decided to call people like Maureen Dowd, who see hidden racism in every complaint about Obama, “racers.” If I could sum up the underpinnings of their position, it would be a riff on Descartes’s proof of existence: “I think, therefore I am.” For racers, it goes something like this: “I think it, therefore it is.” Such thoughts don’t require logic or evidence—just a gut feeling, a hunch, and to racers that makes them real. To understand the extent of the racers’ projections, and read how much they demonize those on the Right, you need...

Twelve percent (12%) of voters nationwide believe that most opponents of President Obama’s health care reform plan are racist. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 67% of voters disagree, and 21% are not sure. In recent days, several Democrats have suggested that racism is a factor. The most prominent to make that accusation is former President Jimmy Carter. Eighty-eight percent (88%) of Republicans reject the notion that most of the opponents are racist. So do 78% of voters not affiliated with either major party. However, just 39% of Democrats share that view. Twenty-two percent (22%) of those...

Former US President Jimmy Carter says much of the vitriol against President Barack Obama's health reforms and spending plans is "based on racism". Mr Carter told a public meeting there was "an inherent feeling among many in this country that an African-American should not be president". Republican lawmaker Joe Wilson was rebuked on Tuesday in a House vote. He shouted "You lie!" while Mr Obama was delivering an address on healthcare to Congress last Wednesday. The House resolution of disapproval described it as "a breach of decorum".

I recently received an email from a listener looking for answers… James, I read the following Newsweek article http://www.newsweek.com/id/214989 and was wondering if you thought being a racist was a choice? I don’t see how. Why would someone choose a life of scorn and ridicule? How did you come to accept it? How did you come out? Any help would be appreciated…I’m scared. Anonymous

WASHINGTON (AFP) – A southern conservative lawmaker breaks decorum and hollers "You Lie," at the president in Congress. Protesters display guns at venues where the president is speaking. And a movement arises alleging that the president's birth certificate is forged. To some, it is clear that the burgeoning opposition to President Barack Obama is rooted in racism, driven by whites' discomfort with the fact that the United States is now led by an African-American president. A series of Democratic lawmakers and political columnists have pointed to the trends -- the heckling, the gun-toting, the preachers leading congregations in prayers that...

"I shall never fight in the armed forces with a Negro by my side... Rather I should die a thousand times, and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds.” — Robert C. Byrd, in a letter to Sen. Theodore Bilbo (D-MS), 1944 Within the democratic party sits a former high member of the actual KKK. That's not taking a shot at someone, that's fact. The Congressional BLACK Caucus is saying that not punishing Joe...

Discourse: The reaction to the congressman's outburst shows what happens when you judge this president by the content of his character. In a post-racial presidency, charges of racism are the new last refuge of scoundrels. When Joe Wilson, the decorum-challenged South Carolina Republican, reacted to President Obama's assertion that there was nothing in health care legislation giving coverage to illegal aliens by shouting "You lie!" he knew, as his critics ignore, that there was nothing requiring proof of citizenship either. A nonpartisan Congressional Research Service study found that the House health care bill at that moment did not restrict illegal immigrants...

I mean this in partial jest. Only black people can call each other the N word. Now, the only epithet that I'm aware of that is close to being on the same level of the N word is the C word for women. Don't ever use either word. However, the media's propaganda has gotten so over the top, and the politicians' pandering has too gotten over the top, that it's getting to the point to where "racist" is the epithet for conservatives.

A lib friend-of-a-friend is pushing this one hard on a chat on Facebook. http://newsone.com/obama/top-10-racist-limbaugh-quotes/ When I try to Google some of the quotes, I only get this same list over and over. Snopes only lists two of them, one he said in the '70s when he was a dj, and he apologized, and he also apologized for the Jesse Jackson remark. But the entry was last up-dated in June of 2007. I can't find a definitive article that refutes or acknowledges all the others. Can anyone help out?

Yelling "you lie!" at a president: A group of black newspaper publishers on Friday charged Republican Rep. Joe Wilson with racism for yelling, "You lie," at President Obama during his nationally televised address to a joint session of Congress. "As African-American newspaper publishers we stand in solidarity with the NAACP and fully support the economic boycott of South Carolina," NNPA Chairman Danny J. Bakewell Sr. said. "Rep. Wilson's remarks were racist, disrespectful, and a disingenuous violation -- not only of President Obama -- but to the institution of the presidency and only solidified our position and the importance in not...

If you’re Caucasian, don’t think you’re ever clean of the moonbat answer to original sin. According to Newsreek, even babies are racist. At the Children’s Research Lab at the University of Texas — located in liberal Austin, the Berkeley of the Southwest — Birgitte Vittrup attempted to measure how effective propaganda is at instilling multiculturalist ideology in small children. She found that despite parents’ progressive intentions and the homogenous political correctness of everything they see on TV, children 5 to 7 years old tended to consider blacks but not whites to be “mean.” That this could have something to do...

Since Aug. 28th in Sacramento, CA, I have been traveling across America performing on the Tea Party Express tour. Patriots are attending by the thousands, families, grandparents and kids. TeleSUR, Venezuela From 15 hours ago. (Van) Jones, special advisor for Green Jobs and Environment Innovation of the White House, submitted his resignation early Sunday, as the product of a great scandal generated when ventilating himself in support of an organization that offered that ex-President George Bush was complicit in the attacks on September 11th. This is an adviser of the current president of the United States, Barack Obama, and that worked in the Council of Environmental Quality office, had to apologize already in public, after the existence was known a recording in which he made offensive signallings against...

The New York Times has posted an article on the Van Jones resignation, calling it a "victory for Republicans and the Obama Administration's conservative critics." Actually it is a victory for America. The article appears on page A17 of the New York edition this morning. Here is part of what the Times said: In a victory for Republicans and the Obama administration’s conservative critics, Van Jones resigned as the White House’s environmental jobs “czar” on Saturday. Controversy over Mr. Jones’s past comments and affiliations has slowly escalated over several weeks, erupting on Friday with calls for his resignation. Appointed as...

It's now just past 4PM Central time and as of last check, Van Jones is still President Obama's green jobs' czar. It's been more than two days since it was revealed that Mr. Jones signed onto a petition that accused the government of George Bush of attacking its own people on 9/11. It's been nearly a week since Glenn Beck started his full frontal assault on exposing the radicalism of Jones. The latest revelation is this video.

A recent mob-beating of a Buffalo, NY teen has caused a great deal of outrage within the community, and while the crime has been covered locally, the national mainstream press has completely ignored the story. The victim is white and the assailants were black. On August 18, Brian Milligan Jr., 18, was walking home when he was reportedly attacked at the corner of Genesee Street and Floss Avenue, by between 10 to 15 black men. In addition to being punched and kicked, Milligan’s attackers hit him in the back of the head with a brick. Amazingly, despite his severe injuries,...

After the devastation wrought by Hurricane Katrina and the Bush adminstration's widely criticized response to it, green jobs czar and 9/11 "truther" Van Jones channelled Kanye West. In a Sept. 1, 2005 Huffington Post op-ed, "Bush's Role in the Drowning of New Orleans," Jones wrote: Don't say that a hurricane destroyed New Orleans. Hurricanes don't drown cities. It was a "perfect storm" of a different kind that put that great city underwater: Bush-era neglect of our national infrastructure, combined with runaway global warming and a deep contempt for poor African-Americans. Rep. Mike Pence, the no. 3 Republican in the House, is calling on Obama green jobs czar Van Jones to resign. This sort of thing would usually be laughed off by Democrats -- a conservative Republican telling a Democratic appointee to quit. But the Obama team isn't exactly jumping to back Jones today in wake of revelations that in the past he signed on to one of the "truther" groups that claimed 9/11 was an inside job. Oh, and he called Republicans a**holes in a video earlier this year before he was appointed. Asked about Jones' affiliations with the 9/11...

WASHINGTON -- Breaking new ground in race relations, President Barack Obama today gave controversial Green Jobs czar Van Jones another role at the White House: the nation’s first Racism czar. “I unveiled only the tip of the iceberg when I said the Cambridge police acted stupidly and subsequently complained about the history of racial profiling in this country,” Obama said during a press conference in the Blue Room at the White House, Jones standing nearby wearing a Kanye Was Right t-shirt. “With Van Jones as the point man on race relations in the White House, we’ll have white people burning...

Van Jones: "Well, the answer to that is: they're assholes." Female questioner: I was afraid that that was the answer. Van Jones: That's a technical, political science term. What Is ColorOfChange.org? ColorOfChange.org exists to strengthen BLACK America's political voice. Our goal is to empower our members—Black Americans and our allies—to make government more responsive to the concerns of Black Americans and to bring about positive political and social change for everyone. We were heart-broken and outraged by the catastrophe that followed Hurricane Katrina. And we were devastated to realize that no African-American organization or coalition had the capacity to respond on the necessary scale. Hurricane Katrina made it clear that our lack of a political voice has life-and-death consequences. With no one to speak for them, hundreds of...

A gang of marines sexually assaulted the wife of a Brooklyn-raised Marine in front of him before killing both of them - revelations that sent the slain woman's mom fleeing from a courtroom Wednesday. The four men used a sex toy to attack Quiana Pietrzak on a table as her bound-and-gagged husband, Sgt. Jan Pawel Pietrzak, watched helplessly in their California home, cops testified. The attackers - who thought Jan Pawel Pietrak had a hidden stash of cash - also planned to force the newlywed to dance naked in hopes of getting her husband to "break," police said. Tyrone Miller,...

During his recent HBO special, "Tall, Dark and Chicano," comedian George Lopez tore a hole in the Big Tent. Incensed that 31 Senate Republicans had voted against Sonia Sotomayor's nomination to the Supreme Court, Lopez informed the GOP that it would never again get the votes of Latinos. In fact, he said, given changing demographics, Republicans might as well get used to losing in the years to come because "you won't win a . . . pie-eating contest." That's harsh, but fair. Republicans know not what they did. They're only fooling themselves if they think they won't pay a price...

WASHINGTON — With their votes against Sonia Maria Sotomayor last week, Republicans snuggled up to their broadcast image as the incredible shrinking frat house of white males. The GOP once courted the Latino vote. But on Thursday, both Republican senators from three states carved out of old Mexico in the 19th century— Texas, Arizona and Utah— all voted against the newest Supreme Court justice. OK, one of the six was a woman, Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchinson of Texas. But she is running against an incumbent governor, Rick Perry, who is courting macho extremists who think secession from the United States...

WASHINGTON -- Sonia Sotomayor, her family and friends are gathering at the Supreme Court for her swearing-in as the court's first Hispanic, third woman and 111th justice. Chief Justice John Roberts is to preside Saturday at two ceremonies that will officially make Sotomayor a high court justice. Sotomayor, 55, has been a federal judge for 17 years. President Barack Obama nominated her in May to take the place of Justice David Souter, who has retired. The Senate confirmed Sotomayor's nomination Thursday by a 68-31 vote. An article in...Thursday’s Washington Post lashed out at the viral Obama-as-the-Joker posters, attacking them as promoting "coded," "racially charged" images. Staff writer Philip Kennicott smeared the images, which have been showing up in Los Angeles as flat-out bigoted... In the August 6 piece, Kennicott provided this incendiary take on the poster campaign: "Obama, like the Joker and like the racial stereotype of the black man, carries within him an unknowable, volatile and dangerous marker of urban violence, which could erupt at any time." The Post writer did acknowledge that a similar image deriding Bush as the villainous character...But he goes...

Are we about to put a racist on the Supreme Court? It is virtually certain that President Obama's nominee for Justice Souter's seat, Judge Sonia Sotomayor, will be confirmed. But there are innumerable reasons why she shouldn't be. One is that she is clearly a racist. It's not just her ridiculous statement that she could make "better decisions" because she's Hispanic. Her ruling against the New Haven firefighters is clearly based on race. While it is a good thing that the court she is poised to join overturned that unjust ruling, the fact remains that she based her ruling entirely...

According to her, the problem with the Republican party is that it has too many conservatives. Well, that’s not new, we knew she felt that way since she labored to diminish Sarah Palin in every column since her nomination (including her most recent column, dated Aug 5 2009). Not satisfied with attacking a single conservative person, she deftly uses a comment by Ohio Sen. George Voinovich to launch her attack on the entire southern Republican establishment. She paraphrases Voinovich’s comment to better fit her argument as, “Those ignorant, right-wing, Bible-thumping rednecks are ruining the party.” Then she proceeds to agree...
