On a day that included the identification of the man suspected of fatally shooting Howard County Deputy Carl Koontz and the release from IU Methodist Hospital of Sgt. Jordan Buckley, Koontz's partner early Sunday morning, the fallen law enforcement officer was brought home to rest. During a procession that saw thousands of Hoosiers line the streets from the Marion County coroner's office to Stout & Son Funeral Home in Kokomo, Koontz was honored by his fellow law enforcement officials and mourned by gathered family members.

Christmas Eve descended into chaos Thursday when shots were fired between two groups at a north Charlotte mall and a responding off-duty police officer shot and killed one of the alleged gunmen. Northlake Mall was jammed with last-minute holiday shoppers when an argument broke out between two groups involved in an ongoing dispute. Wichita police release more details about an officer-involved shooting that left one man dead and an officer hurt. A 49-year-old police trainee killed an unarmed teen burglary suspect who drove an SUV into the showroom of an Arlington car dealership early Friday. ... The dealership’s security company reported the break-in after its cameras recorded a man there after hours, police said. Sgt. CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Solicitor Scarlett Wilson on Monday announced that an indictment has been handed down by a state Grand Jury against former North Charleston police officer Michael Slager for murder. The indictment was filed and handed down on Monday, Wilson said. "The facts that were presented to us by SLED warranted a Grand Jury," she said. An armed man in his 20s being surveilled by the FBI counterterrorism unit was shot and killed by an FBI agent and a Boston police officer in Roslindale this morning, according to Boston Police Commissioner William Evans. A man with ties to the Bay Area was shot and killed by police in Boston on Tuesday. Officials say the suspect was being followed by the Joint Terrorism Task Force and was wielding a military-style knife at officers. A man arrested in connection with a terror investigation in Boston will be in federal court Wednesday. David Wright was taken into custody at his home in Everett Tuesday afternoon, hours after a Boston police officer and an FBI agent shot and killed a man who was under 24-hour surveillance by terrorism investigators in Roslindale. According to CBS News, Wright and the man killed, 26-year-old Usaama Rahim, were communicating about attacks in the U.S. and that’s why he was arrested.
