The entertainment media’s treatment of Sarah Palin and her family has been abhorrent. Like their biased and unjust hard news media brethren, entertainment outlets have gone out of their way to tarnish Palin’s image. While tabloids, semi-legitimate entertainment programs and celebrities issue incessant praise for President Obama and his leftist policies, Palin is showered with insults and inappropriate slurs. And let’s not forget the ongoing insensitive questioning about the birth of her special needs son, Trig. Since the end of the 2008 campaign, some of the most glaring examples of the entertainment media’s obsession with anti-Palin coverage have centered on...

“I hate Sarah Palin, I… I just hate her!” That is not an uncommon outburst from some when it comes to feelings about one of the most polarizing figures (in “liberal” minds) in the political arena. As I write about the political happenings of the former governor of Alaska, I am continually amazed at both reader responses and callers to my radio program, Conscience of Kansas, when it comes to the level of hatred that Palin generates from some in the public. So, who are the real Palin-haters? Is there a common factor that binds people who find their blood...

And here we were thinking that slap-stick humor died out with the legendary Charlie Chaplin. If you haven't already heard, a 33 year-old man in Minnesota by the name of Jeremy Paul Olson was arrested yesterday for chucking tomatoes at Sarah Palin during a Mall of America book signing. Olson attempted the tomato barrage from the second floor balcony, but unfortunately missed Sarah and her husband Todd both by about ten feet. He did, however, hit nearby police officers (one right in the face!), which is probably the only reason that he was truly taken into custody. That is, I...

On Tuesday night’s Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on NBC, during an interview with MSNBC host Rachel Maddow, when Maddow recounted a recent incident in which a man unsuccessfully threw a tomato at Sarah Palin at a public event at a mall, Fallon joked that it was "awful" because the thrower "didn’t come close" to hitting Palin. Fallon: "Didn’t hit her at all? Didn’t come close? Awful." Below is a transcript of the relevant portion of the late Tuesday/early Wednesday, December 8th/9th Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on NBC: JIMMY FALLON: Did you hear about what’s going on with Sarah...

Allahpundit has this in the headlines, and it’s worth having the audio up here to catch the heavy qualifications Sarah Palin gives Lars Larson in this radio interview from last week. Larson asks whether she’d be willing to launch an independent run for the presidency if Palin was dissatisfied with the GOP, and while she didn’t say no, the conditions she lays down to remain within the Republican Party seem rather easy to meet (via The Right Scoop):

Sarah Palin was actually too busy signing copies of her memoir “Going Rogue” to notice. The tomatoes hurled at her during her bookstore appearance at Minnesota’s Mall of America landed about ten feet off mark, hitting a police officer instead of Palin herself. But the incident has got to be disturbing, nonetheless. Throughout the course of Palin’s book tour, she has been thronged by fans, some of whom have even camped out overnight to guarantee a chance to have her autograph their books. At least at some stores, those who wait in line must pass through a security check before...

“When I walked into the Strand Bookstore in Manhattan last week, I headed straight for the bright young thing who wore an ‘Ask Me’ button, and asked her to point me to the section of the store where I might find Sarah Palin’s memoir, ‘Going Rogue: An American Life.’ She looked at me as if I had requested a copy of ‘Mein Kampf’ signed in blood by the author, and directed me to the nearest Barnes and Noble, where, presumably, readers of dubious taste and sensibility could find what they wanted.” The audacious Stanley Fish of the New York Times...

Sarah Palin’s current book tour has afforded her overwhelming media exposure, including numerous high-profile television interviews. The full array of her strengths and weaknesses were on display, and she would be well advised to examine both in depth. Palin has many allies and supporters. She has won their hearts by, in most cases, showing she is like them. She is, however, still despised (read, alternatively, feared) by her opponents, particularly the coastal “elites” who simply refuse to see her as intellectually competent to handle high office. While her book and media blitz give plenty of evidence to the contrary, this...

Eric over at Classical Values had a great response to my recent discussion about Birtherism and it’s crackpot leftist cousin Trig Birtherism (the belief that Sarah Palin’s son Trig is actually her grandson instead of her son.) He also had an important discovery: In fact, I’m going to scoop Andrew on something. It may shock readers to know this, but Trig Palin was born in Kenya! No, seriously. The only known, true, government-certified copy of his Kenyan Birth Certificate has come into my possession. And here it is, for the first time on the Internet! See this amazing revelation for...

Lordy, Lordy, Lordy, look what the pollsters just brought in. A pair of new surveys revealing that Democrat President Obama is still declining and has hit a new low in job approval among Americans just 56 weeks after they elected him with a decided margin. And -- wait for it -- Republican Sarah Palin is successfully selling a whole lot more than books out there on the road. Even among those not lining up in 10-degree weather to catch a glimpse of pretty much the only political celebrity the GOP has these days. First, el jefe. Facing double-digit unemployment, rising...

MSNBC: Crowds lined up at each stop on the “Going Rogue” tour were told no personal photos with Sarah Palin were allowed. Instead, the Palin camp offers their own photographer, who will take the picture and then sell it to fans.

To its credit, National Review once attacked those who refused to accept the prima facie evidence of Barack Obama's birth certificate as proof of his eligibility to be president of the United States. The hallmark of a conspiracy theory is that a lack of evidence for the theory is taken as yet more evidence for the theory. Indeed, the maddening thing about dealing with conspiracy hobbyists of this or any sort is the ever-shifting nature of their argument and their alleged evidence: Never mind the birth certificate, his step-grandmother said he was born in Kenya! (No, she didn't.) Now examine...

For much of this decade, Charles Johnson was one of the right's leading bloggers. His blog, Little Green Footballs, was famous for its focus on Islamic terrorism, but also for the role it played in "Rathergate" and in exposing various faked photography.... On Monday, Johnson made the split official, with a post headlined, "Why I Parted Ways With The Right." In it, he gave a list of reasons for the break... Johnson concluded the post saying, "The American right wing has gone off the rails, into the bushes, and off the cliff. I won't be going over the cliff with...

Here is video of former House Speaker Newt Gingrich discussing with Bill O'Reilly the possibility of Sarah Palin forming a new third party. Gingrich said he believed Palin would be "very formidable" if she decided to go the route of a third party. O'Reilly said Palin would be able to raise a lot of money for such a run. O'Reilly said Palin "held her own" with him in the interview they did, and said she did a good job in Alaska as Governor. O'Reilly asked Gingrich if he would win in a debate with Sarah Palin, given his experience advantage....

Here is video of 2008 Obama Campaign Manager David Plouffe hawking his new book, "The Audacity to Win," by trying to get Obama supporters to help him beat Sarah Palin's book sales for one day - December 8. For people who think Sarah Palin is no threat to President Obama, Plouffe and his liberal friends sure seem to be obsessed with her. Now, he is even trying to use Palin to increase his own book sales. . . . (VIDEO)

Bloomington Police say a man threw a tomato at former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin during her Monday appearance at the Mall of America, but didn't hit her. Officers say two of their own were hit by tomato fragments instead, after the tomato hit the stage about 10 feet from Palin. People on the second level balcony, where the tomato was thrown from, helped police apprehend the man accused of throwing it. Police identified him as Jeremiah Wobbe from St. Paul. They said he was arrested and could face assault and disorderly conduct charges. Officers added that they found two more...

Former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-Pa.) said Monday that former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin would have “some explaining” to do if she seeks the White House. “She's done a lot to draw attention to herself that's positive,” Santorum during an interview on ABC’s “Top Line,” adding that the former Republican vice presidential nominee has “done some things that, you know, certainly are going to cause her to have to do some explaining if she runs for president.” “But right now I think she's on a roll, she's having a good time, she's having an impact,” he continued. “If you're sitting here...

A man was arrested for allegedly throwing two tomatoes at Sarah Palin from the second floor balcony during a book signing event at the Mall of America in Minnesota, MyFoxTwinCities.com. reported. Neither tomato came close hitting the former 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee, but did hit a police officer in the face, the station reported. The unidentified man may face charges for assaulting a police officer, according to the station. Die-hard supporters treated the event like another Black Friday, lining up outside in freezing weather before the mall doors opened at 5 a.m. Emily Calhoon, a high school junior from...

Two weeks ago, an Iowa poll showed Palin trailing Huckabee by just two points, 70% to 68%, in favorability ratings among Iowa Republicans. She easily outdistanced Mitt Romney, who garnered only 58 percent. Despite a media onslaught attempting to spin the Clemmons story, Huckabee's credibility has taken a serious hit. Even those who boosted him to victory in the 2008 Iowa Caucus are questioning the former Arkansas governor's judgment.

Writing about Sarah Palin in Newsweek last month, I pointed out the crude way in which she tried to Teflon-ize herself when allegations of weird political extremism were made against her. Thus, she had once gone to a Pat Buchanan rally wearing a pro-Buchanan button, but only because she thought it was the polite thing to do. She and her husband had both attended meetings of the Alaskan Independence Party—he as a member—but its name, she later tried to claim, only meant "independent." (The AIP is a straightforward secessionist party.) She didn't disbelieve all the evidence for evolution, only some...

On November 22, Frank Rich had this to say about the attendees of Sarah Palin book signings [via TimesWatch]: “That demographic is white and non-urban: Just look at the stops and the faces on her carefully calibrated book tour. The affect is emotional — the angry air of grievance that emerged first at her campaign rallies in 2008, with their shrieked threats to Obama, and that has since resurfaced in the Hitler-fixated ‘tea party’ movement (which she endorses in her book)....Palin is at the red-hot center of age-old American resentments that have boiled up both from the ascent of our...

going to collapse if we don't pass this Democrat slush fund called the "stimulus bill" tomorrow, the world is going to boil over in 3 months unless we turn our lives upside-down to stop global warming, our "moral standing" in the world is being damaged by Republican strategies in the war on terror, black churches are going to burn because America is a racist country, and millions of Americans are going to go poor and starving unless government does something to regulate those greedy corporate executives. These, according to Frank Rich — who according to his own writings agrees wholeheartedly...

What an odd hat. In fact, it is identical to the one Castro wears from color to style...

I understand that the Castro hat is a common 'fashion' symbol for many women lately. Is Palin intentionally wearing a Castro hat for some point or is her fashion skills that mediocre? I've only seen teenage girls wear those things.

Wednesday, December 2nd brought hundreds of folks out to Costco in Tempe, Arizona. The one and only Sarah Palin graced their presence to sign her new book, "Going Rogue". According to a gentleman calling in to the Sean Hannity radio show on Thursday, he persuaded Governor Palin to not only sign his book but also his back. If you think this unbelievable, the Palin devotee then reported that he and his girlfriend wasted no time driving to a tattoo establishment and, you guessed it, having Palin's autograph permanently engraved on his back via tattoo. He sounded quite proud, while Hannity,...

Sarah Palin arrived in Fairfax, VA this morning for a book signing at BJs Wholesale Club in Fair Lakes Shopping Center. This is the scene at about 12 noon, after I'd come out of the store from getting my book autographed. I met at least one family yesterday, who started their vigil at 12:30 p.m. When I arrived at around 8 a.m., the line was about as big as it is in the photo above. More came by in the three hours leading up to her 11 a.m. arrival. Despite the rain, which turned to snow at around 9:30, people...

Prompting concerns that the MSNBC character has fallen off the wagon, Chris Matthews is now screeching that Sarah Palin thinks Barack Obama is an illegal alien. Matthews’ recent foray into utter madness was triggered by an interview Palin did with talk show host Rusty Humphries. When asked whether Obama’s birth certificate is “‘fair game”, Palin gave an entirely coherent response: “‘I think it’s a fair question, just like I think past association and past voting records – all of that is fair game,’ Palin responded.” From this, Matthews extrapolates that Palin believes Obama to be an illegal alien worthy of...

The reason Palin’s accent sounds somewhat Minnesota is that she grew up in a region of Alaska originally populated by over 200 families who moved north in 1935 from Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan. This according to three University of Wisconsin linguists in an article titled “Dialect, Perceiving Dialect, and New Dialect Formation: Sarah Palin’s Speech,” which appears in the December issue of the Journal of English Linguistics. According to the University of Wisconsin’s Badger-Herald, “The study specifically analyzed Palin’s use of colloquial words and phrases, which were perceived as informal by many.” Reporters were very concerned about her colloquialisms, “g-dropping,”...

Sarah's explanation of why she legitimized the birther conspiracy theorists feeds right into her victimhood storyline: Voters have every right to ask candidates for information if they so choose. I’ve pointed out that it was seemingly fair game during the 2008 election for many on the left to badger my doctor and lawyer for proof that Trig is in fact my child. Conspiracy-minded reporters and voters had a right to ask … which they have repeatedly. Ah yes... Palin was a victim of a massive left wing conspiracy that forced her to courageously step down as Alaska's governor. So it's...

I may catch some flak for this, but I’m prepared. While I very much like Sarah Palin and what she represents, I do believe she made a serious error when answering a question concerning the issue of Barack Obama’s birth certificate.

It's been over a year since the election of 2008 and yet Sarah Palin cannot show up in the news without a barrage of vicious attacks from the media. Although she is no longer a candidate for vice president, the vitriol continues to spew over the release of her book, "Going Rogue: An American Life." Many think the anti-Sarah sentiment stems from her solid pro-life position but I would like to explore reasons that go way beyond her feelings about abortion. As you look back in history to the late 1960s and 1970s, you see a wave of feminist ideals...

Palin to face another ethics battle By Tony Romm - 12/05/09 09:35 AM ET Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) faced yet another ethics complaint on Friday: This time, for allegedly using state resources "for partisan political purposes" during the 2008 campaign. Under state law, elected officials may not "use or authorize the use of state funds, facilities, equipment, services, or another government asset or resource" for campaigning, stumping or politicking. But Palin, argues Andree McLeod -- a local activist who has filed many ethics complains against the former Alaska governor -- sought political advice from her staff and asked...

Palin backs questions on Obama citizenshipSaturday, December 5, 2009 Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin is lending her support to a conspiracy theory promoted by fringe groups, saying of the idea that President Obama may not have an American birth certificate, "I think the public rightfully is still making it an issue." Palin's comments came in an interview Thursday on "The Rusty Humphries Show," a conservative radio program, while promoting her book about the 2008 presidential campaign, "Going Rogue." "I think it's a fair question, just like I think past associations and past voting records -- all of that is fair...

The money line is Buchanan asserting that she did the smart thing politically since Birthers are, after all, a chunk of the GOP base and all she really defended was their right to ask questions. Ace made a similar point today: Politics is politics, so if you have to toss a small bone to your fringies now and then to keep them focused on your broader agenda, so be it. Eh, I don’t buy it. I agree that being snotty to your fringies is dumb and likely to lose you votes, but there are ways to tactfully disagree with them....

(snip) Please, governor Palin, let's put this behind us. Only you can. I pledge to post any and all material you can provide debunking these stories soon as I receive any. Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin defended the public's right to question the legitimacy of President Obama's birth certificate, but noted that she is not demanding for it to be released. Appearing on conservative radio host Rusty Humphries program, Palin said that she supports people inquiring about it. "I think the public rightfully is still making it an issue," Palin said in the interview with Humphries. "I don't have a problem with that. I don't know if I would have to bother to make it an issue, because I think that members of the electorate still want answers." Humphries, whose radio...

Here is video of MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell today talking with Politico's Jonathan Martin about Gov. Sarah Palin's remarks yesterday that President Obama's Birth Certificate is "fair game" as an issue. Martin said Palin tried to "walk back" her comments today by making a post on her Facebook at 1:00 AM in which she said she has never questioned President Obama's Birth Certificate. Martin seems to think Palin made the comments because she knew she was talking to a conservative audience, and did not think about it getting out to a wider audience. . . . (VIDEO)

Sarah Palin scrambled away from the birther movement last night after giving them a wink and a nod on a conservative radio talk show yesterday. Posting on her Facebook page at 1:16am, Palin writes that, "at no point – not during the campaign, and not during recent interviews – have I asked the president to produce his birth certificate or suggested that he was not born in the United States." She tries to dismiss her birther flirtation as just an acknowledgment of voters' right to know: "Voters have every right to ask candidates for information if they so choose. I’ve...

I didn’t want to write about Sarah Palin anymore. Really, I didn’t want to. God, I didn’t want to. But every time I think I’m out, she pulls me back in. Face it, my friends. If Sarah Palin’s nugatory understanding of everything from foreign affairs to economic matters doesn’t cause you concern, if her predilection to expand, exaggerate, or fudge the truth about herself and her past statements hasn’t yet convinced you that she is a lightweight prevaricator and doesn’t deserve your support, then this exchange with conservative talker Rusty Humphries should change your mind: Would you make the birth...

The Birther movement is convinced that President Obama is not a natural-born citizen and hence is constitutionally prohibited from being President. Most Birthers claim that Obama was born in Kenya, while others think his birth occurred in Indonesia. Even though Obama has released a copy of his birth certificate showing that he was born on Oahu, these conspiracy theories continue to animate the fanatical right. What is most surprising about these conspiracy theories is the number of relatively mainstream people willing to associate themselves with the Birthers or at least recognize the issue as a legitimate controversy. One of CNN’s...

The public is "rightfully" making questions about Barack Obama's eligibility to be president into an issue, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin declared yesterday.
