At a news conference in Afghanistan early Friday morning, Gen. John Nicholson, the commander of U.S. forces in Afghanistan, said the U.S. military coordinated yesterday's historic bomb attack on ISIS with the government of Afghanistan. "The enemy uses tunnels and minefields to move around the battlefield and protect themselves from attacks from Afghan and U.S. forces," Nicholson said. Washington (CNN)The United States on Thursday dropped the most powerful non-nuclear bomb in its military arsenal for the first time in history.But President Donald Trump declined to say whether he personally signed off on the use of the GBU-43/B MOAB, also known as the "mother of all bombs," in a strike on ISIS militants in Afghanistan. "Everybody knows exactly what happens. So, what I do is I authorize our military," Trump said when asked whether he authorized the strike. "We have given them total authorization and that's what they're doing."

U.S. forces have dropped what is known as the "mother of all bombs" in Afghanistan. The device is the largest non-nuclear device in the Air Force arsenal, Fox News' Jennifer Griffin reported. It was dropped in Nangarhar Province, an eastern area near the Pakistan border. It's the first time the 21,000-pound ordnance has been used in combat, said Griffin. The device, developed in 2003 by the U.S. Air Force, is called the M.O.A.B, short for Massive Ordnance Air Blast. It's often referred to as the "mother of all bombs." Watch the report above.

At least five personnel of the NATO-led Resolute Support (RS) mission lost their lives in a helicopter crash in capital Kabul this afternoon. A statement by the alliance said “A coalition helicopter assigned to the Resolute Support Mission crashed due to a non-hostile incident Oct. 11 at approximately 4:15 p.m. at Camp Resolute Support, Kabul, Afghanistan.” The statement further added “The incident resulted in the death of five Resolute Support personnel and the injury of five others.”

Three doctors of a Medicines Sans Frontiers (MSF) hospital were killed as an air strike targeted the MSF medical facility in Afghanistan's northern Kunduz city on Saturday, the MSF said in a statement.
