The FBI had an open investigation on the leader of a black nationalist group who shot a Dallas paramedic on Monday and killed another man. Derick Lamont Brown was under investigation for his ties to the New Black Panther Party and an associated group, the Huey P. Newton Gun Club, NBC DFW reports. Dallas police say Brown killed his 67-year-old roommate and shot a neighbor Monday morning. He shot a paramedic responding to the scene of the shooting and then opened fire on police as they arrived. SOUTH ORANGE -- Police plan to boost patrols after officers from several departments were needed to disperse at least 300 young people who gathered in downtown South Orange late Saturday, sparking fights and blocking traffic. South Orange Police Chief Kyle Kroll said Tuesday the crowd contained a mix of village teens and others from nearby communities, including Newark, East Orange and Irvington residents, who apparently arrived by public transportation. Authorities say the man suspected of fatally stabbing one student and wounding three others at the University of Texas was suffering from mental health troubles. University Police Chief David Carter says that 21-year-old Kendrex J. White was recently involuntarily committed in another city. AUSTIN (KXAN) — Authorities are responding to reports of a stabbing on the University of Texas at Austin campus Monday afternoon. Austin police say they’re assisting university police at 2101 Speedway, which is near Gregory Gym. Austin-Travis County EMS says they are responding to reports of multiple people stabbed. The agency says one person has died and three more were injured. Austin police say they have one person in custody. A KXAN intern says authorities have evacuated Gregory Gym as of 2:10 p.m.

NACO – An incomplete cross-border tunnel was uncovered by a construction worker clearing old fencing near Naco. According to Christopher Sullivan, a public information officer and Border Patrol agent based out of the Tucson sector, the construction worker contacted Tucson Sector Border Patrol agents at the Brian A. Terry Station to report a “possible smuggling tunnel.” Following an investigation, agents discovered the unfinished tunnel. “The tunnel was approximately 15 feet deep and extended into the United States about four feet from the international boundary fence,” he said. “The tunnel has no ventilation or lighting.” The tunnel has already been filled...

A Delaware State Police trooper has died after being shot in the parking lot of a Wawa convenience store Wednesday, and one of the suspects remains barricaded in his home, authorities said. Cpl. Stephen J. Ballard, 32, approached a suspicious vehicle occupied by two suspects outside a Wawa in Bear, Del., when one of the suspects got out of the vehicle and fired several shots, striking the trooper shortly after noon, Delaware State Police said.

Two women were out at dawn Wednesday doing what people around the Sacramento region do every day – walking on a neighborhood high school track – when they were attacked by a strange man who began punching and kicking them, police said. DAVIS, Calif. (KCRA) — Two officers injured when they were attacked Saturday during the annual Picnic Day festivities in Davis, police said Monday. The officers were taken to the hospital for treatment; their conditions on Monday were unknown. A recent string of robberies on BART trains took a frightening turn when dozens of juveniles swarmed an Oakland station over the weekend and commandeered a train car, forcing passengers to hand over bags and cell phones and leaving at least two with head injuries, witnesses told the transit agency. Clackamas County sheriff’s deputies have arrested a 24-year-old man who they say doused a customer with gasoline at Denny’s Wednesday night and then lit him on fire.
