Police from many surrounding communities are searching the area near Sayton Road in Fox Lake. Some media agencies are reporting that an officer was shot. Police scanner traffic indicates police from Antioch, Ingleside, Lake County and Fox Lake and Grayslake are searching an area along Rollins Road near Route 59 and Route 12. FOX LAKE, Illinois -- Sources tell Tribune partner WGN that a Fox Lake police officer has died after being shot Tuesday morning, September 1st. Sources tell WGN that the officer's gun and pepper spray was taken. Meanwhile, police are searching for two suspects: one white male and one black male. There is also possibly a third suspect. Multiple helicopters and K-9s are searching the area. WGN reports Rollins Road between Washington Avenue and Route 59 is closed and all area schools are on lockdown.
