Unemployment has dropped in recent years, yet still—far too many people are participating. One out of every seven Americans received SNAP benefits in 2014, and the program cost $74.1 billion, making it one of the largest means-tested welfare program. You’d think the improving jobs situation would translate to the number of SNAP beneficiaries declining by a much larger margin. But that hasn’t been the case. Another reason for saying that food stamp numbers aren’t really going in the right direction? Look at how the SNAP demographic has changed. Before the 2008 recession, 55 percent of SNAP households consisted of children...

A federal judge in Texas has put President Obama’s deportation amnesty on hold, while another judge in the District of Columbia is poised to rule any day now on whether the House can sue to stop parts of the administration’s Obamacare spending. Meanwhile, no fewer than six federal judges in the District are refereeing Mr. Obama’s broad pledges of transparency and how they stack up against the way his State Department operated under Hillary Rodham Clinton as secretary. Indeed, much of Mr. Obama’s agenda — and his legacy — sits in the hands of federal judges across the country, who...

Harris County deputy Darren Goforth, in uniform, was pumping gas into his patrol car when the gunman approached from behind and fired several shots, sheriff's officials said. No motive has been reported. Hickman expressed outrage at the shooting, which occurred as demonstrators nationwide have been protesting police killings of unarmed minorities, in particular black men. "Our system of justice absolutely requires a law enforcement presence to protect our communities, so at any point where the rhetoric ramps up to the point where calculated cold-blooded assassination of police officers happen(s). This rhetoric has gotten out of control," Hickman said. "We've heard...

There is a vile online movement out there which is getting almost ZERO coverage in the media, but which is very much a part of Barack Obama's coalition of voters. In fact, he's twitter following one of the leaders. You may want to inform yourself about this, but be forewarned, there are some images of black leftists desecrating the US flag in ways that may make your blood boil. It's pretty disgusting. Not exactly NSFW, but close. http://www.breitbart.com/texas/2015/08/26/fukyoflag-threatens-veteran-pregnant-wife-and-fing-piece-of-s-unborn-creature/

Warped TV reporter Vester Lee Flanagan exasperated bosses with his 'stiff and nervous' delivery, his inability to use a teleprompter - and by wearing a President Obama badge during an election report, Daily Mail Online can reveal. Management at WDBJ dubbed the failed newsman the 'human tape recorder' because he frequently parroted what interviewees had told him rather than doing his own journalism. Flanagan, 41, clashed repeatedly with photojournalists, belittling them in public and intimidating them with his violent temper, according to internal reports. He was also censured for wearing an Obama sticker while recording a segment at a polling...

Two hours after Vester Flanagan, 41, shot and killed two journalists in Virginia on Wednesday morning, he faxed ABC News a manifesto. In the manifesto, Flanagan writes the Charleston church shooting, in which Dylann Roof killed nine African-American worshippers earlier this summer, "sent [him] over the top." He also said Jehovah told him to commit the shooting. Flanagan had previously attempted to pitch the news channel a story and had contacted them several weeks prior to the shooting.

In a preview of an interview with President Barack Obama set to air tomorrow on Philadelphia ABC affiliate WPVI, the president reacted to the WDBJ shooting earlier in the day with commentary on what he described as “gun-related incidents.” “It breaks my heart every time you read about or hear about these kinds of incidents,” Obama said. “What we know, is that the number of people who die from gun-related incidents around this country dwarfs any deaths that happen through terrorism.”

The 41-year-old who claimed responsibility for the on-air slayings of a Virginia TV reporter and her cameraman had a track record of claiming racism in the workplace and wrote a 23-page manifesto that called the Charleston, South Carolina church shooting the final straw before he bought a gun. In the letter sent to ABC News two hours after the shooting, Vester Lee Flanagan II--who was raised a Jehovah's Witness in California--details his sinister reasoning for Wednesday's slaying. Dylann Roof, the Virginia Tech shooter, Columbine and Jehovah himself all factored in, he wrote. 'As for Dylann Roof? You (deleted)! You want...

A fax attributed to Vester Lee Flanagan claims the slayings were a response to the Charleston mass shooting. An apparent suicide note received by ABC News on Wednesday morning and attributed to Virginia shooting suspect Flanagan, aka Bryce Williams, claims the killing of two reporters during an on-air interview was motivated by the Charleston church shooting and a desire to incite a “race war.” ABC News says a man identifying himself as both Flanagan and Williams — Flanagan's on-air name — first contacted it several weeks ago. The man asked for a fax number, claiming he wanted to pitch the...

A man claiming to be Bryce Williams called ABC News over the last few weeks, saying he wanted to pitch a story, and wanted to fax information. He never told ABC News what the story was. This morning, a fax was in the machine (time stamped 8:26 a.m.)almost two hours after the shooting. A little after 10 a.m., he called again, and introduced himself as Bryce, but also said his legal name was Vester Lee Flanagan, and that he shot two people this morning. While on the phone, he said authorities are “after me,” and “all over the place.” He...

The liberal media has been fueling racial violence for years, publishing lies about Trayvon Martin, Hands Up Don't Shoot, the Baltimore riots, etc. It's only ironic that reporters are now the victims of the very monsters they helped to create. Alison Parker and Adam Ward were members of a fraternity that has been complicit in keeping our society honest. Maybe this double murder in Virginia of two unarmed white journalists by a black man with a gun is the wake up call they need to start doing their job and hold people accountable?
  • Team Obama wins mercy for a sponsor of terrorism

Back in February, a Manhattan federal jury sent a critical message about holding the perpetrators of terror responsible: It found the Palestinian Authority liable for six attacks and assessed $218.5 million in damages. But on Monday, thanks to Team Obama, that message was all but obliterated. After an unusual intercession by the State and Justice departments, the judge hearing the case ordered the PA to post $10 million cash plus another $1 million a month as a bond while the case is appealed. That’s a far cry from the $30 million a month the victorious plaintiffs had sought. And it’s...
  • The Fed hike could LOWER interest rates

The public has been seemingly desperate for the Federal Reserve to raise interest rates. "Savers are getting creamed here," has been a common refrain. "Banks are getting crushed." "Zero percent sends a bad message, it undermines confidence." Even the experts seem upset by the inertia: "It's simply time," has become another popular phrase. Imagine what would happen, then, if the Fed raised rates—and they dropped even lower, instead. That's effectively what's happening today. Even if the Fed hasn't raised interest rates, it has stopped lowering them, and it has stopped the balance-sheet expansion that replaced rate cuts once its target...

There are times when excessive attention to monthly data reporting what’s up, what’s down, can be allowed to obscure underlying structural changes in an economy. With the game of what-will-Yellen-do-next in full flow, this is one of those times. No, the proverbial tectonic plates are not shifting, whatever that phrase might mean when applied to an economy other than one in the throes of an irreversible Margaret Thatcher-style revolution. But there are significant trends underway, trends that are unlikely to be reversed and which, as they play out, will result in an American economy considerably different from the one we...

The DHS has been releasing illegal immigrants with violent criminal records back into local U.S. communities, where they have often gone on to commit violent crimes against American citizens, according to new disclosures by a leading lawmaker and local law enforcement agencies. Rep. Matt Salmon (R., Ariz.) and law enforcement officials petitioned the Obama administration to end a policy that enables illegal immigrants with criminal records to be released back into the US. Arizona law enforcement officials announced on Tuesday that three illegal aliens with violent criminal records had been released by DHS and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) back...

The U.S. manufacturing sector is once again under pressure as it continues to hover just above contraction level, according to the latest flash Purchasing Managers Index data. Friday, private research firm Markit said its August PMI estimate fell to a level of 52.9, compared to July’s final reading of 53.8. According to consensus reports, economists were expecting to see a reading at 53.9. According to the report, this is the lowest manufacturing reading since October 2013. ““With the headline PMI swiftly losing ground after a modest rebound during July, the latest figure now points to the weakest overall pace of...
