“I do not fear Trump. We must thank the new American president because he showed the real face of America and because he exposed what we have been saying for decades about the political, moral and economic corruption in it.” This is the recent statement made by Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei against the newly-elected US administration. Yes, we’re passing through a new phase. There has been a major transformation following the reactive years of isolationism which show the depth of the roots that America has returned to in terms of engaging with world crises and contributing to managing...

Monday is “Deregulation Day” for the federal government as declared by President Donald Trump, and thus is an opportune time to deliver the findings of The Heritage Foundation’s latest tracking of regulation. The bad news is that the final year of the Obama administration brought the private-sector costs of its reign of regulatory excess to $122 billion a year. And that’s the low-ball figure. On the other hand, the Trump administration, in its first six months, launched a multifaceted reform agenda that has slowed regulatory output. Some rules have been blocked and others rescinded, along with the withdrawal of hundreds...

PM Binali Yildirim said it might be necessary to take action because Iraq and the US had not kept their promises. He said both countries had allowed Shia militias and Kurdish separatists to take part in the operation. Iraqi PM Haider al-Abadi on Saturday told the US that there was no need for Turkish forces as yet. Fighting on the sixth day of the offensive on Saturday was reported to be intense, as the Iraqi military seized more ground. ... Correspondents say Mr Abadi's refusal to countenance the prospect of Turkish involvement in the Mosul offensive could upset Turkish President...

Obama Got His 3 a.m. Call. He Decided To Sleep Through It. —Ace Drudge highlights part of the story that the LA Times, of course, does not. The president was updated throughout the evening, and notified late Tuesday that Stevens was unaccounted for. Obama learned Wednesday that Stevens was confirmed dead Wednesday morning, the official said. Man needs his rest. He's in Vegas right now. You can't do Vegas right if you're short of sleep. By the way, the media is all dutifully reporting the Obama line: That while he is jetting his ass off to Las Vegas, "it's not...

Bulgarian media on Thursday named the suicide bomber who blew up a bus full of Israeli tourists, killing five Israelis and a local bus driver, in the Black Sea resort of Burgas on Wednesday as 36-year-old Mehdi Ghezali. Ghezali reportedly arrived in Bulgaria five weeks before the bombing and arrived at the airport via taxi, Channel 2 reported. He was also reportedly given the bomb by someone else, but no further details were provided. [Snip] Ghezali has a Wikipedia page, which describes him as a Swedish citizen, with Algerian and Finnish origins. He had been held at the US’s...

Sure, limiting the list to the nine worst mistakes of the Obama administration in a year that saw so many of them was a tough proposition. But in the spirit of Christmas, I decided to be merciful and not pile on. Plus, you know, I have company coming over. So for now, nine will have to do. Why nine? Quoting Bluto from Animal House sans burp: “Why the hell not.” I’ve included links and snippets from my columns addressing each topic:9) Sending a budget to Capitol Hill that didn’t get one vote:Calculate the man-hours that went into presenting to...

485,000 workers had been terminated from the auto industry while only 67,000 had been rehired with the $85 billion bailout from the government...More than $1 million per rehired worker is a horrible return on investment! Other manufacturers, like Boeing, are being forced by the government to hire union employees, so many are moving even more manufacturing out of the U.S. And the costs for Obama's programs continue to rise. Obamacare ...unemployment will remain high for at least the next three years. ... this administration has increased government spending at the twice the rate of any previous government in the history...

The White House today released its unclassified review summary of the administration failures surrounding the latest terrorist attack on U.S. soil, the Christmas underwear bomber. Delayed twice reportedly over exactly what should and should not be declassified, President Obama made remarks at the release of information that for all intents and purposes told little or nothing new. At a presser following the release of the report, Deputy National Security Adviser John Brennan and Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano were asked what they found most shocking about the declassified review. “We didn’t know they had actually reached the point...
