  • Volunteer Firefighter to NY Gov. Cuomo: Why I Own an “Assault Rifle”

    The Truth About Guns ^ | 10 January, 2013 | Kevin
I am a 19-year-old volunteer firefighter living in New York. I also own an AR-15 rifle that is ban compliant. This means that I have spent well over a thousand dollars buying and modifying the rifle to make it legal in NY State, something that people in other states with less violent crime do not need to do. My AR-15 is the best home defense weapon possible for me to own in NY. As I am not yet 21, I cannot apply for a permit to purchase a pistol. Even so, I believe that my rifle is perfect for me....
  • `The Danger of Symbolic Actions` ~ Fox`s The Five Retaliates Against Gawker (as do I)

I have uploaded to my MRCTV account Foxe's "The Five" the retaliation by them of posting Gawker's founder's phone number. Remember, Gawker publishes 400 plus pages of gun-owners addresses putting the lives of those now known by criminals to NOT own guns, criminal justice personnel and families lives in danger (police, D.A.'s, Judges, and the like). So, I took it a step further and posted links to talk to Nick Denton's (Gawker's founder) boyfriend, Derrence Washington, and his family in Houston Texas. I am sure they would love to hear that their addresses could easily be posted (as they are...

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Staten Island immigrants as a group were hit hard by Hurricane Sandy and continue to suffer economic and emotional hardships. But most, perhaps 60 percent, haven't applied to FEMA for help, with the fear of deportation a major factor. And even if they have filled out the paperwork, chances are they'll be denied, according to the advocacy group Make the Road New York. Farmer Agustin Juarez of Port Richmond, a member of the group, expressed frustration that he suffered thousands of dollars in damage in the storm but isn't eligible for FEMA assistance because he's not...

NEW YORK (Reuters) - A suburban New York newspaper that sparked an uproar among gun enthusiasts by publishing names and addresses of residents holding pistol permits is now planning to publish even more identities of permit-toting locals. Further names and addresses will be added as they become available to a map originally published on December 24 in the White Plains, New York-based Journal News, the newspaper said. The original map listed thousands of pistol permit holders in suburban Westchester and Rockland counties just north of New York City. Along with an article entitled "The gun owner next door: What you...

The Monday article in The Journal News was headlined "The gun owner next door: What you don't know about the weapons in your neighborhood," and was in response to the Dec. 14 school shooting in Newtown, Conn. Shortly before 1 p.m. on that Thursday afternoon, Dickan walked into the cellular phone store on Commercial Drive, with a .357 magnum in his hand, and a list in his pocket containing the six names of the AT&T store employees to which he was holding such deep anger, and planned to kill as a result. "The suspect...

A veteran Democratic lawmaker believes the nation will go along with stronger gun control laws if President Obama “exploits” the Newtown, Conn., tragedy and nudges Congress to action. Rep. Jerrold Nadler, who represents portions of New York City, said he was encouraged by Mr. Obama’s statement on Friday afternoon that the mass shooting, which claimed the lives of 20 young children, requires “meaningful action” by Congress, but hopes those words turn into concrete legislation.

As the din of America’s falling headfirst over the fiscal cliff reverberates across the nation, the Obama administration is quietly killing a key economic metric that tells how, and how many, people are voting with their feet. Since 1991 the Internal Revenue Service has been compiling statistics on filers’ addresses, which the agency’s Statistics of Income division uses to show who is moving into and out of every county and state in the nation. As you’d expect, the IRS also knows the aggregate income levels of those who move. So the movements of the most fundamental productive components of the...

Nechemya Weberman, an unlicensed counselor accused of sexually abusing a 12-year-old girl in his care, testified Wednesday that he ripped off a charity he founded ostensibly to help poor Brooklynites. “You used this not-for-profit for personal gain?” asked a Brooklyn prosecutor. “Yes I did,” Weberman replied, admitting that he spent donations meant for his group, B’Lev V’Nefesh, on tuition for his kids’ yeshiva — and that its cash was also spent at stores like BMG Corset & Lingerie. Creepy, sure. But par for the course in New York, where politicians routinely turn nonprofits into personal piggy banks. For example:

On the very day that Apple announced it will begin building more computers in the United States, a who’s who of the business world called for a major push to educate the next generation of technology workers. Speaking at a forum sponsored by the Daily News and U.S. News & World Report, IBM Vice President Stanley Litow projected that the so-called STEM fields — science, technology, engineering and math — will spawn 14 million new jobs in the near future. But Google Chairman Eric Schmidt warned that the American education system will need a “massive overhaul” for America’s young people...
