WASHINGTON — U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson, 6-foot-4 in a pink shirt and black cowboy boots, sighs as he reaches for his suit jacket. "You have to look out for the trackers," he says. ¶ Armed with video cameras, trackers follow politically vulnerable lawmakers, hurling provocative questions and hoping for a juicy reaction. "Rep. Alan Grayson assaults a cameraman," beckons one clip on the Internet. Grayson decides to take the underground route to the Capitol, where 10 votes await on a Thursday afternoon, avoiding having to cross Independence Avenue and a potential run-in with a tracker. Such is the hardball, YouTube...

A follow-up to my post last weekend about what a disgraceful, denialist crank this guy is. Let me go in chronological order, as there’s so much here that’s either dumb or dishonest that I’ll overlook something if I don’t. 1. Who are the mysterious “neocons” who forced poor Barack Obama to disclose the secret Qom site, which Paul would have you believe he didn’t want to do even though he’s been preparing to do it for months? Or have I misunderstood and he’s actually suggesting that Obama’s been duped and that there’s no secret Qom site at all, even though...

Honduras' ousted president addressed the United Nations General Assembly by cellular phone late Monday from the Brazilian embassy in his country where he is holed up, calling on the world body to guarantee his personal safety and turn back the "dictatorship" that has taken power. "Those who still harbored any doubt that a dictatorship has been installed here can lay those doubts to rest," Manuel Zelaya said via a telephone brought to the General Assembly podium by his foreign minister, Patricia Rodas. "This is a fascist dictatorship that has repressed the Honduran people." Zelaya sought refuge at the Brazilian Embassy...

If you think speeches attacking the U.S. Federal Reserve couldn't excite a Friday night crowd on a college campus, think again. About 2,000 people -- students and older adults who were in the majority -- filled Northrop Auditorium at the University of Minnesota to cheer libertarian Rep. Ron Paul, a Texas Republican, as he joined Rep. Michele Bachmann to preach the gospel of a less powerful federal government. Before Bachmann, R-Minn., introduced Paul, she hailed legislation of his that would require a detailed audit of the Fed. The crowd jumped to its feet and roared approval. When she described the...

Sallie Peake says the policy also includes vehicle chases along with pursuits on foot. China alarmed by US money printing The US Federal Reserve's policy of printing money to buy Treasury debt threatens to set off a serious decline of the dollar and compel China to redesign its foreign reserve policy, according to a top member of the Communist hierarchy By Comment on this article Working for the Yankee dollar: Beijing is said to be dismayed by the Fed's recourse to 'credit easing' Photo: Reuters Cheng Siwei, former vice-chairman of the Standing Committee and now head of China's green energy drive, said Beijing was dismayed by the Fed's recourse to "credit easing". Cat Stevens has said that he believes that Coldplay's hit 'Viva La Vida' is a take-off of his own song, 'Foreigner Suite'. Coldplay recently denied accusations by guitarist Joe Satriani, who claims that the band ripped him off for the song – but Stevens has since told The Sun that it's he who the band had been taking inspiration from. "There's been this argument about Coldplay stealing this melody from Joe Satriani," he said. "But, if you listen to it, it's mine! It's the [1973 song] 'Foreigner Suite', it is!" Stevens did not suggest that he would take legal action...

FRONT ROYAL, Va. – A soldier dressed and wearing face-paint like Batman villain The Joker was shot and killed by police in the Shenandoah National Park after he pointed a loaded shotgun at them after a chase, an FBI affidavit says. Army Spc. By Chuck Norris, For The Bulletin On Glenn Beck’s radio show last week, I quipped, in response to our wayward federal government, “I may run for president of Texas.” That need may be a reality sooner than we think. If not I, someone someday may again be running for president of the Lone Star State, if the state of the union continues to turn into the enemy of the state. From the East Coast to the “Left Coast,” America seems to be moving farther and farther from its Founders’ vision and government. George Washington advised, “The great rule of conduct...

This past week, Gov. Chris Gregoire of Washington State allowed—in the spirit of multiculturalism and intellectual-immolation for which the Northwest is (in)famous—a large sign to be placed next to a Nativity scene and a Christmas holiday tree (and a menorah) in the Legislative Building in Olympia, Washington: "At this season of THE WINTER SOLSTICE may reason prevail. There are no gods, no devils, no angels, no heaven or hell. There is only our natural world. Religion is but myth and superstition that hardens hearts and enslaves minds." Yes, I am truly shocked: I cannot believe that a Nativity scene and...

On his program today on WHO 1040, conservative radio host Jan Mickelson interviewed a California dentist who is part of a lawsuit challenging Barack Obama’s qualifications to be president. Orly Taitz, along with perennial Republican presidential candidate Alan Keyes, filed a lawsuit contending that California Secretary of State Debra Bowen and Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger shouldn’t be allowed to certify the presidential election results for electors until Obama or his supporters provide proof of his natural-born citizenship in the United States. Conservative bloggers maintained during the presidential election that Obama was born in Kenya and had citizenship in other countries, thus...

This is inappropriate and should be illegal on the public's free airways. CBS could have easily cut that from what we thought was a family movie.

He said Ms. Todd posed as a supporter of former Arkansas governor and presidential candidate Mike Huckabee and called the local Republican committee seeking information about its campaign strategies. Rush Limbaugh, many talk radio hosts on the right, and many conservatives have only one objective in this election which is to defeat John McCain at any cost. They failed to defeat McCain in the primaries so they are now focusing all their efforts to defeat him in the general elections. How are they going to achieve their objective? It is very simple. Work very hard on taking out the weaker democrat in the general elections and in this case it is Barack Obama. Hillary Clinton is a much stronger candidate than Obama in the general elections and she has...

HARLINGEN — A woman with multiple oustanding warrants failed to appear in court Monday and in so doing may have doubled the number of warrants and fines she owes. Valerie Ortiz Sanchez was scheduled to appear in municipal court to set up a plan to resolve more than $15,000 in delinquent fines, officials said. Ortiz Sanchez, 31, now faces new charges for failing to appear in court about two weeks after police discovered she had 76 outstanding warrants that dated back to 1998. “Seventy six warrants — again,” Court Administrator Cindy Weaver said after a bailiff locked the court’s doors...

It all happened in less than three hours on a cool September night — a prolific spurt of anti-Jewish vandalism at more than a dozen locations in the heart of Brooklyn Heights. The man, Ivaylo Ivanov, admitted under videotaped questioning that he was behind the spree, which had mystified investigators for months, the police said. And later Monday evening, after Mr. Ivanov’s arraignment...

Trevor Lyman, the Miami Beach music promoter-turned-campaign fundraising guru, fell short of his goal to raise $2.5 million online Friday for Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul. Lyman's fundraising website at www.rudysreadinglist.com collected about half a million dollars. On Nov. 5, Lyman made campaign fundraising history when he raked in $4.2 million for the little-known Texas congressman over the Internet in a single day. Now, Lyman -- who has never voted, let alone worked on a campaign before...

He won’t win the nomination. He won’t win any primaries. But for Ron Paul’s quixotic bid for the White House, it’s “Mission Accomplished.” In the past few months, Ron Paul has dramatically raised the profile of libertarianism inside the Republican Party. My small-l libertarian friends seem more comfortable describing themselves as such, even though they’ll go out of their way to disassociate themselves from Ron Paul and the big-L kind. Libertarianism in the GOP took a big hit on 9/11, and it’s slowly coming back, with Ron Paul as the catalyst. Its underlying ideals still have appeal well beyond the...

Governor Spitzer last week announced that he will direct the Commissioner of the Department of Motor Vehicles to grant drivers licenses to illegal aliens, by repealing a 2002 regulation. As Chair of the New York State Standing Committee on Veterans, Homeland Security and Military Affairs, I am strongly opposed to this new policy. Before this action by the Governor, New York State was the national benchmark for assuring the security and reliability of its drivers licenses. A drivers license is the most important, uniformly recognized identification document used in the United States. This action by the Governor would seriously place...

A quick note to our readers. With the anniversary of September 11 right around the corner, bin Laden releasing a video, and the CIA warning of attacks here in the U.S. I thought I should inform readers of the "American Hiroshima Project." This "project" is a nuclear attack planned for several major U.S. cities. The investigative journalist Paul Williams wrote a book called "The Day Of Islam" covering the subject. Do a search of the title and see what you get for results. It is not a pretty picture. I pray to The One True God, Jehova, that this plot...

(IsraelNN.com) In two articles appearing in Middle Eastern newspapers this week, Islamist leaders pointed out what they said were new Zionist plots. In an Iranian publication, the worldwide Harry Potter phenomenon was declared a global Zionist conspiracy, while an Arab newspaper quoted a Sudanese leader blaming Jews for Sudan's own Arab-on-Black genocidal civil war. %ad% Kayhahn, an Iranian publication closely affiliated with the ruling mullahs and Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, called the Harry Potter series "a billion-dollar Zionist project." The Potter books were designed by Zionist plotters, according to the Kayhahn editorial, to "disrupt young minds." Khamenei had criticized...

Republican presidential candidate, Rep. Ron Paul, said the country is in "great danger" of the U.S. government staging a terrorist attack or a Gulf of Tonkin style provocation, as the war in Iraq continues to deteriorate. The Texas congressman offered no specifics nor mentioned President Bush by name, but he clearly insinuated that the administration would not be above staging an incident to revive flagging support. During the radio interview, Paul said the government was conducting "an orchestrated effort to blame the Iranians for everything that has gone wrong in Iraq."

Al Gore is both leading the fight against climate change and coming back from political oblivion ONCE he was the nearly man of American politics, but this weekend Al Gore, Bill Clinton’s former sidekick, made it clear he was back, no longer just a politician but a phenomenon: the first global green celebrity. Ga. judge: Keep Potter books in schoolThe adventures of boy wizard Harry Potter can stay in Gwinnett County school libraries, despite a mother's objections, a judge ruled Tuesday. The commentary reminded readers that Watson...
