There is a lot of speculation about the recent number of sudden deaths we read about in the news. I'm wondering, what have you witnessed in your own life? Here's what I've seen. 2 years ago, 26 year old brother of a friend died suddenly. Last year my uncle had a stroke. Last week a student from my daughter's school died. Nothing definite, but really makes me think "hmm". What about you? Have you seen anything that seems unusual like this in your life?

From the video description:Herman's Hermits are an English beat rock and pop group formed in 1964 in Manchester, originally called Herman and His Hermits and featuring lead singer Peter Noone. Produced by Mickie Most, they charted with number ones in the UK and in America, where they ranked as one of the most successful acts in the Beatles-led British Invasion. They also appeared in four films, two of them vehicles for the band.Their chart debut was a cover of Gerry Goffin and Carole King's "I'm into Something Good" (a then recent US Top 40 hit for Earl-Jean). In September 1964...

After enjoying years of taxpayer-funded protection from agencies and departments, many of which avail themselves of AR-15 rifles, Hillary Clinton tweeted Friday, “No one actually needs an AR-15.” This is not the first time Clinton has a taken a position against guns that runs totally counter to the fact she has spent many years of her life living with the peace of mind that comes from being protected by good guys with guns. Following the December 2, 2015, San Bernardino attack that killed 14, Clinton said, “Guns, in and of themselves…will not make Americans safer.”

Over the past few months, I have found Boortz' radio show to be very thought provoking and even though I have posted bits and pieces of what was discussed that day in other threads, I wanted to throw out the idea of a Boortz Live Thread. Let me know if you are interested and I will develop a PING List and will try my best to post the thread each day. Let me also know if you are willing to co-post the thread if I am unable to post on a certain day.

Single-issue people. They're out there... on every thread. No matter what the topic, they try to link it to their pet issue in some way, shape, or form. They are... The Thread Hijackersâ„¢. While little can be done to stop them, and it is probably best to ignore them, I find it much, much more fun to mock them. Sure, being passionate about an issue you care about is a good thing, but thread hijacking is annoying and, to be honest, turns off people who might otherwise agree with you. So, on to the mocking. I'd like to coin the...

Are America's youth graduating from college with a language proficiency that goes beyond "duh"? That's a question that has puzzled educators and literary experts as they perused recent adult literary assessment results that show reading proficiency among college graduates has tumbled in the past decade. An astounded Michael Gorman, president of the American Library Association, said only 31 percent of college graduates can read a complex book and extrapolate from it. "That's not saying much for the remainder." Experts admit to not knowing how to explain the decline in reading comprehension. What's disturbing, said Mark S. Schneider, commissioner of the...

The purpose of FreeRepublic.com's multiple message boards is to limit the topics for each board to particular topics. Posting the same message on all the boards defeats the purpose of multiple-boards for special topics. It is very annoying to see the same message on every bulletin board. PLEASE! DO THE READERS A FAVOR. STOP CROSS-POSTING YOUR MESSAGES!

It seems we have unleashed yet another bit of bastardized English; this one is "my bad".
