This weekend I will watch no TV, listen to no football and read no news. Instead I’ll watch the chlorophyll challenged trees transitioning to their winter state,rocks migrating out to sea,and rivers flowing slowly but inevitably into Lake Michigan.  Maybe I’ll photograph some of the famous barns of Grand Traverse county.Mostly I’ll just let the world go about it’s business without my participation. A man has been arrested and charged with criminal mischief in connection to damages to Trump's golf club in New Jersey, according to a report Saturday. Somerset County prosecutors announced the arrest of Clifford Tillotson, a 61-year-old Hawaii resident, accoding to Central New Jersey News.

President Trump's inaugural committee announced it intends to donate $3 million to several organizations assisting with hurricane relief, following criticism for not donating the outstanding funds sooner. The money will be divided equally between the American Red Cross, the Salvation Army, and Samaritan's Purse, Thomas Barrack Jr., chairman of the private Presidential Inaugural Committee said. The three organizations have been involved with hurricane relief efforts in the Gulf Coast, Florida, and the Caribbean.

Two of the largest veterans organizations in the country are slamming National Football League (NFL) players who kneel during the national anthem. Denise Rohan, national commander of the American Legion, said in a statement that professional athletes and others who do not respect the national anthem are “misguided and ungrateful.” “Having a right to do something does not make it the right thing to do,” Rohan said. “There are many ways to protest, but the national anthem should be our moment to stand together as one UNITED States of America.”
