The Carson City Sheriff's Office has two men behind bars who allegedly robbed a 100-year-old veteran at his home over Memorial Day weekend. According to Sheriff Ken Furlong, 27-year-old Robert Michael Hernandez or Carson City and 25-year-old Jordan Randall Burkhart, of Wellington, were arrested Wednesday. Sheriff Furlong says around 5 a.m. Sunday morning, deputies responded to a report of a home invasion and robbery at a home on Canvasback Drive. Nevada has become the latest state to announce it will concede Obamacare exchange enrollment responsibilities to the federal government via healthcare.gov. Nevada became the third state-based exchange to make such a decision, joining Massachusetts, which is joining the federal exchange temporarily while it works to fix its state-based exchange, and Oregon, which has ditched its exchange entirely—making a total of 39 states dependent on the federal exchange for, at a minimum, enrollment in 2015.Federal taxpayers already have sent about $4.9 billion total in grants to the states to establish exchanges, with almost $4.2 billion going to just the 16 states...

A 73-year-old man has been charged with murder in a recent shooting that killed a man and wounded a woman who had done meth and entered his vacant duplex without permission in suburban Reno. The defendant, Wayne Burgarello, acknowledged the Feb. 13 shooting at a property he owns in Sparks but says he was acting in self-defense under Nevada's "stand your ground" law, according to court records.

Senate Democrats are refusing to let supporters of the Keystone XL oil pipeline to use an energy efficiency bill as a vehicle to attempt winning congressional approval for the controversial project. Majority Leader Harry Reid used a parliamentary move Wednesday to block a Republican amendment on the pipeline as well as a measure to prevent the Environmental Protection Agency from imposing new greenhouse gas regulations on coal-burning power plants.

Family members and other supporters took a Nevada rancher's grazing rights fight against the U.S. government to the sheriff in Las Vegas on Friday, filing reports alleging crimes by federal agents against people protesting a roundup of cattle from public land. Rancher Cliven Bundy wasn't among those who filed handwritten complaints with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department - the agency with jurisdiction over Bundy's ranch in the Bunkerville area and much of Clark County.
