By Andrew W. Griffin Red Dirt Report, editor Posted: October 6, 2009 reddirtreporter@gmail.com REVIEW – Larry The Cable Guy – Tailgate Party (WBR Nashville) 2009 When it comes to gittin’-r-done, country comedian Larry The Cable Guy (Dan Whitney) is usually on the mark. His 2005 comedy recording, The Right To Bare Arms, was a hit and the off-color jokes, redneck observations and timing – believe it or not – were, well, funny. This time, on the just-released live comedy recording Tailgate Party, on the WBR Nashville label, Larry does his routine before 50,000 fans at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, Nebraska.,...

National Review senior editor Jay Nordlinger opines on the increasing injection of partisan politics into sports writing: Sarah Palin comes in for a lot of abuse from sportswriters, as you might expect. Here is an item from Sports Illustrated’s website —the subject is baseball (really): “Imagine for a minute that you had free reign [sic] to add any three players to your team for the second half, while punishing a heated [hated?] rival by tagging them with three more of your choice. That’s basically the essence of this week’s revised format: three players who will heat up post-All-Star break and...

Carl Orff Orff was born in Munich on July 10, 1895. His family was Bavarian and active in the German military. Orff started studying the piano at age five and also took organ and cello lessons. By the time he was a teenager, Orff was writing songs, although he had not studied harmony or composition. His mother helped him set down his first works in musical notation. Orff wrote his own texts and he learned the art of composing, without a teacher, by studying classical masterworks on his own. In 1911-12, Orff wrote a large work for baritone voice,...

Michael Moore's purposefully controversial and politically polarizing documentary Capitalism: A Love Story was distributed by Overture Films and wound up in 7th place. It went wide into 962 theaters this weekend after opening on September 23rd in a limited release of 4 theaters. The pic about the financial crisis made $1.6M Friday and $2M Saturday (+33%) for a $5M weekend and $5.4M cume. Just for comparison purposes: Moore's most recent Sicko did $4.4 mil its opening weekend from only 441 theaters (and that was with him guesting on The Tonight Show and announcing he'd been subpoenaed by the Bush administration...

If you want to write for Hollywood, study this picture. This faded lobby card from Charles Chaplin’s The Kid is the best lesson you’ll ever have in how to write for the movies. Despite its age, it illustrates many of the essential elements you’ll need to keep in mind today as your write your Hollywood screenplay. It’s a visual reminder of the kind of movie that producers, studios and – most importantly – audiences are looking for.

Hollywood has the best moral compass, because it has compassion. We were the people who did the fundraising telethon for the victims of 9/11. We were there for the victims of Katrina and any world catastrophe. – Harvey Weinstein This blog already opined on the Polanski issue over a year ago, yet Hollywood's ability to support the wrong ideas is constant amusement. Rather than admit that they are not Harvey Weinstein's moral compass for the nation, they would rather defend a child rapist (as if giving wine and half a Quaalude to a 13 year old weren't bad enough). The...

Apparently someone tried to blackmail David Letterman by threatening to out several affairs he has had with female staffers on his show. Now, for the record I don’t support anyone trying to blackmail Letterman or anyone else. It’s creepy and wrong. The guy has a six year old and I feel very sorry for that kid who is about to have a rough couple years. I hope the guy who did this goes to jail for a decent stretch. That said, it also occurs to me that this is more than a bit…ironic. Letterman has made a career out of...

Anybody understand YouTube problems?? I just posted a 9/12 video and last night it now takes like 45 seconds or more before it plays and I don't know why! Just long enough for someone to click and say "forget it!" I asked YouTube why and have not gotten a response. Don't know if I did something or not but it's frustrating! Any help is appreciated. Not a lot of experience with YouTube and I hate to reload the video after sending everyone links! Blast!! Thanks! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gyq6evgFupM

Ya gotta hand it to the Left. After 40 years of all-sex-is-rape, all-men-suck feminism, we now know when drugging a 13-year-old girl and sodomizing her in a hot tub against her will is A-OK: When the rapist is a Hollywood bigwig. Which leads John at Verum Serum to ask a provacative question: What if Roman Polanski had drugged and sodomized Khalid Sheikh Mohammed? The far left seems to have a lot more sympathy for the convicted rapist than it does for the actual victim. This is the same crowd that believed Bush should be prosecuted for war crimes and members of...

Rapper and actor Loon has joined the growing list of rappers that have converted to Islam. Some of the others who have made the same choice are Busta Rhymes, and Mos Def. Loon had converted on a recent Dubai tour, and changed his name to Amir Junaid Muhadith. It would of been nice if he actually did his own research, instead of blindly accepting the Islam means peace con.

By Andrew W. Griffin Red Dirt Report, editor Posted: September 29, 2009 reddirtreporter@gmail.com OKLAHOMA CITY -- Although not available online, blogs, including AmericaWantsToKnow.com, report that the grocery store tabloid The Globe has revealed that 25 celebrities and well-known personalities, including Oklahoma's very own country music superstar Toby Keith, are on a so-called "enemies list," allegedly compiled by President Barack Obama. While some may scoff at such a report, since it was featured in The Globe, this particular tabloid has broken some big stories, like the John Edwards affair. The "insider" talking to The Globe says that Obama is concerned about...

Lots of liberals support the US going after Roman Polanski, but I must ask, what's the big deal? It's only about sex, right? It's nobody's business, right? It's between him & the girl (who forgave him), so drop the charges, right? Personally, I think Roman's problem was having sex with a girl. If he was smart, he would have had sex with a young boy instead. That way, every liberal and gay rights supporter in America would be celebrating his actions and defending him until the bitter end. And before any of you libs gasp and act all offended, I suggest you...

Clark Hoyt, the NY Times Public Editor, covers its lack of reporting of the O’Keefe/Giles Acorn exposé and blames it on being “slow off the mark.” Hoyt was kept on for a year after his two year term expired earlier this year, no doubt by endearing himself to editorial management with soft criticism. He didn't fail them today. I wrote about Hoyt last year and called him a joke. In the column I pointed out the new bias of the Times is that of burying stories that don’t support the Democrat’s game plan. Read it, it covers some points others...

Muscle Shoals, Alabama- The Vitamin Press has just learned that three former presidential hopefuls -John Sinister McCain, Mittens “Mad Cow Romney” and Mike Huckabee- have placed their former ambitions behind them and united together for the greater purpose of healing the world with the psychedelic burn of their sweet sweet rock and roll music. This experiment in harmonic synergistic fusion, the power of believing in the beauty of your dreams and the unstoppable uniting force of their positive rock melodies has coalesced around these three musical troubadours and forged a sum that greatly exceeds the size of their parts. Alone...

"The ground has shifted. The world has changed!" Oooo yes yes yes yes YES WE CAN! What's going on? Did the Teacher's Union hold a contest for best Obama song? Here's another one-- A new Obama song by 3rd graders was recently released on the internet. From MisterBee2009: From the video: We began to write the song after watching the Inauguration. Our school day is packed bell to bell with academics, but were usually able to spend the last five minutes of singing songs as short ELD (English Language Development) activities. Day by day we used this tiny window of...

Heeee’s baaaaaaack! Just as he deceitfully misrepresented the Second Amendment and gun ownership in Bowling for Columbine; deceitfully misrepresented the Bush administration, the troops risking their lives in Iraq, and the United States overall in Fahrenheit 9/11; and deceitfully misrepresented the health care systems in the U.S., Cuba, and other countries in Sicko, the left’s favorite “documentarian” Michael Moore is about to deceitfully represent capitalism and socialism in the film Capitalism: A Love Story. ... Undoubtedly and unsurprisingly, Capitalism: A Love Story is going to make Michael Moore significantly wealthier than he is even now. But even more sadly is...

I know it is a bit different to talk about talk show bumper music, but what are your top 3 bumper music tracks used on the Boortz show and Limbaugh's show? Personally, I think Boortz has slightly better music than Limbaugh, though Limbaugh does pretty good, too. My favorites for Boortz are his main theme (Heart of Rock and Roll), Good Thing, and Cantaloop. There's also this one song played on Boortz yesterday going into the first half hour break that I don't know the title of- there were no vocals, but it sounded like something from the 80s with...

Perez Hilton has proved that demonstrable talent or skill is no longer a prerequisite for fame. These days, all that’s needed is a proclivity for peddling the sleaziest material imaginable Hilton created a career for himself out of enhancing paparazzi shots of celebrities with crude white drawings of genitalia and bodily fluids and posting them on his blog, PerezHilton.com. He regularly described young actresses in the most misogynic terms imaginable, relentlessly attempted to bring gay celebrities out of the closet and reserved a special brand of hate for conservative women, such as referring to “The View’s” Elisabeth Hasselbeck as “Elisab----”...

The 61st annual Primetime Emmy Awards were dominated by Mad Men, 30 Rock and a whole host of classically coiffured stars, creatively couturing themselves in glamorous gowns and edgy ensembles. I suppose it's only fair. Judging by the Times' plunging stock value and rapidly shrinking readership, fans of conservative talk radio are not fans of the paper. But this is a little over-the-top, even for this discredited fishwrap. Call It Ludacris: The Kinship Between Talk Radio and Rap "Hour after hour, rant after rant, it is a feast of words and feverish emotion, interrupted only by regular commercials and the occasional call from the awe-struck fan. I’d heard these voices before, but only in sound bites. When you don’t own a car and don’t tune in at home, you probably...

www.CitizenSoldierHandbook.com In this article, "China Could Undermine U.S.Military Power in the Pacific: Gates", you can see that the Socialist left-wing dictatorship of China is moving to assert its power on numerous levels in the Pacfiic region which will conflict with the United States. China is a left-wing socialist dictatorship which doesn't allow Free Speech, Free Press, property rights, Freedom of Religion, etc., When local elections are held in the outlying areas in a 'democracy experiment', communist party cadre are invariably voted out. Kanye West — you know, the moron who suffered a Bush Derangement Syndrome attack in the middle of a Hurricane Katrina national telethon — made a fool of himself again tonight. Aggrieved that country singer Taylor Swift beat out pop diva Beyonce for an MTV Video Music Award, he pounced on stage, ripped the microphone out of Swift’s hands and had a hissy fit on Beyonce’s behalf. I’m sure he considers himself on par with Rosa Parks now:
