A year ago, I wrote a two-part series titled "My Mom's Advice for America." Those columns became two of my most read pieces. With both my mother's 93rd birthday (May 4) and Mother's Day (May 11) on the horizon, I decided to write a two-part series this year on her mother's advice for America. Grandmother Scarberry, whom I affectionately always called "Granny" until the day she died, was an inspirational matriarch in the family, especially in my life. Outside of God and my wife, Gena, my mom and Granny were the two bedrocks and influences in my life. There are...

Shannon Watts, the outspoken gun control advocate who heads Moms Demand Action, has repeatedly lied about Dana Loesch, saying Dana is on the payroll of the NRA and is being paid by gun manufacturer Magpul. This weekend Dana confronted Shannon Watts at the NRA Convention in Indianapolis. Watch Shannon run from Dana. Via The Blaze: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2fMVq9hMtE4

If you’re a mom of grown children, this is for you.Did you know that the Obama administration and the state of Rhode Island are counting on you to nag your kids into signing up for Obamacare?Good old-fashioned guilt and annoyance—that’s the ticket, apparently. But just giving your kids a call or sending them an email isn’t enough.Rhode Island’s newest strategy is urging mothers to sign up for social networking and even online dating sites to send messages to their children. The state’s Obamacare exchange has put together the “Nag Toolkit.” The website isn’t subtle. It says, “learn how to be where...

Forget about the 1 percent versus the 99 percent. It’s really more like the 0.000001 percent versus everybody else. A tiny group — mostly comprising the Obama White House, a bunch of Washington Democrats, progressive economists, and the media elite — continues to fixate on income inequality as America’s greatest challenge. Most everybody else, the 99.999999 percent, sees things differently. Surveys continue to show Americans most worried about jobs and economic growth, not the income gap between the top and bottom. It’s a rational view given new employment data from the government. The January jobs report showed only 113,000 net...

While Democrats are effusing over the Mom-in-Chief, it’s worth noting that a California branch of the National Organization for Women (NOW) is currently petitioning Party Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz to stop discrimination against moms with young kids and infants. “Moms with young children and nursing babies need your help!” They say. According to the petition, “the Democratic Party is refusing to allow moms who are elected delegates onto the floor of the Convention if they must bring breastfeeding babies or small children in tow. There are no accommodations for on-site childcare, leaving women with very few options.” READ MORE: http://www.thenation.com/blog/169744/moms-discriminated-against-dnc

The degree of difficulty of being a stay-at-home parent is evident in a new Gallup analysis of more than 60,000 U.S. women interviewed in 2012. Non-employed women with young children at home are more likely than women with young children at home who are employed for pay to report experiencing sadness and anger a lot of the day "yesterday." Stay-at-home moms are also much more likely to report having ever been diagnosed with depression than employed moms. Employed moms are about as emotionally well-off as working women who do not have children at home.

Ad Praising Moms of Olympians Moves the Web It's a special event that brings together people from all over the world. And now it has inspired a commercial that praises moms of Olympic athletes -- and it has gone viral on the Web. The spot from Procter & Gamble has already been viewed on YouTube more than 700,000 times, receiving thousands of comments. (Full disclosure: P&G is a sponsor of Yahoo! Olympics coverage.) "Best Job," which was created for the London 2012 Olympic Games, honors the mothers of the extraordinary athletes who will compete in this summer's games. The ad...

“….has actually never worked a day in her life. She’s never really dealt with the kinds of economic issues that a majority of women in this country are facing.” – Hilary Rosen, democratic operative, referring to Ann RomneyHilary Rosen’s indictment of Ann Romney was quickly – and rightfully so – disavowed by the left, and condemned by the right. However, when we look past the outrage and at Rosen’s words, she is quite correct: A quick scan of her and Mitt’s Wikipedia biographies show that they were both born to affluent households. (I should add, much like most of the...

So Ann Romney doesn't have any real life experiences? Doesn't know a thing about difficulty? Or pain? …that her gilded life has shielded her from the day-to-day concerns of average folks? Now, you would think after Hilary Rosen spouted that nonsense, we would be done debating this nonsense. But you'd be wrong. Here to pick up the shovel and happily dig an even deeper clueless pit…no less than the president of NOW, the National Organization of Women...Terry O'Neill. …happily chiming in that neither Ann Romney nor her husband, for that matter, have the, and I quote here, "Kind of life...

Sometimes it’s hard to figure out what a public figure means when what they say doesn’t match the facts in any way shape or form. In this post I will take a few recent public statements, provide a translation, as well as what they were hoping you’d think. Please note, our translations may not be 100% accurate, but we strive very hard to read the minds of various public figures. Enjoy! The Statement: “The House budget once again fails the test of balance, fairness, and shared responsibility.” – President Obama What He Meant: It’s not my budget What He Hoped...

Ok, why should I care? I was notified a while back that I would be in the top 25 Circle of Moms Political Mommy Blogger race, where we are supposed to get people to vote for us to win...nothing. Big deal, right? However, my first inclination was to try to gather those whom I thought would vote for me and ask them to keep voting, (you can vote once a day,) until the competition ends at 4pm PT, 7pm ET on April 4th. So, like most things in my life I forgot about it, until a couple of days ago,...

In honor of Tom Brady [stats]’s 33rd birthday today, we give you more bon mots from his bride, supermodel/supermommy Gisele Bundchen who doesn’t have, unlike her Patriots [team stats] QB/QT hubby, a Belichickian filter. This week’s dispatch from Planet Gi is that she proposes a “worldwide law” that new mothers “breastfeed their babies for six months.”

If Momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy. And if you've been to a tea party, you know Momma ain't happy at all. Forget "angry white men." In the male-dominated world of conservative politics, the tea party stands out as a movement of energized and organized women. In particular, moms. Moms like Sarah Palin, of course, who's been described as the "Momma Bear" of the tea party movement. But more important are the thousands of women at the state and local level who created this political phenomenon. Moms like Christen Varley, the suburban mother of four who organized the successful tea...

On Friday September 25, 2009 Glenn Beck had a special entitled “The Mother’s Challenge: A 9.12 Project.” During the final thoughts section Dr. Frank I. Luntz said, “If you begin everything with ‘as a mom…‘ You win.” That thought, and a brilliant comment by Nancy, during a discussion of the feeling of being alone, referring to her friends calling themselves “Sisterhood of the mommy patriots,” were the inspirations for starting this site. The purpose of this group is to give a forum for moms of all types to come together to discuss and resolve issues. Through the centuries women a...
