Democratic presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren yesterday tweeted: @ewarren 5 years ago Michael Brown was murdered by a white police officer in Ferguson, Missouri. Michael was unarmed yet he was shot 6 times. I stand with activists and organizers who continue the fight for justice for Michael. We must confront systemic racism and police violence head on. 36.2K 2:59 PM - Aug 9, 2019 This is an outright lie, one day after Warren complained of the dangers of rhetoric. Michael Brown was not murdered. Michael Brown was shot by officer Darren Wilson in an act of self-defense. This is why the...

Investigative reporter Sharyl Attkisson fired back at Democratic Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren over a tweet memorializing the 2009 death of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri. Brown’s death on August 9, 2009, at the hands of Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson, sparked nationwide protests as the public seized on later-debunked claims that Brown had thrown up his hands in surrender prior to Wilson shooting him.

Remember the signature event in Ferguson, Missouri, that started the recent war on cops? You know, where the lie of 'hands up don't shoot' was spawned? Remember when the Congressional Black Caucus embarrassingly stood on the House floor with their hands raised? I remember when they smeared the character, reputation, and sacrifice of the fine men and women who put on a uniform and risk greatly to protect and serve. They weren't alone. Even President Obama had added fuel to the fire claiming that our police officers have a problem with people who don't look like them. At that time,...

Jeni Box was 13 weeks pregnant when she got what she called “the most devastating news of our lives.” It was February 2018. Box, a Kansas City native living near St. Louis, knew that her husband, Jake, would be shaken to hear her crying over the phone. “I’m OK,” Box, then 36, told him, trying to settle her nerves when he answered, “but we got really bad news about the baby. I need you to leave work.” The Box family already included two boys, Kellen and Everett, ages 1 and 3. Soon her husband was by her side. She broke...

At 1%, Muslims are still a small percentage of the population. But there’s one place in America where they are vastly over-represented. State prisons. Take Maryland, which has an estimated 70,000 Muslims, making up over 1% of the population. But of Maryland's 18,562 prisoners, 5,084 were Muslims. That's 27.4% or over 1 in 4 prisoners. It would also mean that 1 out of 13 Muslims in Maryland may have been in a state prison. Those are startling numbers, yet they come from Muslim Advocates, an Islamist legal advocacy group. Both MA’s numbers and the number of Muslims in different states...

Planned Parenthood joined the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) this week in filing a lawsuit against Missouri over the state’s law that bans abortion past the eighth week of pregnancy. “Planned Parenthood will not cower to politicians who are trying to dismantle our access to safe, legal abortion — not in Missouri, and not anywhere else,” said Alexis McGill Johnson, acting president of Planned Parenthood. Johnson recently assumed her position after the organization’s sudden ouster of Dr. Leana Wen, its first physician president in decades. She referred to the abortion bans that have been passed in 12 states this year...

The Satanic Temple is appealing a lawsuit against the State of Missouri on behalf of a woman who says her rights were violated when she was forced to wait 72 hours for an abortion and was required to read religious material that asserts life begins at conception. It claims the material provided is designed to produce shame over her decision and is contrary to science. According to the organization, the appeal is based on a 1989 decision handed down by the U.S. Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals "which explicitly states that the life of each human being begins at conception...

Last week, mostly lost in the news cycle of Trump versus “the squad” and the anticipation of the Mueller hearings, was the testimony of Dr. Robert Epstein in front of the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution regarding the power of Google to manipulate elections. Epstein, a Harvard Ph.D. in psychology and behavioral sciences, is a Democrat who voted for Clinton in 2016. Yet what he testified to should be troubling to every American who is concerned about election integrity and the threats of manipulation by powers both foreign and domestic. Epstein testified, based on 13,000 saved search results of...

‘Louder and more hateful’: Big-city leaders say Trump’s attacks on Baltimore are escalation of his strategy to denigrate diverse, liberal areas President Trump’s denunciations of Baltimore as an uninhabitable city are the latest in a string of disparaging attacks on diverse, liberal enclaves as violent, dirty and outside the mainstream — rhetoric that paints those areas of the country as fundamentally less American than whiter, more conservative strongholds. Trump denigrated Maryland’s largest city over the weekend as “a disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess” and blamed it on Rep. Elijah E. Cummings (D-Md.), who is black, and claimed on Sunday...

In an age when Roe v. Wade is under attack and sweeping, severe anti-abortion laws and bills are being passed in Alabama, Georgia, and Missouri, it’s interesting to look back on the pro-choice subplot of Fast Times at Ridgemont High, which caused little stir in 1982. Sitting at Yahoo Entertainment with David Crosby to promote his latest film project, the documentary David Crosby: Remember My Name, Cameron Crowe — whose book about his experience as an undercover reporter at a Southern California high school inspired the classic teen comedy — acknowledges that those scenes would be received very differently today....

The University of Missouri has faced a tough few years. First, there were well-publicized protests stemming from student allegations that the administration responded inadequately to racial bias on campus. At one particularly charged demonstration, a (since fired) journalism professor called for “muscle” to prevent a student journalist from taking video of the protesters. This was followed by declining enrollment, budgetary shortfalls, the temporary shuttering of dorms, and staff layoffs from which the school has only started to recover. But Mizzou’s latest challenge comes in the form of a multimillion-dollar lawsuit filed by Hillsdale College, a conservative institution in rural Michigan....

Planned Parenthood abortion business CEO Leanna Wen has been fired after just 10 months on the job. The abortion corporation wants a more aggressively pro-abortion activist as its leader as it heads into the crucial 2020 presidential election. According to the New York Times, the Planned Parenthood board engaged in “hours of negotiations”and ultimately canned Wen, citing the need for a “more aggressive political leader.” Alexis McGill Johnson has been named as interim president of its political arm Planned Parenthood Action Fund. “I am proud to step in to serve as acting president and facilitate a smooth leadership transition in...

Lawmakers are returning to Congress on Monday following a racist series of tweets from President Donald Trump aimed at four Democratic lawmakers, and Republican leaders as well as rank-and-file members are feeling the pressure to weigh in on the President's comments. But many leaders in the party are so far not weighing in publicly -- including Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. "If he issues a statement on this we'll be sure to forward," said McConnell spokesman David Popp in response to a question from CNN. While many Republican leaders in Congress have thus far not spoken out, some GOP members...

A woman fired her gun outside the Parkville License Office in Kansas City, Missouri, reportedly because she was tired of waiting. The woman, estimated to be in her 40s, entered the building and started cursing when she saw the long line and insisted on being next in line. The unidentified female asked DMV workers to call their supervisor, who was not on the premises at the time. Zick says she followed the woman outside to get her license plate number. The woman then pulled out a gun and fired into the air. The woman then allegedly fired twice into a...
