Cassie Barker turned herself into Hancock County Sheriff’s Office at about 3 p.m. She was accompanied by attorney Donald Rafferty. A man has been arrested in the stabbing deaths of two nuns whose bodies were found in their home in rural Mississippi, authorities said. Margaret Held and Paula Merrill, both nurse practitioners, failed to show up for work Thursday at a clinic in Lexington, where they served one of the state’s poorest counties. Authorities believe the killer took the victims’ car, a blue Toyota Corolla, which was later found on an abandoned road less than a mile from their home. Two Catholic nuns were found dead inside their Mississippi home after they didn’t show up to work Thursday, according to police. Both women had stab wounds, the Durant police chief told WJTV. The nuns have been identified as Sister Paula Merrill and Sister Margaret Held. The University of Mississippi’s marching band will no longer play any variation of the song “Dixie” – a tradition some seven decades old at football games and other sporting events.
