Relatives of a teenager shot and killed while robbing a home in Miami are upset with the homeowner for defending herself. Trevon Johnson, 17, spent the final moments of his life last Thursday trying to rob a woman’s house before she killed him during a confrontation, according to CBS Miami.

Relatives of a 17-year-old are angry the teenager was shot and killed by a homeowner who police say was protecting her property. The sister of the teen who died identified him as Trevon Johnson. She said he was a student at D.A. Dorsey Technical College. “I don’t care if she have her gun license or any of that. That is way beyond the law… way beyond,” said Johnson’s cousin Nautika Harris. “He was not supposed to die like this. He had a future ahead of him. Trevon had goals… he was a funny guy, very big on education, loved learning.”...

MIAMI BEACH (CBSMiami) — Ocean Drive looked like a scene out of a CSI: Miami episode early Sunday as crime tape and evidence markers stretched from 9th Street to 10th. Witnesses said it started as a fist fight in the middle of Ocean Drive and escalated into a shooting. Antoinne Decade, 20, was shot once in the chest and died in the hospital, investigators announced.

Former Florida governor Jeb Bush plans to meet with three of the four remaining Republican presidential candidates today and tomorrow in Miami, according to an aide. Bush, who until recently was also a presidential contender, plans to meet with Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and Ohio Gov. John Kasich, a spokeswoman said. The incident happened at a home off of 18th Avenue and Northwest 122 Street, where the dog's owner lives with her son. She said she walked outside to see if the garbage had been picked up when suddenly she saw officers arrive in an unmarked police car. Miami's police union voted to boycott Beyonce's April concert in the city on the grounds that Beyonce used used the Super Bowl to spread an "anti-police message" that "shows how she does not support law enforcement", the organization said. The Miami Fraternal Order of Police announced on Wednesday that the organization would be boycotting the singer's April 26 show at Marlin Stadium. An American Airlines flight from Miami to Milan has been diverted to Canada, with reports of injuries on board. Flight AA206 has been cleared to land at St John's International Airport in Newfoundland. There are paramedics on the ground waiting for the plane's arrival. Canadian newspaper The Telegram reports there are five ambulances at the airport, and "there are people with serious injuries on board". This is a developing story. Workers from nine U.S. airports are planning to block bridges, march through terminals and protest at airline headquarters during a day of civil disobedience on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The family of the armed man, who they identified as 56-year old Richard Fernandez, said the officers ordered him to drop the machete, but he refused. “Instead, he lunged toward the officer with the machete,” said Perez. “The officer discharged her firearm and struck the subject that was holding the machete.” Fernandez was taken to Kendall Regional Trauma Center where he’s listed in critical condition. His sister told CBS4 her brother was shot twice in the head area and she didn’t think he was going to make it.
