Michigan Republican Party Chairman, Ronna Romney McDaniel, issued the following statement regarding a potential recount in Michigan: "On November 8th, Michigan voters went to the polls, cast their ballots, and Donald Trump won Michigan. Despite no evidence of election tampering or hacking, and being 2.2 million votes behind Donald Trump, Green Party candidate Jill Stein appears to be going forward with a challenge to the Michigan election results. The Michigan Republican Party has been in touch with the Republican National Committee and the Trump campaign, and we are prepared to recruit volunteers, train them, and monitor all recount efforts to...

Hillary Clinton’s campaign lawyer announced plans to participate in vote recounts of Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Michigan if they take place, yet doesn’t expect to overturn the election of Donald Trump as president. […] The Democrat’s campaign didn’t plan to initiate recounts on its own because it hasn’t found “any actionable evidence of hacking or outside attempts to alter the voting technology,” Elias wrote. […] “We do so fully aware that the number of votes separating Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton in the closest of these states — Michigan — well exceeds the largest margin ever overcome in a recount,“ Elias...

Former Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein has raised nearly $5 million to fund efforts to push for a recount in Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. This has led to speculation over what Stein hopes to gain from a potential recount or if she is being used by billionaire investor George Soros or Bill and Hillary Clinton. 'Stacy on the Right' Show Host Stacy Washington weighed in on the potential factors driving the push for a recount.

Officials in the Obama administration threw cold water on the effort to recount votes in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania on Friday. The effort was spearheaded by Green Party candidate Jill Stein, who echoed arguments that Russia may have hacked US voting machines to interfere with the outcome of the November 8 election. A statement from the Obama administration cited by The New York Times acknowledged that the Kremlin likely expected the hacking of some Democratic Party entities in the run-up to Election Day to raise questions about the voting process and the legitimacy of President-elect Donald Trump's victory. "Nevertheless, we...

Close Vote Margin: Vote count difference (not percentage-based) Recounts initiated by a close vote margin are mandatory if the close vote margin is triggered, but only at the statewide level. This requirement applies to both initiatives and candidates in any primary or election, except for partisan offices in which more than one person is elected. Mich. Comp. Laws 168.880(a)(1). Additional exceptions are noted in the Bureau of Elections “Election Recounts” manual (see page 5): The margin is set at 2,000 votes or less, regardless of the number of votes cast in the election, and when that margin applies, neither candidates...

Computer scientists and election lawyers are asking the Hillary Clinton campaign to recount election votes in three states, including Pennsylvania, New York Magazine reported last night. [snip] On top of that, Democratic election law attorney Adam Bonin said that those who are asking for a vote recount just might not be paying enough attention. Election Day returns are unofficial counts. The actual counting of votes started three days after the election, and it’s “a rigorous and public process,” Bonin said, which people can observe with their own eyes at their county’s Board of Elections. “Every machine tape is looked at,...

The campaign for Green Party candidate Jill Stein surpassed its goal late Thursday night to raise $4.5 million in an attempt to have recounts in three battleground states -- Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania -- to address concerns about the election before it is certified. But once the $4.5 million goal was reached, the campaign upped the goal to $7 million. Stein and her running mate, Ajamu Baraka, initially said they hoped to raise over $2.5 million -- the money needed to fund recounts in the three states -- by Friday, the deadline to file in Wisconsin. By Thursday morning, that...

Donald Trump is poised to win the state of Michigan after a razor-thin race, according to still-unofficial numbers released by the Michigan secretary of State Wednesday. Each of Michigan’s 83 counties certified their vote tallies and submitted them to the secretary of State, showing Trump with a lead of about 10,700 total votes over Hillary Clinton, Reuters reported. The vote totals, which still need to be approved by the Board of State Canvassers on Nov. 28, show Trump received 2,279,543 votes to Clinton’s 2,268,839.

Green Party candidate Jill Stein has announced her intention to request a recount in three swing states: Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin. These are the same states Hillary Clinton was urged to request recounts in by a computer scientist who suggested voting machines in those states may have been hacked by Russia. Stein doesn’t mention Clinton but does say the votes should be recounted because of concerns about foreign government hacking and unreliable voting machines. Stein’s full announcement was posted on her campaign website. It reads in part: The Stein/Baraka Green Party Campaign is launching an effort to ensure the integrity...

Whites voted for Donald Trump, so apparently they aren’t allowed to protest him in anything other than servile roles. The Michigan Review notes that a logistics sheet for Wednesday’s 1,000-student walkout at the University of Michigan – to protest the election and “increase in hate crimes and other forms of violence against marginalized folx” – prescribed specific roles for whites in attendance.
