Bigger burgers will be back on the menu at McDonald’s, at least for a while. McDonald’s says it’s introducing a trio of “Sirloin Third Pound” burgers for a limited time starting later this month, the latest sign the chain is pushing to improve perceptions about the quality of its food. The sirloin burgers would have the biggest beef patties on the chain’s menu and come after McDonald’s dropped its Angus Third Pounders in 2013. The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) has a beef with fast-food chains, particularly when they’re doing business with public hospitals. The D.C.-based non-profit recently surveyed more than 200 hospitals around the U.S. and found that 40 of them—around 20 percent—housed a fast-food restaurant. Chick-fil-A leads the charge with 20 hospital locations, followed by McDonald’s (18) and Wendy’s (5); donut and coffee spot Tim Horton’s also makes an appearance. McDonald’s announced that over 90,000 employees will receive a pay raise effective July 1, 2015. After recent employee protests and slow sales, McDonald’s appears to be raising salaries to solve employee relation problems and improve it’s image with consumers.

The federal government has said in a major, closely watched lawsuit that McDonald's Corp. violated workers' union rights at its individual franchise restaurants. What officials haven't said is exactly how the corporation did this since it didn't actually employ the workers, the franchise owners did. Fast-food giant McDonald’s has avoided paying €1 billion in tax across the EU, and should be included in the EU’s probe on “sweetheart” tax deals, according to a report published Wednesday (25 February).
