The Margate Shell Grotto is one of Kent, England's greatest cultural treasures. Some 4.6 million seashells line the walls of the subterranean passageway in ornate mosaics—but just as interesting as the craftsmanship on display is the mystery behind it. The grotto was discovered accidentally in the 19th century, and to this day no one knows who built it ... or why. According to most accounts, farmer James Newlove and his son Joshua were digging a duck pond in 1835 when they struck upon the underground cavern. A closer look revealed that they weren't the first people to enter the space,...

A man in his mid-20s who graduated from Atlantic City High School is believed to be the first American member of the Islamic State terror group to be filmed beheading a prisoner, according to a report in The Atlantic magazine published Saturday. Zulfi Hoxha, whose family immigrated to the United States from Albania and formerly owned a pizzeria in Margate, is believed to have connected with another man, David Wright, through online video games possibly as early as 2010, the magazine reported. Wright put Hoxha in touch with others who then helped Hoxha travel to a part of Syria controlled...

This was diving me NUTS!!! An MSNBC report just came on which reported on some nitroglycerene being found in a home in Margate, FL. I live not far from Margate and don't expect everyone to be familiar with it. However, the MSNBC reporter delivering the report referred to that town at least 5 times as "Mar-got." I mean, you don't have to know about Margate to read its name and pronounce it as "Margate." "Gate." How tough is that to say when you read it? Instead the MSNBC reporter kept calling it "Mar-got." Drove me NUTS! Oh, and she never...

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- The co-pilot who survived Comair Flight 5191 has lost a leg and must undergo surgery on a fractured spinal cord, his family said Monday in a statement. He still doesn't remember the events of the Aug. 27 crash that killed 49 people. Doctors have amputated the left leg of James Polehinke, 44, of Margate, the lone survivor of the Aug. 27 crash at Blue Grass Airport. He also has undergone surgery to repair complicated fractures on his right left and foot, and faces several orthopedic surgeries, one involving a spinal fracture, the family said.
