President Barack Obama’s Department of Justice has dropped charges against a man who sold weapons which he claimed were supposed to arm the rebels in Libya during Hillary Clinton’s aggressive intervention in that volatile Middle Eastern country. Arms dealer Marc Turi’s lawyers signed the deal to avoid an illegal arms dealing trial, which could have further blown the lid off the U.S. government’s alleged weapons-running operation. Many of the weapons, experts say, were diverted to jihadist insurgents in the Middle East during the so-called “Arab Spring” uprisings.

Add another drop of tragedy to the story of America’s reluctant, no-boots-on-the-ground operation in Libya in 2011: Weapons that were never secured after Muammar Gaddafi’s ouster made their way to Boko Haram, the Islamist terrorist organization now holding hundreds of Nigerian girls. Some things we read about in the news simply defy logic. What has happened in Libya, from our intervention, through Benghazi, and currently, certainly fits that description. The U.S. Special Forces have been stationed in Libya to train their military. Naturally, they brought their own weapons. Unfortunately, some of those weapons have been stolen by groups that are likely in bed with terrorists. Several senior administration officials tell CNN UN Ambassador Susan Rice's use of the word "spontaneous" on Sunday talk shows five days after the Libya incident came directly from an assessment provided to the House intelligence community by the CIA, which was not edited by the White House.
