NewsBusters.org - Media Research CenterOn Wednesday’s CBS "Early Show," co-host Harry Smith discussed the ‘Potomac Primaries’ with Democratic Strategist Dee Dee Myers and Republican CBS Political Analyst Nicolle Wallace, a former Bush Administration Communications Director, who said of John McCain’s conservative critics: "The more that we see kind of the crazies like Ann Coulter out attacking John McCain, the better Republicans feel about their chances in the general election." This attack upon conservatives critical of McCain, who include Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, Laura Ingraham, and others, was prompted by Harry Smith asking about Mike Huckabee’s continued support in...

Anyone who has pictures of Sarah Palin, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Laura Ingraham, and other both principled and attractive conservative women, please post them all here. Who can post the most? NEW RULE: Whenever someone criticizes Sarah Palin for her supposed unfitness for the job -- or, in Peggy Noonan's words, her lack of a "philosophical grounding" -- they must follow up with an explanation of how Joe Biden is somehow better. Yesterday Biden said Obama's lack of experience gaurantees America will face a renewed threat from our enemies "within the first six months of our presidency." This, of course, is only the latest; he seems to be averaging about one gaffe/day. While Sarah Palin offered a less-than-brilliant response to Couric's question about her reading materials, at least she isn't batting...

Laura Ingraham has a new Windy City radio home after being bumped off Salem's WIND (560). That station is NextMedia's WKRS-AM (1220), which can be heard in Racine and Milwaukee, Wisconsin along with parts of Chicago. Along with Laura Ingraham (now in afternoons), it adds the syndicated Michael Reagan show, which will follow Ingraham from 7-9 pm, and Jim Bohannon from 9-12 am CT. Dave Ramsey will be heard from 1-4 pm, prior to Ingraham, and Bill O'Reilly adds an extra hour, moving from afternoons to 11 am-1 pm. A staffer tells Radio-Info the moves, which cost the jobs of...

How many times over the last few days have we heard politicians, talking heads and other self-proclaimed "experts" tell us the reason the $700 billion bailout is so wildly unpopular is that we just don't understand it. The economy is complicated. Just trust Congress, President Bush and his royal highness, Hank Paulson. They'll fix it. Don't worry about that $700 billion number. It only sounds high. Well. If that's the case - if we're really too dumb to understand what's happening - perhaps Congress can show us how much they know. To start, here are some questions I'd like answered....

He'll start Wednesday (October 1) on Greater Media's FM talker in Boston, WTKK at 96.9. The hours will be very late for the longtime morning man at WABC - 10pm-1am. Curtis says "WTKK is giving me a chance to do live and local radio in Boston, where I can continue to take it from the suites to the streets, and be raw and real." He'll follow author and journalist Michele McPhee (7-10pm), and lead into the syndicated Phil Hendrie from TRN. Greater Media may feel that Guardian Angels founder Sliwa already has some recognition in Boston due to the local...

THE CONSERVATIVE ELITES ATTACK! In today's New York Times, David Brooks launches a critique of Sarah Palin, essentially concluding that her populist appeal is dangerous and ill-conceived. He yearns for the day when "conservatism was once a frankly elitist movment," one that stressed "classical education, hard-earned knowledged, experience, and prudence." Brooks, like a handful of other conservative intellectuals, believes Palin "compensates for her lack of experience with brashness and excessive decisiveness." Well, at the risk of appearing brash, let me say that I am glad to see my old friend finally pushed to the point where he has to make...

Many listeners to Laura Ingraham's radio show were surprised on Monday when her syndicated show changed stations in many markets. This affected internet listeners, too, especially those who listen live. I found a station that streams her show live on the internet that FR talk radio fans might want to know about. KIXW-AM, located in the high desert outside of LA, has her show from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. PDT. So far it has dead time for commercials so you may want to listen a while before deciding the stream is not working. And you might want to send...

The Salem-owned stations have provided the major-market backbone for (Laura) Ingraham’s Talk Radio Network-syndicated show, but today appears to be their last day together. That’s what lies behind yesterday’s announcement that in southern California, Saul Levine’s L.A.-market KGIL/1260 and San Diego-market sister XESURF/540 will pick up Laura beginning next week. That’s because Laura’s off of Salem’s KRLA (870). I believe she’ll also be off the Salem conservative talk stations in places like Philadelphia (WNTP/990) and Chicago (WIND/560). Earlier this Summer, Laura was locked out (she says) by Talk Radio Network as they began to negotiate a renewal of her five-year...

A Los Angeles man is suing conservative Talker KRLA-AM/Los Angeles claiming the station, and parent Salem Communications, misrepresented their broadcast license by serving the interest of the Republican Party rather than the public reports the Glendale News Press. David Birke filed the complaint on August 27 against seven talk hosts, Salem and Salem President/CEO Ed Atsinger, claiming that they use the public airwaves to push a Republican agenda. Syndicated hosts Laura Ingraham, Dennis Prager, Michael Medved, Hugh Hewitt, Dennis Miller, Mike Gallagher and Kevin James are listed as defendants. According to the complaint, "Salem Entities and Atsinger had no intention...

The Obama camp must be in melt down. Perhaps fearing that the MSM has now slowed in its efforts to villify Sarah Palin and drive her out of the race, they have taken up the slurs and slams directly. Howard Guttman, an original member of the Obama national finance committee, went on Laura Ingraham Friday to again and again infer that Palin’s parenting skills and the choice to run for VP were suspect. It is stunning actually. A sample: Gutman said the issue wasn’t one of gender, but one of parenting -– regardless of the gender of the parent. “This...

Laura's E-Blast http://www.LauraIngraham.com July 9, 2008 MADRASSAS FOR AMERICANS: On today's show we were joined by Rep. Michael McCaul (R-TX) and producer Ericka Pertierra, who discussed the new documentary "Karachi Kids." The film tracks two brothers from Atlanta whose father, a Pakistani immigrant, shipped them off to a Pakistani madrassa and informed them their return was conditional upon memorizing the entire Koran. The boys, their father felt, had become too absorbed in American culture. In 2004, the filmmakers discovered that the boys were being held against their will at the Jamia Binoria Institute in Karachi, one of Pakistan's most radical...

"This is a Train Wreck"...Or so says Laura Ingraham, who hosted Just In at 5pmET on Fox News for just three weeks.Ingraham is the latest in the list of news anchors to get pre-show footage leaked to Harry Shearer's MyDamnChannel.com.The video shows Ingraham berating her staff ("You're talking too much" or "Don't hover at me"), declaring her show a "train wreck," and asking if what she saw as a problem was, "the Fox way of doing things?"Her rants even crack up guest Fred Thompson at one point.FNC insiders tell us Ingraham's off air behavior had nothing to do with the...

7/3 - DCRTV hears that Fox News has decided to end its 5 PM Laura Ingraham experiment after just three weeks. The DC-based right-leaning host has already returned to her national radio show and will continue to fill-in on Bill O'Reilly's TV show. Fox will return to "America's Election HQ" at 5 PM, with rotating hosts. DCRTV has reported that Citadel talker WMAL wants Ingraham for its late morning slot. She currently airs on talker WTNT, which was just bought by Redskins owner Dan Snyder.....

Friday, June 27, 2008 Posted By:Catherine MoyPermalinkTHANK YOU AMERICA!!!!! We’ve topped $1.1 Million for Our Troops!!!!! It is the day after our webathon and I am still numb from the stunning, selfless generosity of America. Our historic - and risky - webathon brought together the best in high-tech Ustream.tv, stars like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, Laura Ingraham, Gold Star parents and thousands upon thousands of Americans who REALLY support our troops. I want to apologize for failing to get a blog up as we went last night and yesterday. So many folks were participating on line that I...

Telethon Breaks Records, Troops to Receive Largest Care Package Delivery in History Written by Melanie Morgan Friday, 27 June 2008 The telethon exceeded my wildest expectations. I thought that if we were really lucky, really good, caught some major breaks -we might raise $400,000- tops. Instead, the final tally on the electronic tote board was $1,055,719. In reality, the total far exceeds the final number. The response was so overwhelming that our website could not keep up with the orders. When all is said and done, I am guessing that Move America Forward will have collected about 1.2...

The conservative talker writes on her website "We are apparently being allowed to return to the airwaves June 30. Keep your fingers crossed." Ingraham had previously posted on her website that her absence from radio "is not of my choosing, nor is it health or family related." Since being off radio for a large part of June, Ingraham found her way onto Fox News, anchoring their new 5pm ET news show. Last week, in an interview with the Washington Post's Howard Kurtz, she claimed "TRN 'barred her from her Washington studio after talks about a new contract hit a snag.'"...

Several weeks into a network- imposed lockout, radio talk show host Laura Ingraham still doesn't have a firm return date for her program. Meanwhile, her syndicator is clearly busy trying to contain the damage. Clearly worried about the potential loss of program affiliates, the Talk Radio Network has circulated an email to station managers that attempts to alleviate mounting concerns over her absence from the show. In addition, the memo, which your Radio Equalizer has obtained, discusses the possibility of full- time syndication for weekend host Monica Crowley: Greetings, TRN recently launched The Monica Crowley Show on the weekends, and...

The dog ate my transcript. That's roughly what Susan Rice's response to a pointed question from Laura Ingraham amounted to. Give credit to Rice, Obama senior foreign policy advisor, for appearing on Ingraham's "Just In" FNC show today and taking on the host in a freewheeling conversation. But she and her candidate are really going to have to learn to do better than the feeble dodge she offered. The subject was the recent phone conversation between Obama and Iraqi Foreign Minister, Hoshyar Zebari. ABC's Jake Tapper reports that after the call, Obama claimed that Zebari "did not express" any concern...

Just heard that from a group exec who’s been critical of her syndicator’s lockout of a star talent during the last weeks of the Spring rating period. (Laura’s been gone since June 2.) He emails me to say “the Laura Ingraham people called” – meaning TRN – “and they say she will be back on or before June 30.” I think that’s been their line for a couple of weeks now. Problem is, the Arbitron Spring survey period ends next Wednesday, June 25. The Washington Post’s Howard Kurtz supplies one detail that’s new: I thought Ingraham’s contract was up in...

Fighting Ingraham's Battle, Activists Waste Valuable Time At a time when conservatives face important political battles heading into November's election, one radio host would have the right waste valuable resources fighting for her lucrative syndication contract. After playing her hand much too aggressively while courting a rival broadcast outfit, Laura Ingraham has found herself locked out at the Talk Radio Network, which has handled her show since an abrupt exit from Westwood One nearly five years ago. While your Radio Equalizer certainly doesn't expect Ingraham to back down from her contention that she's done nothing wrong, attempting to drag the...

The Issue:MOnce again, liberal leaders are pushing the so-called “Fairness Doctrine” to silence conservative leaders like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Mark Levin. Their goal is clear -- silence conservative speech over the radio airwaves. Read MRC’s Special Report: Unmasking The Fairness Doctrine (.pdf)Help Declare Radio Independence Day!The Media Research Center is leading the effort to expose and defeat these efforts. The Broadcaster Freedom Act (H.R. 2905) -- a bill in Congress that would ban permanently the so-called “Fairness Doctrine.” -- is stalled in Congress. I'm a big Laura Ingraham fan so I was sad today to find out that she is no longer listed at the STREAMING RADIO GUIDE for Conservative talk radio shows. All they have is, at the bottom, a cryptic link to "[Not Laura Ingraham]." I hope she is back on the air soon. It's great that she is on FOX but her best format is radio. She is great the way she uses humor in her radio shows. Laura makes it a lot of FUn to review current events the way she handles it. Her interaction with her radio staff...

She could certainly continue doing the daily radio show from which she's been mysteriously absent the past week or so - but Fox News Channel says she'll be one of a series of personalities who get a shot at the permanent 5pm hosting job. She'll start next Monday, June 16, in the time period that had been hosted by John Gibson until February, and more recently by Bill Hemmer and Megyn Kelly. The New York Times says it was the first to report the story online, late this morning, and it speculates that the current "America's Election HQ" theme may...

'A THREE-WAY DEAL' =Unusual Partnership Will Oversee Sean Hannity Show *** EXCLUSIVE TO THE RADIO EQUALIZER *** Ending months of speculation over the fate of his syndicated radio program, Sean Hannity's radio show will be taken over by a unique, three-way partnership that includes current syndicator ABC Radio Networks, Clear Channel's Premiere Radio Networks division (NYSE:CCU), and Hannity himself, according to a source close to the discussions. As part of this highly unusual deal, Hannity will remain on Citadel- ABC Radio's stations, a development that probably brings a sigh of relief to program directors across the country. According to the...

The Fox News Channel, which has been seeking a new format for the 5 p.m. hour, will place a rotating series of personalities in the time slot beginning next week, including the conservative radio host Laura Ingraham. Ms. Ingraham, one of the country’s most popular radio hosts, frequently fills in for Bill O’Reilly, and Fox executives appear to be grooming her as a new talent for the network. Other people will also receive trial runs in the time slot.

Ingraham Takes Award, Doesn't Explain Radio Silence *** WITH IMPORTANT UPDATED DETAILS *** Less than a week after her sudden absence from the radio airwaves, syndicated talker Laura Ingraham found herself in a truly awkward position while picking up a radio industry award Saturday evening. And today, the mystery over her program's fate has only deepened. During the 2008 New Media Seminar, a talk radio convention held in Manhattan, Ingraham received the "Judy Jarvis Memorial Award for Outstanding Contributions by a Woman to Talk Radio". Touching on her past accomplishments in talk radio, Ingraham gave a brief speech to attendees,...

Across the street from the Yankee Clubhouse store on 59th Street in Manhattan, Laura Ingraham accepted Talkers magazine’s Woman of the Year award Saturday night.Author of The Hillary Trap, Ingraham gave a very different speech than the most talked about speech of the day, Hillary Clinton’s concession speech in Washington and endorsement of Barack Obama. Ingraham thanked Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Don Imus, for three, among others, for giving her her start and encouraging her dreams of the going on air with a daily “rollicking ride through politics and culture.” Ingraham conceded nothing but endorsed taking stock.

Laura Ingraham's Radio Absence Creates Speculation After an unexplained radio absence and a cryptic message from one of her producers, speculation is building that syndicated radio talker Laura Ingraham may have at least temporarily stepped away from her program. It has been carried on hundreds of stations across the country. Worried listeners have already begun to email your Radio Equalizer, while attempts to confirm her possible departure from the Talk Radio Network- distributed show are met with a peculiar silence. Will Laura return at some point, or has she already moved on? When yours truly contacted a number of people...

All right, 630 WMAL fans! Here's the latest scoop from the DCRTV.org blog [i.e. "rag"]-- Hannity To 3WT? TNT's Talkers To MAL & 3WT? - 6/3 - When we asked a top 3WTer about whether the Bonneville talker was talking to afternoon righty talk radio icon Sean Hannity, we were met with dead silence. Not a denial. Which makes us really wonder if there's some truth to the rumors that Hannity may soon be bolting from Citadel's family of stations, including WMAL. Also, it appears that Hannity could be talking to Fox or Premiere or Mark Masters about taking over...

Eric Alterman’s new book on Why We're Liberals isn’t just plagued with errors, it makes wild charges, like attacking conservative radio host Laura Ingraham, suggesting she was anti-Semitic for cheering on the movie The Passion of the Christ. In a chapter about how conservatives mock the elites, when they themselves are rich and pampered, Alterman wrote about conservatives: "In Ingraham’s case, as in many others, one detects a strain of anti-Semitism in her insistent elite-bashing." From pages 173-74: In observing the members of the conservative elite denouncing "elitists, it can be difficult to tell your players without the proverbial scorecard. For...

WASHINGTON - Even if Hillary Rodham Clinton and her aides do not mention Barack Obama's fiery-tongued spiritual mentor, don't expect the Illinois senator's well-publicized speech Tuesday to make the controversy disappear, political strategists said this week. Reporters, talk-show hosts and others will keep asking about Obama's close and long-standing relationship to the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, whose most bombastic comments came to dominate the Democratic presidential contest recently, the strategists predicted in interviews. In video clips playing on Internet sites, Wright can be heard arguing that HIV-AIDS was a U.S. government plot to wipe out "people of color," and that God...

A few months ago, a day before one of the occasional marches the Capital sees demanding an end to the Iraq War, I began the descent into the Metro stop near my office, looked up, and saw a number of representatives of Code Pink standing at the railing overlooking the escalator. Or rather, I heard them first. They were screaming at the parade of commuters, at the top of their lungs and in a tone somewhere between simple frustration and righteous anger, "End the war!!!" Well, I thought, that ought to take care of things. Good work, hippies! I kid...

File under Law of Unintended Consequences . . . There has been significant speculation in the MSM that an upshot of the NYT's McCain piece could be to rally support for McCain from conservatives like Rush Limbaugh who heretofore have been, shall we say, less than enthusiastic about the Arizona senator. Typical was this exchange from today's Good Morning America, which followed an appearance by McCain campaign advisor Charlie Black. View video here.

RFFM Commentary by Daniel T. Zanoza, Executive Director Fine. Senator John McCain of Arizona will be the Republican Party's candidate for the presidency of the United States. Is McCain perfect? No, but who is? However, McCain's policies do leave much to be desired. Here's the short list: McCain/Feingold; Gang of 14; McCain/Kennedy (amnesty for illegal immigrants); failed to support Bush tax cuts; voted for federal funding of embryonic stem cell research; and voted against drilling in ANWR--which would have lessened America's dependence on foreign oil. The dominant media does like McCain, well, that's until Barack Hussein Obama or Hillary Rodham...
