The father of a 21-year-old man who was shot and killed by police as he swung a knife at them on Roosevelt Island over the weekend said his family was “not OK.” “Please we are not able to talk with anybody,” the grieving dad told The Post on Saturday, one day after his son was shot by police. “We are not OK,” he continued when asked how the family was holding up.

London continues its downward spiral under London Mayor Saddiq Khan’s leadership. Or lack thereof. According to figures from the London Metropolitan Police, 49 percent of knife crime is committed by teenagers. Even more revealing were numbers that indicated that three quarters of knife crime perpetrators were minorities. This is part of a larger trend of failed government policies that are beginning to produce toxic social outcomes throughout the UK. A madman with a knife attacked people—seemingly at random—in a busy section of Paris Saturday before he was fatally gunned down by police, BFM TV reported. At least one person died and eight others were wounded in the attack, carried out near the Palais Garnier opera house, according to Le Parisien. "I just saw the man knifing random people," wrote Twitter user Esohe Denise Odaro. A police spokesperson confirmed the stabbing. "Attack in the Second Arrondissement of Paris by an individual armed with a knife, attacker brought under control by the police service. More information to follow."

Hundreds of additional police officers have been deployed on the streets of London this weekend in areas of the capital worst affected by the spike in violent crime. It comes as Mayor of London Sadiq Khan promised more arrests and backed increasing the use of intelligence-led stop and search by police, insisting keeping Londoners safe is his “top priority”. A 19-year-old man charged with the fatal shootings of a mother and her 5-year-old son last June was charged Thursday with a third unrelated shooting death that occurred on Halloween last year. Antonio Lewis, of the 5500 block of South Winchester, was charged with first-degree murder for the shooting that occurred Oct. 31, 2012. Thirty-year-old Brandon Johnson was fatally shot in the face when he answered the front door of his home during an apparent drug deal, police said.
