U.S. Secretary of State’s John Kerry’s closing memo to President Barack Obama painted a rosy picture of the U.S. role in the world since Obama took office in 2008. Kerry claimed Obama made the best of a bad situation, citing Obama’s inheritance of wars not his own in Iraq and Afghanistan, in addition to a grave economic crisis. Talking points seeking to validate Obama’s supposed success by blaming the past are a frequent and familiar direction for the Obama administration. “The United States is more secure, more respected, and more engaged in the world,” the glowing memo states, adding that,...

The Federal Bureau of Investigation’s failure to recognize political Islam as a driver of jihadist terrorism is partly to blame for the FBI not identifying one of the Boston Marathon bombers in 2011 as a security risk, according to U.S. officials and private counterterrorism analysts. The FBI revealed last week that it was warned by a foreign government in 2011 that Tamerlan Tsarnaev, who was killed Friday, was tied to “radical Islam” but the FBI was unable to confirm the links. “The fact is religion has been expunged from counterterrorism training,” said Sebastian Gorka, a counterterrorism specialist with the Foundation...

Steve Emerson just broke the shocking news that the Saudi National, Abdul al-Harbi, first questioned in the Boston bombing, is going to be deported on "national security grounds." He is from a very powerful Saudi family with many terrorist ties. Abdul al-Harbi is a devout Muslim from Medina. I said it takes longer than 15 hours to investigate all of Abdul al-Harbi's relatives, friends, acquaintances, and business and school friends. Perhaps a quick look at the Arabic sources should raise the eyebrows of every American relative to the extent of the problem at hand. Many from Al-Harbi’s clan are steeped...

A young diplomat is among the dead after a Taliban suicide car bombing branded "despicable" by US Secretary of State John Kerry. Taliban militants have killed six Americans, including a young female diplomat, in the deadliest day in Afghanistan for the US in eight months. Three members of the military, two US civilians and an Afghan doctor died after being hit by an explosion while travelling to donate books to a school in the south. In a statement, Secretary of State John Kerry paid tribute to Anne Smedinghoff, a 25-year-old foreign service officer with the US State Department, who was...

Being a prisoner of war in Vietnam had some high points but many more low ones. The worst days physically were behind us in 1970, 1971, and 1972. After Ho Chi Minh died in 1969, the routine torturing of POWs for propaganda purposes pretty much stopped. Our captors panicked in November, 1970, following the daring raid on a closed POW camp at Son Tai 20 miles west of Hanoi — and moved all of us into the huge Hoa Lo prison in central Hanoi. We finally were permitted a semblance of societal life after years in solitary and/or stuffed into...

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - A soldier from an Army Reserve unit whose members refused to deliver fuel along a dangerous route in Iraq says he and others did not act out of fear, as the soldier's father has said. "We are not cowards," Spc. Major Coates told The Charlotte Observer for a report published Thursday. "The way that things come out, it makes us look like that ... Our soldiers have run missions all over Iraq; we're never scared to go on a mission." Coates was among 19 members of a platoon from the 343rd Quartermaster Company, based in Rock...

The earlier thread about the October Surprise "Mutiny" hit piece on this mornings Today show prompted me to do some Googling to try to see if there were any connections of note. I felt that even the little evidence I found warranted a quick heads up and (forgive me) a separate thread as a call to action. I have no particular standing to do this, but this concerned me enough to fire off a flare. It looks like the extreme left is orchestrating an October Surprise propaganda campaign against the war in Iraq and President Bush by staging a "mutiny" of...

After a week-long advertising blitz, Jordan abruptly cancelled plans to broadcast a soap opera about Afghanistan after an internet threat to ”strike” everyone from actors to TV executives if the show portrayed the Taliban in a negative light. The Dubai-based Middle East Broadcasting Corporation, however, went ahead with its scheduled programming and aired the soap opera’s second episode on Saturday night. The series, “al-Tareeq ila Kabul” – Arabic for “the Road to Kabul” - chronicles life under Afghanistan’s former Taliban rulers, and was to be aired during the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan, which began on Friday in most Muslim...

BAGHDAD — Islamist extremists are targeting the city's universities by threatening and even attacking female students who wear Western-style fashions, setting off bombs on campuses and demanding that classes be segregated by sex. At least 1,000 of an estimated 3,000 women who want to postpone their studies for fear of violence will be granted leaves of absence, a student affairs official here said. Guards at al-Kindi University in Baghdad last week arrested a man carrying nearly 10 pounds of TNT in a bag. "The terrorist admitted that he belongs to an Islamic group," university security chief Sameer al-Sumaidai said. "When...

Wounds That Never Heal The wounds Kerry inflicted continue to pain Vietnam veterans. By Dexter Lehtinen American soldiers "raped, cut off ears, cut off heads, cut off limbs, randomly shot at civilians, razed villages in a fashion reminiscent of Genghis Khan...." — John Kerry, 1971 In 1971, I awoke from three days of unconsciousness aboard a hospital ship off the coast of Vietnam. I could not see, my jaws were wired shut, and my left cheekbone was missing, a gaping hole in its place. Later, while still in that condition at St. Albans Naval Hospital, one of my earliest recollections...

{I've never done this before- so please go easy. Any suggestions-feel free to fire away} Is there anyone out there that would like to help get the issue of -the POWs{Left behind} by Kerry & the Senate Select Committee of '93 - out into public? There are approx. 1170 persons still missing with 300+ possibly alive in '93{many of the others could have survived}. I don't want to get sappy here but how can we turn our backs and continue to pretend that this is over? Kerry et al managed to crush the investigation, close the doors and immediately pull...
