A Louisiana judge previously suspended for violating judicial conduct rules in a separate incident has been arrested and charged with corruption for taking bribes to alter defendants’ bonds. It marks the third case in the last decade that a Louisiana state judge is criminally charged for bond manipulation. Jefferson Parish judges Ronald Bodenheimer and Alan Green both went to jail for taking bribes from a bail bonds executive to alter bonds for the firm’s customers. Those judges got busted during an extensive federal investigation—Operation Wrinkled Robe—into Jefferson Parish Courthouse corruption. Bodenheimer spent nearly four years in prison and Green is...

President Obama and Congressional Democrats, in order to please their constituency, must nominate a Supreme Court Justice who is female and who is African American, because Whites, Jews, Catholics, Protestants and Men, have been over represented among the Supremes for nearly 200 years. Gays, as far as we know, have been overlooked so the nominee will also have to be "out." The nominee for Supreme Court Justice Must be Black - To meet PC quota system Must be a Woman, but not feminine Must love abortion more than Kathleen Sebelius Must hate men more than Kelly McGinnis Must be gayer...

The bankruptcy judge who oversaw the massive cleanup after the Enron and WorldCom meltdowns has a new challenge -- overhauling Chrysler LLC. Chrysler filed the case in one of the premier federal bankruptcy courts, and Gonzalez is one of its most experienced judges. He simultaneously handled the Enron and WorldCom bankruptcies earlier this decade -- both filed after massive accounting frauds were unearthed at the companies. "We have...

Liberal Democrats on Capitol Hill, including some of its most powerful members, are pressing for the impeachment of a federal judge over the Bush Administration's "torture memos", an aggressive move President Obama has no official power to stop. The growing calls for the impeachment of Judge Jay Bybee, who as a senior Justice Department lawyer in 2002 approved and signed a legal opinion that said harsh interrogation techniques, including the simulated drowning method known as waterboarding, did not constitute torture. Mr Obama has made clear that he wants to move on from the issue of alleged Bush-era abuses, but constitutionally...

Note: This story contains material that some readers might consider graphic and offensive. An openly homosexual blogger and judge of the Miss USA pageant has launched into a full-blown attack on Christian contestant Carrie Prejean – calling her a b-tch and a c---, as well as defacing photos of her with sexually explicit drawings – because she believes marriage should be between a man and a woman. At Sunday night's pageant, Prejean was asked the one question she dreaded most, "Vermont recently became the fourth state to legalize same-sex marriage; do you think every state should follow suit?" Her answer,...

Waukesha - The state Supreme Court campaign is ending with a fight over a new issue: Who is the better friend of Wisconsin gun owners? Challenger Randy Koschnick, a Jefferson County circuit judge, told Carroll University Republicans last week that a 2003 dissenting opinion written by Chief Justice Shirley Abrahamson showed a "hostility to gun owners" and their constitutional rights. Responding later, Abrahamson said: "Nothing in my record is hostile to gun owners. Nothing in my record is hostile to any group, any individual, any entity. "Judge Koschnick is doing anything at all to mislead the voters and distort the...

WASHINGTON (AP) — A federal judge on Tuesday ordered the United States to release a prisoner from the Guantanamo detention center who said he fears for his life after informing against senior al-Qaida leaders. U.S. District Judge Ellen Segal Huvelle issued a one-page judgment ordering the release of Yasin Muhammed Basardh, a 33-year-old from Yemen. The judge didn't say in the ruling why Basardh should be let go, but she said it was explained during a closed hearing in her courtroom earlier in the day.

JUDGES should interpret the Constitution according to other nations' legal "norms." Sharia law could apply to disputes in US courts. The United States constitutes an "axis of disobedience" along with North Korea and Saddam-era Iraq. Those are the views of the man on track to become one of the US government's top lawyers: Harold Koh.

On March 25th, Clinton-appointed Judge James Robertson (U.S. District Court), after having threatened to impose financial sanctions on John D. Hemenway for having enjoined the Berg lawsuit to force President Obama to release his birth records to prove his citizenship, backed down. Instead of financial penalties, the Judge issued a reprimand tinged with flippancy. Judge Robertson reconsidered his previous sanctions threat, possibly fearing monetary sanctions might spark a backlash and give a boost to the grassroots effort to force Mr. Obama to relinquish his records for public scrutiny. While the Judge gives passing tribute to Hemenway's long career of public...

In 2005, in Hinrichs v. Bosma, federal district judge (and now Seventh Circuit nominee) David Hamilton enjoined the Speaker of Indiana’s House of Representatives from permitting “sectarian” prayers to be offered as part of that body’s official proceedings. In so doing, Hamilton adopted one reasonable construction—though not the only one available—of the Supreme Court’s messy Establishment Clause rulings. (In denying a stay of Hamilton’s order pending appeal, the majority on a divided Seventh Circuit panel indicated that its “initial reading of the case law” strongly inclined it to Hamilton’s reading, but the Seventh Circuit ultimately reversed Hamilton on standing grounds.)...

(CNSNews.com) – A federal court in New York on Monday expanded teenagers’ access to Plan B – also known as the morning-after pill or emergency contraception. The court gave the Food and Drug Administration 30 days to make Plan B available over the counter to 17 year olds. Right now, the pill is available over the county only to those 18 years and up. Pro-life groups are dismayed that 17-year-old girls will now have unrestricted access to a drug that can produce abortion by preventing a fertilized egg from implanting in the uterus. But abortion rights groups celebrated the ruling,...

Gun prohibitionists are crowing that a federal judge on March 19 blocked a rule change allowing concealed carry in national parks. U.S. District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly, a Bill Clinton appointee, issued a preliminary injunction that the National Rifle Association says it will quickly appeal. BULLETIN: The NRA on Friday filed an appeal in this case. An apparently giddy Paul Helmke, president of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, was quoted by the Associated Press noting, “We’re happy that this headlong rush to push more guns into more places has been slowed.” Darned right he’s happy, but this has nothing...

I'll leave it to others to present statistical arguments refuting U.S. District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly's insane ruling that an environmental impact study has any relevance to real-world consequences if existing state laws regarding concealed carry are applied in national parks. The crux of her extremist position? The lynchpin of Defendants’ response is that the Final Rule has no environmental impacts–and that Defendants were not required to perform any environmental analysis–because the Final Rule only authorizes persons to possess concealed, loaded, and operable firearms in national parks and wildlife refuges, and does not authorize persons to discharge, brandish, or otherwise use...

VICTIMS of a despicable serial burglar burst into applause while in court when a judge jailed him for 17 years. PLEASANTON — An Alameda County Superior Court judge has been admonished by a state commission for making inappropriate remarks during proceedings in her Pleasanton courtroom. New technology? It's all a mistake Italian bloggers are up in arms at a court ruling early this year that suggests almost all Italian blogs are illegal. Philadelphia was the birthplace of freedom in this nation, given that the Declaration of Independence was signed there.
