Sen. John Kerry seeks permission to invest in documentary June 16, 2009 Kerry makes a film bid Sen. John Kerry has made it in politics. Now he wants to be a movie producer. The Massachusetts Democrat has asked the Senate ethics panel if he can use $300,000 from his campaign funds to invest in a documentary about injured Iraq war veterans. Kerry has also sought approval from the Federal Election Commission. The former Democratic presidential nominee hopes to be an executive producer for a movie tentatively titled "Keeping Faith" by White Mountain Films. The senator, who chairs the Senate Foreign...

Hanoi, Vietnam, Jun 11, 2009 (CNA).- The Vietnamese government has renewed its seizures of Catholic Church properties in the country, demolishing several monasteries to build hotels and tourist resorts. The move has generated fears that the government has adopted a new and “harsh” approach to Catholics. Last week the government ordered the destruction of the monastery of the Congregation of the Brothers of the Holy Family in Long Xuyen, Vietnam. A spokesman for the diocese said the former two-story home of the priests and religious of the Holy Family Order was destroyed on June 4. The Sisters of St. Paul...

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Internal Revenue Service has filed a $819,848 tax lien against Sen. John Kerry's 2004 presidential campaign, but Kerry on Wednesday blamed IRS clerical error for the claim and said his campaign owes no tax penalties. The Massachusetts Democrat said the IRS mishandled payroll tax forms that he said were correctly filed by his campaign in 2005. "This is a clerical matter, nothing more, nothing less," said Kerry spokeswoman Whitney Smith.

The Internal Revenue Service has filed a tax lien seeking more than $800,000 from Sen. John Kerry's 2004 presidential campaign, escalating a dispute over payroll taxes that the lawmaker's office blames on faulty government paperwork. The episode has left a candidate who fell just a few percentage points short of winning the White House trying to convince the government's tax collector that his campaign already paid the taxes and doesn't owe any more. The IRS filed the lien in the District of Columbia earlier this year, claiming that a previous attempt to collect the money was unsuccessful. "We have made...

I've been invited on Lars Larson's nationally-syndicated show today to talk about my recent article in the American Thinker, Media still lying about the Swift Boat Veterans and the book I co-authored with Tim Ziegler, To Set The Record Straight: How Swift Boat Veterans, POWs and the New Media Defeated John Kerry.

Five years ago, a group of Vietnam veterans came forward at the National Press Club in Washington to dispute the "war hero" stories that formed the basis of candidate John Kerry's presidential campaign, and to challenge the claims of rampant US war crimes Kerry had used to launch his political career 33 years earlier -- false accusations, they said, that helped to poison the reputations of a generation of American troops. The Swift Boat Veterans for Truth included Kerry's entire former chain of command from Vietnam and dozens of eyewitnesses to his actions there. Kerry, the veterans said, was not...

Sen. John Forbes Kerry has spent the week futilely trying to prop up two of his oldest, dearest friends - the Boston Globe and a convicted kiddie-porn pervert named Wade Sanders. You know about the Globe. Despite Kerry’s Senate hearings into the implosion of arrogant left-wing newspapers, El Globo continues to circle the drain. You’ve heard less about Wade Sanders, or nothing at all if you rely on the Globe. He’s a liberal and a pervert and a criminal, and he’s been a close pal of John Kerry’s for 43 years. Nothing to see here, folks, move along. Anyway, Liveshot’s...

The United States has stepped back from the notion of "regime change" in Iran, US Sen. John Kerry stressed Wednesday, urging that Iran also moderate its actions. We are not in a regime change mode," said the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee during a hearing on the Islamic Republic. "Just as we abandon calls for regime change in Teheran and recognize a legitimate Iranian role in the region, Iran's leaders must moderate their behavior and that of their proxies, Hizbullah and Hamas." Kerry praised the Obama administration's focus on diplomacy with Iran, adding that "engagement alone is not...

Wade Sanders, who pleaded guilty in December to possession of child pornography, was sentenced Monday, and he got off relatively easy. Sanders had argued that he deserved only probation... The Union-Tribune describes Sanders as a "war hero," but he is best known for his service to John Kerry, the 2004 Democratic presidential nominee. Kerry's central campaign claim was that he deserved to be president because his so-called band of brothers, veterans who had served alongside him on Navy Swift boats in Vietnam, vouched for his heroism and his impeccable character. Kerry did not know that one of his fiercest defenders...

Top US Senator: US no longer wants Iranian 'regime change' 28 mins ago WASHINGTON (AFP) – The United States no longer seeks "regime change" in Iran and Tehran should respond accordingly by heeding global demands it freeze its suspect nuclear program, a top US senator said Wednesday. "We are not in 'regime change' mode," Democrat John Kerry, the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee told a hearing exploring the prospects for US President Barack Obama's new policy of engaging the Islamic republic. "Our efforts must be reciprocated by the other side: Just as we abandon calls for regime change...

When John Kerry ran for President in 2004, an outraged group of men rose up against him - his own fellow Swift Boat sailors. Two hundred and fifty signed a letter stating that John Kerry - who had demonized his own fellow veterans as war criminals and who had repeatedly made claims that these eyewitnesses knew weren't true - was unfit for command. Against these 250 war veterans were 12 men who claimed that John Kerry was a man of honor. And now we learn that one of these dozen men is a child porn pedophile. FEDERAL COURT — War...

Senate foreign relations committee chairman John Kerry said on Friday that he was concerned the release of photos depicting the abusive treatment of detainees in U.S. custody could become "propaganda tool" for terrorist organizations. In an interview with the Huffington Post, the Massachusetts Democrat was asked to respond to news that the Department of Defense would be releasing 44 photos pertaining to the harsh handling of detainees at prisons in Iraq and Afghanistan. "I think showing the truth is always important," said Kerry. "But I do think it will be used as a propaganda tool and have some damaging impact....

The Washington Times reports that Senator John Kerry is concerned about the plight of the newspaper industry, particularly his hometown paper, The Boston Globe. Troubled by the possible shuttering of his hometown paper, Sen. John Kerry reached out to the Boston Globe on Tuesday, then called for Senate hearings to address the woes of the nation's print media… "America's newspapers are struggling to survive, and while there will be serious consequences in terms of the lives and financial security of the employees involved, including hundreds at the Globe, there will also be serious consequences for our democracy where diversity of...

Mogadishu -- It’s been a quiet year for John Kerry, socialist senator from Massachusetts. Effectively relegated to back bencher status now that b. Hussein and Joe “Sixpack” Biden are in charge, Kerry’s kept his mouth and public appearances relatively in check. Until now. This image was taken today of Kerry, dressed as a Somali pirate, just before he fled the deck of the Maersk Alabama, the cargo ship hijacked yesterday in the Indian Ocean.

Last month, a hit squad sent by a Mexican drug cartel brazenly broke into the homes of nine police officers in a ranching town in northern Mexico. They kidnapped the officers, piled them into a convoy of SUVs and sped off into the night. After being summoned by local authorities, troops from Ciudad Juarez, 80 miles to the north, located the convoy and fought a running gun battle with the kidnappers. When the smoke cleared, 21 people were dead, including six policemen who had been tortured and murdered before the soldiers could save them. Even in Mexico, where a spiraling...

WASHINGTON (AFP) — A senior US senator cautioned Monday against deployments of national guard troops to the US border with Mexico, saying such a move would be "premature and possibly counter-productive." In remarks prepared for a special hearing in the Texas border city of El Paso, Senator John Kerry, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, also warned against the alarmist tone of a US debate over drug violence in Mexico. "The idea of dispatching the national guard to the border is premature and possibly counterproductive," he said. His remarks echoed those of senior administration officials who in recent days...

As attention focuses on the lack of people at Treasury to help the beleagured Tim Geithner, Dems–with a helping hand from the MSM– naturally try to shift the blame to Republicans, accusing them of holding up nominations. We just had a perfect example of the phenomenon as—with an assist from Andrea Mitchell—John Kerry decried the intrusion of “partisan politics” into the confirmation process. Mitchell wanted to “clear up what you’re talking about” by explaining to viewers that “it’s probably Republicans” who have put holds on nominees. Thanks, Andrea. But I found myself wondering: has the great junior senator from Massachusetts...

By now you’ve probably heard that the Senate approved an amendment a few days ago to outlaw the “Fairness Doctrine.” Republican Senator Jim DeMint’s amendment passed by a comfortable margin of 87-to-11. Although one would think it’s important to know which senators cast their votes in favor of censorship, we can’t find a single news report that calls out their names. So we’ll do it:

February 21, 2009 Our Keystone Cops Foreign PolicyRick Moran It appears that Barack Obama's foreign policy team is going to make us pine for the days of the Bush Administration's competency by comparison very soon. I'm not sure what exactly this story illustrates except there doesn't seem to be anyone home at the White House yet. You may recall the hubbub over Senator Kerry being handed a letter that was from Hamas which he promptly turned over to the American consulate at his next stop which happened to be Jerusalem. Well now Kerry swears he didn't know it was from...

Islamic fundamentalist group Hamas passed Sen. John Kerry a letter for President Obama while Kerry visited Gaza on Thursday, senior State Department officials said. Sen. John Kerry tours Gaza's ruins with U.N. officials Thursday, the day he reportedly got a letter from Hamas. The letter for the president is in the hands of the U.S. Consulate in Jerusalem, the officials said Friday. Kerry, the Democratic chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, toured the devastation in Gaza and met with officials from the U.N. Works Relief Agency, the main provider of humanitarian aid in Gaza. Frederick Jones, the committee's communications...

John Kerry was very vocal about alleged war crimes committed by the U.S. in Vietnam. He doesn't have any problem accepting a letter from known terrorist group Hamas. The letter is for President Obama and it was delivered by U.N. officials. Senator Kerry and the U.N. seem to working be together for the benefit of a terrorist group. Why am I not surprised?

In 2006 there was a Hamas attack on an American diplomatic convoy in Gaza. Since then the rule has been, US Government personnel were to avoid the Gaza Strip because there was no way to guarantee their safety without strong coordination with the terrorist group Hamas and the terrorist enablers UNRWA.........Today Senator John "Why the Long Face" Kerry, along with Congressmen Keith Ellison and Brian Baird are touring Gaza. They are being led around by UNRWA and their security is arraigned by Hamas, one thing is certain they are getting a skewed version of last month's events in Gaza. The...

(video of Kerry telling us this) Democrat Senator John Kerry, who’s never earned a cent of his own money and who lives extravagantly on money his wife didn’t earn, thinks he knows how to spend the money you earn better than you do. There’s no doubt that the Senator is a highly-trained professional with years of experience spending other people’s money, whether it belongs to his wives or his constituents. We miss John Kerry since he retreated to the shadows. His comments used to be good for at least a laugh a week.

Former Vice President Al Gore brought a stark message to the Senate on Wednesday: A new climate change treaty is critical to continuing human life on Earth. The Nobel Peace Prize winner urged the Senate Foreign Relations Committee to push for a U.S.-brokered treaty in December in Copenhagen, Denmark, where the United Nations will host a climate change conference. Only the United States can lead such an effort, he said. “This is the one challenge that could completely end human civilization, and it is rushing at us with such speed and force,” said Gore, who won an Oscar for the...

Gore: Earth in 'grave danger' Tom LoBianco (Contact) UPDATED: Former Vice President Al Gore told lawmakers Wednesday morning that the earth is in "grave danger" and that the nation must break its dependence on oil. Mr. Gore said Congress must pass a cap and trade bill and increase tax breaks for renewable energy sources before going before the U.N. climate change conference this December to negotiate new carbon-reduction benchmarks. "Climate change will be increasingly central to our foreign policy and national security, and it will be a focal point of this committee's efforts as well," said Sen. John Kerry, the...

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton on Monday appointed a special envoy for climate change, vowing that the Obama administration would restore U.S. credentials and leadership in shaping environmental policy. Pledging that the United States would play a primary role in international efforts to stem global warming, Clinton named Todd Stern, a former White House assistant who was the chief U.S. negotiator at the Kyoto Protocol talks in her husband's administration, to the post. "American leadership is essential to meeting the challenges of the 21st century, and chief among those is the complex, urgent and global threat of climate change,"...

That didn’t take long. The big ruse during the transition was that so many of Barack Obama’s appointments were not as far left as he. This was supposed to prove that those of us who feared he might lurch left of left once in office were hysterical idiots. Well, this idiot likes to get his savant on and explain how things really are. There are just enough radical left components to President Obama’s vision for America to drag us so far that we’ll end up standing just to the left of Denmark in the New World Order class photo. Climate...

THE kumbaya crowd which pressed for East Timor's independence must shoulder much of the blame for the failure of its dysfunctional Government. But while the collective of liberation theologists and civil rights lawyers cheered Fretilin's Portugese-educated Marxist guerrilla leaders, the same candle-wavers protested against the toppling of the mass murdering Iraqi dictator, Saddam Hussein. Yet East Timor, with a population estimated at about one million, whose independence was internationally recognised on May 20, 2002, is now arguably in proportionately worse shape than Iraq, population 26 million, where the first election under its new constitution took place just last December. The...

Politics: Is anyone surprised that the would-be czarina of federal climate and energy policy has ties to a socialist group? CHOEUNG EK, Cambodia (Reuters) - The chief torturer under the Khmer Rouge "Killing Fields" regime wept and prayed on Tuesday as he led the judges who will try him for crimes against humanity around the mass graves for some of its victims. Duch, also known as Kaing Guek Eav, accompanied 80 judges, lawyers and other officials of a U.N.-backed tribunal to the 129 graves, uncovered after a Vietnamese invasion sent the Khmer Rouge back to the jungles in 1979. They only understand one thing: attack...” Newsmax asked Ms. Coulter to respond...

(CNN) -- A lawyer who served in the Clinton administration and more recently was an adviser to California's lieutenant governor pleaded guilty to a child porn charge in a San Diego federal court Monday. Wade Rowland Sanders admitted to having 600 images of minors on his computer, including a video depicting "several prepubescent females engaged in sexual conduct with an adult male and performing oral sex on one another," according to a statement from U.S. Attorney Karen Hewitt. Remember Wade Sanders? He was one of the "band of brothers"--Swift Boat veterans who supported John Kerry's presidential campaign and appeared onstage at the 2004 Democratic National Convention. Sanders was one of Kerry's nastiest surrogates. In August 2004, he likened the president to a "trapped animal." In September, he compared Karl Rove and Swift Boat Veterans for Truth chief John O'Neill to Josef Goebbels. He repeatedly referred to the president and his men as "chicken hawks," an especially nasty term because it is slang for a child molester as well as a derisive term for a nonveteran who favors a...

During the 2004 presidential campaign, John Kerry tried to overcome the dubious distinction of being, per the National Journal, the most liberal senator. His attempts to deny the obvious led to a memorable exchange with NYT's Elisabeth Bumiller [transcript after jump] in which he famously fought off the liberal tag as a "laughable characterization." But four years later, having lost the presidency and just this week failed in his bid to become Secretary of State, perhaps Kerry calculates he has nothing left to lose. Writing at the Huffington Post, he's letting his liberal flag, or his progressive pennant, to be...

Barack Obama, who promised last week to write a "new chapter in America's leadership" on the environment, could find his hands tied by the economic crisis, a leading figure in global climate change negotiations said yesterday. John Kerry, who will lead the US Senate's delegation to the UN's climate meeting in Poznan, Poland, next month, said his country was now in a position to play a leading role on global climate change negotiations. But he also said Obama's administration would be constrained by the economic crisis in offering incentives to countries such as India and China to commit themselves to...

One Democratic operative suggests keeping track of Barack Obama’s cabinet selections with a March Madness-type tournament chart. While no official announcements have been made, a controlled series of leaks have given a good sense of who's still in contention, and which big names have been bounced from the bracket. The new administration still has some major posts to fill, including heads for the departments of Defense, Housing and Urban Development, Transportation, Labor, and Energy, not to mention the Environmental Protection Agency. But a number of the biggest prizes seem to have already been won, and a handful of serious contenders...

Identity politics in the Democratic Party are already presenting challenges to President-elect Barack Obama, who is under pressure to appoint Hispanics and African-Americans to key posts in his administration. Both groups were crucial to Obama’s victory last week over Republican John McCain. Ninety-six percent of African-American voters cast ballots for Obama, while 67 percent of Hispanic voters. Both are now counting on Obama to appoint Hispanic and African-American politicians to his Cabinet as a way of rewarding their support. New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, a Hispanic who ran for the Democratic presidential nomination but later endorsed Obama, should be secretary...

JOHN KERRY is in a public relations pickle. It's bad form to seem hungry for a Cabinet post, particularly if you've just run for reelection professing that there's nothing more in the once-vast realm of your ambition than serving the good and decent people of Massachusetts. But despite his office's attempt to knock the story down, Kerry is not only eyeing the secretary of state's job, he has emerged as a top contender for Foggy Bottom. Message from The National Republican Trust PAC From Scott Wheeler Dear Supporter: Yesterday John Kerry sent out an e-mail to fellow Democrats attacking our ad exposing Obama's unbelievable plan to give driver's licenses to illegal aliens. The mainstream media, long the accomplices of the liberal Democrats, want you to believe that the election is already over. It’s not. John Kerry used to boast about his close ties to Republican John McCain; he even considered choosing the Arizona senator as his running mate after he won the Democratic presidential nomination in 2004. Today the longtime pals have lost that loving feeling. This year’s bruising presidential race has driven a wedge between the two decorated Vietnam War Navy combat veterans. The pair forged a close relationship in the early 1990s working together to heal the war’s lingering wounds — and have rushed to defend each other from low political blows in past races. McCain was Kerry’s favorite Republican; Kerry called...
