A small crowd greeted Democrat nominee Hillary Clinton’s daughter Chelsea at a campaign stop in Sioux City, Iowa on Tuesday. At the Orpheum theater, Chelsea defended her mother and attacked Republican Presidential nominee Donald Trump to a crowd reported to include just 125 people. Chelsea Clinton told those in attendance that she doesn’t want to live in a country with what she called the “demeaning speak” of Trump. “The demeaning speak against Americans with disabilities, against women, against minorities, against Muslims, against immigrants, against our veterans, against a gold-star family,” Clinton said. “None of that is the country that I...

This is a great video as to how Mr. Trump and Republicans reached out to the Root family after their daughter (my daughter's best friend) was killed by alleged drunk driver and illegal immigrant Edwin Mejia. Michelle and her ex-husband both voted twice for Obama, but only Republicans reached out to them after the accident. Sens. Ernst, Fischer, Grassley, Sasse and Sessions all offered to help and not one of them asked of their political affiliations, just how they could help. From Congress it was Young, King, Gowdy,Goodlatte, Chaffetz and Gohmert plus along with countless other committee members and their...

Donald Trump wants to know how many Christian conservatives are backing him in Iowa. The Republican presidential nominee asked those attending a Wednesday afternoon rally in Council Bluffs to raise their hands "if you're not a Christian conservative." He noticed "a couple people" raising their hands. He asked the crowd, "Should we keep them in the room?" He answered himself, "Yes, I think so." Many Iowa Republicans are Christian conservatives. The thrice married Trump has faced tough questions of his own about his devotion to Christian values....

Slight background. Dems in IA always vote much higher absentee compared to GOP. This has gone on for several elections now. GOP always makes up for it on election day at least in 2004 not 2008/2012. Off topic but FL, for some reason, this pattern is reversed. So here on the first day of absentee ballot requests of 2016 compared to the first day of absentee ballot requests in 2012: 9/17/12: D-92,850; R-13,635; I-28,091 9/20/16: D-43,443; R-15,272; I-16,360

Every election year, National Right to Life publishes downloadable comparison flyers about the various Senate candidates. The downloadable version for Iowa’s “Where do the Senate Candidates Stand on Life?” is available here. The candidates have very different views on abortion. Here is an overview of their positions on abortion-related issues. Abortion on Demand Chuck Grassley is pro-life. He opposes abortion on demand, and supports protection for unborn children. Chuck Grassley co-sponsored and voted to advance the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act (H.R. 36), legislation to protect unborn children who can feel pain by prohibiting abortion at 20 weeks, a point...

The Obama administration shocked the oil industry last week, pulling the plug on a major oil pipeline from the Bakken that had become a flashpoint between a pipeline company on the one hand, and a growing coalition of Native American tribes and environmentalists on the other. Everyone was anxiously waiting a Friday ruling from a U.S. federal judge, who was weighing a request from the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe to stop construction on the Dakota Access Pipeline, a $3.8 billion 1,168-mile oil pipeline that would run from North Dakota to Iowa and Illinois. The pipeline would threaten sacred lands and...
