The federal government continues to tell us that there are 12 million illegal aliens currently living in the United States. However, the actual number in undoubtedly four to five times higher. The way the feds arrive at their numbers is as absurd as their assertion that we can maintain law and order without actually defending our borders. Washington arbitrarily estimates that every year since 1986, a half million illegal aliens take up residence in this country, either by over-staying their visa or by crossing into this country illegally. When you multiply a half million by 22 years, then add the...

Border Crackdown Makes Farming in U.S. Forests Attractive; Cartel Links Suspected Marijuana growers, many believed to be affiliated with Mexican drug cartels, are aggressively expanding their illegal farming operations in the U.S., clearing land to plant pot in dozens of national forests from coast to coast. Illicit cannabis farms on public land first sprang up in California more than a decade ago and remain a serious problem in that state. But in the past two years, the U.S. Forest Service has documented a rapid expansion of the practice. Authorities have discovered pot farms in 61 national forests across 16 states...

This is a video of Nabeel Qureshi and David Wood asking questions at Arabfest, Dearborn. While we responded to them, festival security started assaulting us, as you will see in this video. The conclusion of this video is a mob of festival security attacking our cameras, pushing us back, kicking our legs, and lying to the police. We ask you, is it a coincidence that the city with the highest percentage of Muslims in the United States is the city where Christianity is not allowed to be represented (let alone preached) on a public sidewalk? Is it coincidence that in...

Buried in the 1,017 pages of the House Democrats’ health-care bill is a little-noticed provision that for the first time could give the government access to the checking or credit-card information of every American. Under section 163, which is entitled “Administrative Simplification,” the bill sets new “standards” for electronic transactions between individuals and their health-care providers. According to section 163, the standards will “enable the real-time (or near real-time) determination of an individual’s financial responsibility at the point of service . . . ” In addition, they will “enable electronic funds transfers, in order to allow automated reconciliation with related...

I was involved in a very minor fender bender on 94 West in Milwaukee on Friday. The responding officer took down my driver's license information (even though I was a passenger) and statement (the other car drove off and I gave a partial plate) Today I get 7 mailings from 6 different law firms about my accident, my friend who was the driver received 8 mailings. As the Milwaukee Sheriff's Department is the only entity that knows about it, they must have sold my information to the law firms in the area. Can they do this? I also gave my...

California could get nine House seats it doesn’t constitutionally rate because illegal aliens will be counted in 2010, concluded an opinion piece in The Wall Street Journal. The forthcoming census, which determines the apportionment of House members and Electoral College votes for each state, will be counting all persons physically present in the country -- without regard to the legality of their status. Set for big gains thanks to illegal populations is not only California but Florida, Illinois, Nevada, New Jersey, New York and Texas, according to the Census Bureau’s 2007 American Community Survey data. California has 5,622,422 noncitizens in...

The EU is facing an era of vast social change, reports Adrian Michaels, and few politicians are taking notice Britain and the rest of the European Union are ignoring a demographic time bomb: a recent rush into the EU by migrants, including millions of Muslims, will change the continent beyond recognition over the next two decades, and almost no policy-makers are talking about it. The numbers are startling. Only 3.2 per cent of Spain's population was foreign-born in 1998. In 2007 it was 13.4 per cent. Europe's Muslim population has more than doubled in the past 30 years and will...

The Obama administration plans to place federal employees in the largest immigration detention facilities in the country to monitor detainee treatment. WASHINGTON -- The Obama administration plans to place federal employees in the largest immigration detention facilities in the country to monitor detainee treatment. This oversight role is currently handled by private contractors. But under the new plan, Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials would be placed at the largest jails to directly supervise how the detention centers are managed, according to people briefed on the government's plan. The government has been criticized for its treatment of immigration detainees, and Homeland...

With the help of unions, partisan politicians and pro-amnesty groups, the White House intends to push for back-door amnesty and bypass Congress altogether. “It makes sense to do now what the administration can do… it doesn’t have to go through Congress. It (amnesty) doesn’t have to go through the toxic political process,” said Ana Avendano of the AFL-CIO at a recent press conference. The AFL-CIO is one of the largest union representatives which include all the radio/broadcasters as well as the Hollywood crowd. The Obama Administration is making a three pronged effort to gain amnesty without bringing the always hot-button...

SAN DIEGO — The FBI is offering $10,000 for help finding the gun of a Border Patrol agent who was slain last week in a rugged area outside San Diego. The FBI says Rosas carried a black Heckler & Koch P2000, a .40-caliber gun. Mexican authorities have detained five men in connection with the case. They say one of them — 36-year-old Ernesto Parra Valenzuela — carried a 9 mm pistol when he was captured.

During a news conference Saturday, Mexico police did not...

GUATEMALA CITY — Guatemalan drug boss Juan Jose "Juancho" Leon was summoned by Mexican traffickers for what he was told was business. Instead, dozens of attackers ambushed his entourage with grenades and assault rifles, killing Leon and 10 others in a brazen demonstration of power. Mexican drug traffickers are branching out as never before — spreading their tentacles into 47 nations, including the U.S., Guatemala and even Colombia, long the heart of the drug trade in Latin America. The expansion comes amid a military crackdown in Mexico and the arrests of major Colombian suppliers and poses a new challenge for...

The city's plans to step up cooperation with federal authorities in efforts to deport illegal immigrants is garnering new debate in the 2009 mayoral contest. Latino advocates have pressed candidates to distance themselves from Mayor Bill White's request that Houston be allowed to participate in two federal programs that, at least within the confines of the city's jails, would put police officers in the immigration enforcement business. While each of the four major candidates generally opposes diverting too many resources to immigration enforcement, they all support the thrust of the city's new effort to screen jail inmates and turn over...

"But also there is work that Guard personnel could do to relieve the burden from Border Patrol and Customs." Rep. Jack Kingston and Rep. Ken Calvart proposed two separate E-Verify amendments to the House Appropriations bill for FY2010, but both amendments failed earlier today. The Kingston amendment would have required government contractors to run all employees and new hires through E-Verify. Rep. The amendment would have countered a new executive order that the Administration is expected to announce today that weakens the 2008 executive order making requiring all government contractors to use E-Verify.

NEW ORLEANS | It's "A Gathering of the Greatest Generation" - though this year only a small group of that era's aging heroes will commemorate the invasion of France at Normandy 65 years ago. However, organizers acknowledge few members of an already dwindling population are hardy enough to make the trip. Immigration is added atop heavy agenda By Alexander Bolton Posted: 06/04/09 08:17 PM [ET] Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) added yet another huge task to his 2009 agenda, saying the chamber would take up a broad rewrite of the nation’s immigration laws in a year already crowded with debates on healthcare, climate change and a Supreme Court nominee. Charles Schumer (N.Y.), the third-ranking member of the Democratic Conference leadership team. It also comes...

As we saw this morning, American citizens are not faring too well in the era of the Eric Holder Justice Department. But aliens — especially those who are illegally in our country, or who commit crimes in our country — continue to thrive. The Legal Times is reporting that Attorney General Holder has reversed the ruling by Attorney General Mukasey that aliens in immigration removal proceedings have no right to effective assistance of counsel. As Mukasey explained back in January, in a well-reasoned 34-page opinion which carefully analyzed the pertinent law, the Sixth Amendment right to counsel applies only to...

With the recent Obama nomination for the United States Supreme Court of La Raza member, Sonia Sotomayor, it got me to thinking. I have often said, that whenever you want to really learn about something, you must first start at its inception, or its root system. A majority of Hispanic children are now U.S.-born children of immigrants, primarily Mexicans who came to this country in an immigration wave that began about 1980, according to a report released yesterday. The analysis of census data by the nonpartisan, Washington-based Pew Hispanic Center charts a substantial demographic shift among the nation's 16 million Hispanic children, who constitute one of the fastest growing child populations in the United States and account for more than one of five U.S. children. As recently as 1980, nearly six of 10 Latino children were in the third generation or higher, meaning that their parents,...

More than one in five of all children in the United States are Hispanic – a significant jump from 29 years ago when only about 9 percent of children were Latino, according to a Pew Hispanic report released today. The study, called "Latino Children: A majority are U.S.-Born offspring of Immigrants," states that more than half of the nation's 16 million Latino children are now "second generation," which means they are the U.S.-born children of at least one foreign-born parent. In California the number of second generation Latino children is 62 percent.

SELLS, Ariz. – The reputed head of Mexico’s Sinaloa drug cartel is threatening a more aggressive stance against U.S. law enforcement, instructing associates to use deadly force, if needed, to protect increasingly contested trafficking operations, authorities said. Such a move by Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, Mexico’s most-wanted man, would mark a turn from the cartel’s previous position of largely avoiding violent confrontations north of the border – either with American law enforcement officers or fellow traffickers. Local police and federal agents in Arizona said they recently have received at least two law enforcement alerts focused on Guzman’s reported orders that...

George Skelton, Capitol Journal May 4, 2009 George Skelton From Sacramento -- The swine flu scare may be hype. Maybe not.
