There are new details about the extent of Shia LaBeouf's hand injury—and they're not pretty. LaBeouf's left hand was "crushed" in last weekend's rollover car crash, and the young star will require "regular medical supervision until his doctors clear him to return to work," LaBeouf attorney Michael Norris said in a statement Friday. There was no new timetable for LaBeouf's return to work on Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, the big-budget sequel the actor had been shooting. Earlier, pre-"crushed" reports said LaBeouf would be out a month. A rep for Paramount Pictures, the studio behind the Transformers franchise, told E!...

WEST HOLLYWOOD Actor Shia LaBeouf reportedly was driving drunk when he crashed his pickup truck into another vehicle, and rolled the truck twice, at a 2:24 a.m. crash in West Hollywood, authorities said Sunday. LaBeouf, 22, was taken by ambulance to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where was surgery for his left hand at 9 a.m., said Sgt K. Aloma of the sheriff's West Hollywood station. At least two other people were injured as well, including the woman who was riding with him in the actor's Ford F-150 pickup truck. LaBoeuf had a supporting role in this summer's "Indiana Jones and the...

The most recent Indiana Jones film more than recouped its big budget with an estimated $311 million in global box office sales through the long weekend, according to studio estimates Monday. Families went in droves to catch "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull," a PG-13 adventure starring Harrison Ford as the whip-cracking archaeologist who took 19 years to return to the big screen. Paramount Pictures estimated the action sequel made $151.1 million in the U.S. and Canada from Thursday to the holiday Monday and $160 million overseas. It marked the second biggest Memorial Day weekend opening ever,...

CANNES, France (Reuters) - Indiana Jones returns 19 years after his last adventure, and early reaction suggests the majority of Cannes film festival's notoriously picky critics are happy the whip-wielding archaeologist is back. Harrison Ford reprises his most famous role in "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull," a high-octane fantasy set in the 1950s when Jones no longer faces Nazis but a KGB agent after the ultimate Cold War weapon -- mind control. There are plenty of jokes about 65-year-old Ford's age, and he reunites with Karen Allen, co-star in the first Indiana Jones movie "Raiders of...

I loved the three originals. I wasn't expecting much from the Crystal Skull, but I have to say I was surprised! It wasn't just mediocre, it was complete crap. Not partial crap, mind you. It was total crap - actually painful to sit through. I should have walked out. The eight bucks was a sunk cost. I lost utility by sitting through it. I went on a beer run a while back. I had to wait fifteen minutes for the liquor store to open. Sitting there with a bunch of other high society types, I recontemplated my life. I felt...

He has battled against Nazi villains, a Beduin swordsman and a pit of poisonous snakes. Now Indiana Jones can add the Communist Party of St Petersburg to his list of adversaries. Party leaders accused the actors Harrison Ford and Cate Blanchett yesterday of promoting crude, anti-Soviet propaganda in their new film, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. They have urged Russian moviegoers to boycott the film and told Ford, 65, not to visit the country. The swashbuckling archaeologist’s fourth adventure is set in the Cold War in 1957. It pits Indiana Jones against a sinister KGB agent,...

Looking at the origins and makeup of the various Indy films, it is clear that the producer-director combination of George Lucas and Steven Spielberg sought to create a James Bond-like character [1]. Even so, there are major differences between Indy and James Bond, starting with the fact that the latter is employed by a government agency with a "license to kill" across national borders. In effect, Bond was the archetypal imperialist figure for whom national boundaries meant nothing as he carried out his government's orders with scant disregard for life and even less for clothing his women. All in all,...

Egyptologist and pre-historian Stephen Mehler will share research into the crystal skulls and how they relate to UFOs, ETs, and portals into other dimensions. I guess this in celebration of the new Indiana Jones movie.

MOSCOW (Reuters) - Communist party members in St Petersburg on Friday condemned the new Indiana Jones' film as crude anti-Soviet propaganda that distorted history and called for it to be banned from Russian screens. "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" stars Harrison Ford as an archeologist in 1957 competing with an evil KGB agent, played by Cate Blanchett, to find a skull endowed with mystic powers. "What galls is how together with America we defeated Hitler, and how we sympathized when Bin Laden hit them. But they go ahead and scare kids with Communists. These people have...

There's a lot to enjoy about this fourth installment of Indiana Jones. It's fun, silly, adventure-filled and completely entertaining in ways we don't always get from movies these days, with the greatest parts coming straight from the marvelous imagination of Steven Spielberg. Plus, it's a summertime blockbuster that doesn't totally rely on CGI which feels practically old-fashioned — and I mean that in the best way possible.

Today, at one past midnight, I have seen the latest Indiana Jones movie. Like many among you, I presume, I was a fan of that American raider travelling all over the world to look for treasures. A BIG warning : the latest Indy is absolutely AWFUL. This is the worst thing you can imagine. Actors are nuts, there are so many special effects even when Spielberg said he wouldn't use them, the screeplay is ridiculous. This is a nightmare, and I really encourage fans to boycott it. This is a shame, far away from the original Indiana Jones trilogy. Even...

LOS ANGELES --Cate Blanchett is in negotiations to star opposite Harrison Ford in the long-awaited fourth installment of the ”Indiana Jones” series, her publicist confirmed Saturday. ”She is in negotiations, yes,” publicist Lisa Kasteler told The Associated Press. She did not elaborate. Filming is scheduled to begin later this year, with Steven Spielberg on board to direct. The movie is being produced by ”Star Wars” creator George Lucas’ Lucasfilm Ltd. Ford played Indiana Jones in 1981’s ”Raiders of the Lost Ark,” 1984’s ”Temple of Doom” and 1989’s ”The Last Crusade.” Blanchett, who won a best supporting actress Oscar in 2004...

Director George Lucas says the fourth instalment in the Indiana Jones film series will start next year. Lucas said he and Steven Spielberg had recently finalised the script, and promised it was "the best one yet". Actor Harrison Ford will return as the titular star of the film, which is due to hit cinemas in May 2008. The original Indiana Jones trilogy was a tribute to Saturday morning B-movies, and made more than $1.1bn (£560m) at the box office in the 1980s. It began in 1981 with Raiders of the Lost Ark, in which archaeologist Jones raced around the world...

Imagine a 20th Century that still had religious inquisitions, a world where the medieval Catholic Church still controlled everything and everyone. Where people were still burned at the stake, no religious tolerance and a place where everyone feared for their lives. Welcome to the world of Rex Mundi. The first time that I heard about Rex Mundi was while working on the set of Tim Sullivans' Driftwood about a year ago. Famed Rock 'N' Roll KISS photographer turned movie producer Barry Levine mentioned that they were working with Johnny Depp on a film. Sworn to secrecy and under threats of...

<>...So the big news is that Lucas is now devoting himself full-time to writing and producing "Indiana Jones 4." Steven Spielberg, of course, will direct. Lucas told me that he's got a script now from Jeff Nathanson, and he's tweaking it. That won't go on forever, he assured me, and filming will occur before Harrison Ford goes into a nursing home.

"Raiders of the Lost Ark" is one of my all-time favorite movies, filled with mystery and adventure. It focuses on the search for a biblical artifact and treasure called The Ark of the Covenant. What makes the movie particularly exciting is how closely it mimics (with some added Hollywood flair) the real life hunt for the lost Ark. History has it that the original Ark was where God manifested His presence on earth beginning in the days of Moses. The Ark was designed as a chest made of acacia wood overlaid with gold. It had four golden rings. Each one...

An unnamed Kabbalist has granted blessing to famed archeologist Dr. Vendyl Jones to uncover the Holy Ark of the Covenant. Jones plans to excavate the Lost Ark by the Tisha B’Av Fast this summer. The famed archaeologist, the inspiration for the “Indiana Jones” movie series, has spent most of his life searching for the Ark of the Covenant. The ark was the resting place of the Ten Commandments, given to the Jewish people at Mount Sinai, and was hidden just before the destruction of the First Temple. The Talmud says the Ark is hidden in a secret passage under the...

Dr. Vendyl Jones, the inspiration for the “Indiana Jones” series, told Israel National Radio that he is sure he will uncover the hidden Ark of the Covenant before the Fast of Tisha B’Av this summer. The explorer and teacher, who published a book in 1959 predicting the Six Day War based on his analysis of the Jewish Exodus from Egypt up until the First Temple Period, says that employing the same biblical analysis to modern times points to major events that will “turn the world right side up” this coming June. Dr. Jones left his post as a Christian pastor...

Hollywood has joined the war. Universal Pictures announced yesterday that it is to make The Battle for Falluja. To prove it is serious, it has enlisted Indiana Jones himself, actor Harrison Ford, to help defeat the insurgency.

Harrison Ford is officially unhitched. The actor's divorce from his wife of 18 years, screenwriter Melissa Mathison Ford, became final this week. Papers filed Tuesday in Los Angeles Superior Court did not detail the divorce settlement or custody arrangement for the couple's teenage son and daughter. Television news magazines "Entertainment Tonight" and "Extra" both reported the filing Wednesday. The Fords, who met on the set of the 1979 film "Apocalypse Now," filed for a separation in August 2001 after living apart for nearly a year. They cited irreconcilable differences. Despite his legal status, the mega-movie star is hardly a...

September 22, 2003 issueCopyright © 2003 The American Conservative Indiana Jones & The Real World by Pat Buchanan “I’m very troubled … at the fact so many people in the United States carry guns. It obviously contributes greatly to the crime problems we have … gun laws should be strengthened.” So sayeth Indiana Jones, a.k.a. Harrison Ford, on location in Spain. And it is fair to say Ford’s view is that of our intellectual and cultural elite. But is it true? Is it really obvious that gun ownership and the carrying of concealed weapons by citizens “contributes greatly to...

An enraged commuter climbed onto the outside of a morning peak-hour train and hung on as it reached speeds of up to 60mph - because there was not enough room inside the carriage. The man held on to the back of the train for 20 minutes, while it went through two tunnels and four stations, in a move reminiscent of film action hero Indiana Jones. His frustration at the appalling state of the railways had finally boiled over when he arrived at his station to find the platforms jampacked and services delayed yet again. Ignoring his own safety, the commuter...
