The Justice Department determined that North Carolina’s bathroom policy -using the bathroom that matches your biological sex- is in violation of federal civil rights law. Reports speculate the feds might try to restrict funding to North Carolina or pursue legal action if they don’t change the policy, though the Justice Department hasn’t commented either way. North Carolina State House Speaker Tim Moore has made it clear, he will not be intimidated.

Less than a week after proclaiming to Indiana voters that he would vote for Ted Cruz in his state's primary — a tepid endorsement that featured high praise for Donald Trump — Indiana Gov. Mike Pence has made it official: He is all in for the presumptive Republican nominee. “I’m fully supportive of our presumptive nominee, and I do think Donald Trump will do well in the State of Indiana,” Pence told reporters, according to Indianapolis' Fox affiliate. “I’m going to campaign hard for the Republican nominee because Indiana needs a partner in the White House.”

Indiana has a new option for desperate mothers who cannot care for their newborn babies. Two Safe Haven Baby Boxes, sometimes called baby hatches, recently were installed in Indiana fire stations to receive abandoned infants in a safe, warm environment, according to The Daily Mail. The boxes have padding and climate control, and they alert authorities when a baby has been placed inside. Several European and Asian countries have been using them for years, but Indiana is the first state in the U.S. to initiate the project. A key leader behind the effort is Monica Kelsey, whose mother abandoned her...

If you listened much to Ted Cruz over these last furious months, you heard him talk frequently about “the abyss,” as in what this country was teetering on the edge of. If you listened to him over these last furious hours, you heard him mention the “yawning cavern of insecurity” that motivates Donald Trump and other bullies. Cruz should take up spelunking. He’s obviously fascinated by unfathomable depths, and with his loss in Indiana on Tuesday, his candidacy for the presidency is finished, giving him a whole lot of extra time. A new hobby is definitely in order.

But many senators left wiggle room to back away from Trump if necessary; Sen. Rob Portman (Ohio), who is in a tough reelection battle back home, said he intends to support the nominee "unless something crazy happens." And according to our March survey, at least 22 Republicans aren't sure or wouldn't say. Newly minted Indiana GOP nominee Todd Young hasn’t said anything we could find about whether he'd support Trump. Only one Republican senator — Sen. Ben Sasse (Neb.) — has said clearly that he won't be on Team Trump.

Bernie Sanders is the winner of the Democratic primary in Indiana, NBC News projects. But the outcome is all but certain not to knock Hillary Clinton's march to the Democratic nomination off course. Because Indiana Democrats allocate delegates proportionally, the close race between the two candidates ensures that Sanders will capture only a small net delegate gain, leaving him still well behind Clinton in the race for support.

Ted Cruz did the right and honorable thing by suspending his presidential campaign Tuesday night. John Kasich should follow suit. It’s time for the party to unite against Hillary Clinton. Donald Trump’s massive win Tuesday in Indiana confirmed the trends of the last two weeks: A majority of GOP voters have decided he’s their nominee. For any other candidate to keep fighting would only help Hillary...

Breaking news: Sen. Ted Cruz is withdrawing from the Republican presidential primary, effectively ceding the GOP nomination to businessman and reality-TV star Donald Trump. Cruz’s campaign made that announcement in Indianapolis, after a crushing loss to Trump in the Indiana primary. Cruz had already been mathematically eliminated in the GOP race, but had remained in the hope that Trump could be denied a majority of delegates, and Cruz could win the nomination in a contested convention.

INDIANAPOLIS — Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz is ending his campaign after suffering a devastating loss to frontrunner Donald Trump in the Indiana primary, campaign manager Jeff Roe told the Texas Tribune. With about 43 percent of the vote in, Trump was projected to beat Cruz by about 2o points, 54 percent to 35 percent. Ohio Gov. John Kasich, who had struck a deal with Cruz to effectively concede the Hoosier State, was winning less than 10 percent of the vote. Trump was on track to win most — if not all — of Indiana's 57 delegates, significantly easing his...

The current real numbers are just fine, Trump was expected to win New York, optimistic news I had received not with standing. Yes Trump got 90 delegates. Yes he did well. Yes Kasich got 5 delegates, his first in how long? Yes yes and yes. And No I am not even bothered. Real Numbers: Cruz 696 Delegates to Trumps 815 Delegates Trump needs to get 422 delegates, out of that list. He loses Montana in full, the 54 in Pennsylvania are gone, Oregon is a wipe for him (he gets 3-6), Washington is already soured to him (maybe 4-6 there),...
