NEW YORK – Fireworks burst into the night sky above New York with a kaleidoscope of colors shooting 1,000 feet into the air on an Independence Day that began with the Statue of Liberty's crown opening to the public for the first time since Sept. 11, 2001. The Jefferson Area Tea Party is rallying against Fifth District Congressman Tom Perriello. Thursday afternoon, the group held a protest at Perriello's office on Second Street in Charlottesville. They are upset with Perriello's support of the American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009. The group says the bill, which still being debated by the Senate, is an energy tax. Those people who support the initiative say it reduces the amount of carbon that electric utilities, oil refiners, and certain industries can emit. Perriello voted for the so-called "cap and trade bill", which passed the House 219 to 212.

About 250 people gathered on the steps of the State Capitol at noon Saturday to celebrate the “Nationwide Independence Day Tea Party,” a protest rally being held around the country. Organizers handed out pocket copies of the Constitution. Speakers criticized President Obama’s economic policies and what they see as the far left’s goal to increase the size of government, along with their taxes. One man’s sign — “Liberty Over Tyranny” — won a vote of applause as the crowd’s favorite. In April, the same “tea-party” group had gathered at the Capitol with the same message.

With Gov. Ed Rendell’s proposed budget stalemated in the Pennsylvania General Assembly, 600 unhappy taxpayers rallied in Chambersburg’s center square Saturday to declare their independence from looming tax increases. Likening their protest to that of a group of Boston patriots in 1776, Franklin County, Pa., joined in the nationwide TEA (Taxed Enough Already) Party movement against taxation and government spending.

DALLAS - Celebrating Independence Day for one group means voicing their frustration with the government. Today Fort Payne had a nice gathering of concerned citizens come together in heart and mind in defense of America and it's citizens. A wonderful group of locals spoke from about noon to 2pm at the city park (formally known as Union Park). Fort Payne with a population of about 12,000 put together a nice T.E.A. party and had 200 (+/- 50) people attend. It was a pleasant day with a nice breeze to help with the low 90's temperature.

About 300 - 400 patriots turned out for the Indiana, Pa. Tea Party in front of the Indiana County Courthouse. Not a bad turnout for a little-advertised event in a small town! There were Republicans, Democrats and Independents present. We had one disruptor carrying an "obama" sign who said his parents were going to lose their house and Obama took care of it for them. Just wait until "obamacare" throws them under the bus! He was yelling "obama! Obama!". We yelled "USA! USA!" Had a good turnout for the ultimate backwoods teaparty. It's raining right now in Indy and we had our teaparty/gun shoot yesterday. We knew it would be raining today so we had our event yesterday. Albuquerque Tea Party was due to start at 4 pm and run until 6. By 2 pm we had lots of people there signing petitions, filling out postcards and 'notices of termination' to their elected officials and waving homemade signs! More than 15,000 people from Bakersfield to Modesto gathered at the International Agri-Center Saturday for the Freedom Rally Tea Party Saturday.
