An illegal alien suspected of causing a traffic accident and killing movie director Bob Clark, whose "A Christmas Story" has come alongside "It's a Wonderful Life" and "Miracle on 34th Street" as a perennial holiday must-watch, has been placed under an immigration hold by federal authorities. The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency placed the hold on Hector Velazquez-Nava, 24, a Mexican national who was living in Los Angeles as an illegal immigrant, according to a report from Americans for Legal Immigration Political Action Committee. Agency spokeswoman Virginia Kice said the hold means Valezquez-Nava, when his Los Angeles court proceedings...

The Department of Health and Human Services has notified Congress that November has seen a huge number of undocumented youths crossing into the United States, up 269 percent over last November. And it is warning that it is getting close to running out of beds to house the immigrants. Some 5,200 arrived in November, more than twice the 2014 surge. That year, 1,927 crossed over, and that was down from 3,320 in 2013. HHS' Office of Refugee Resettlement houses the youths with the Administration for Children and Families. An email from HHS provided to Secrets said, "Based on twenty-four days...

The inaccurate term, first noted by Campus Reform, is promoted by the school's "Inclusive Language Campaign," which is throwing up posters around campus to encourage the use of friendlier language.

The Pentagon broke the law when it swapped five Taliban leaders for Bowe Bergdahl earlier this year, an independent government watchdog agency said on Thursday. ~snip~ The swap cost the White House $988,400, none of which was intended to pay for the prisoner trade. The costs covered Bergdahl’s pick up in Afghanistan and the transfer of five Taliban leaders from Guantanamo Bay, Cuba to Qatar, where they will stay for the remainder of the year.

Immigration is once again threatening to jam up congressional action, this time on tax legislation. Conservatives' concerns about benefits flowing to illegal immigrants are a major sticking point in negotiations over the package of tax breaks known as "extenders." Congressional negotiators last week were working toward a deal to reauthorize, and in some cases expand or make permanent, a grab bag of dozens of expired and expiring tax provisions worth almost $1 trillion on a 10-year basis. Most of the tax provisions affect businesses, but President Obama and congressional Democrats have long insisted that tax breaks for low and middle-income...

Sen. Ted Cruz on Tuesday night politely complimented GOP presidential rival Sen. Marco Rubio as a "charming" communicator, and then he laid into him as wrong on national security, weak on immigration and a shill for corporate lobbyists. "If you look at Sen. Rubio's record - he's someone who I like personally, he's a friend of mine," Cruz (Texas) said on Fox News's "Hannity." "He's a very, very charming and effective communicator. But if you look at his policy record, there's a big difference between his record and mine." Cruz then launched into a broadside against Rubio, most notably in...

Thanks to Obama’s open border policies there are now hundreds of thousands of cases of Chagas Disease in the United States today. Chagas disease also known as American trypanosomiasis, is a potentially life-threatening illness caused by the protozoan parasite Trypanosoma cruzi (T. cruzi). It is found mainly in endemic areas of 21 Latin American countries. The disease is transmitted to humans by contact with feces of triatomine bugs, known as ‘kissing bugs.’ Chagas disease is spread by the Kissing Bug in Latin American countries. Chagas often leads to a fatal condition known as Chagasic cardiomyopathy. The National School for Tropical...

A group of illegal immigrants is suing the state of Oregon to overturn a voter-approved initiative that denied them driver's licenses. The lawsuit, brought by five illegal immigrants, comes after Oregonians passed Measure 88 last year with a strong two-thirds majority. Thirty-five of Oregon's 36 counties voted against licenses for undocumented residents, as did every congressional district in the state, most of which are represented by Democrats. But the lawsuit alleges Measure 88 is unconstitutional because it "arbitrarily" denies driving privileges based on membership in a "disfavored minority group." It alleges Oregon voters were motivated by "animus toward persons from...

On Friday, the U.S. Justice Department filed a 35-page petition asking the U.S. Supreme Court to review Texas v. U.S., the case filed by 26 states against President Obama's immigration amnesty plan. The government is appealing a preliminary injunction that stopped implementation of Obama's amnesty plan, which was issued by a federal district court and upheld by the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals on Nov. 9. In an odd coincidence, Donald Verrilli, the solicitor general, filed the petition on the one-year anniversary of Obama's speech to the nation on Nov. 20, 2014, where he announced his unprecedented, unilateral action to...

The Obama administration on Wednesday reminded state officials across the country that states do not have legal authority to refuse to accept Syrian refugees, reports The Associated Press (AP). The reminder from the White House came amid a growing controversy over the plan to accept Syrian refugees, in the wake of the discovery of a Syrian passport near the body of one assailant in the Paris attacks. No less than 24 states announced earlier this week they would block the program to resettle Syrian migrants within their borders, though White House officials defended the current refugee program. Later, the House...

NEW YORK (WABC) - It's one of the hottest toys out there, and you can expect "hoverboards" to be filling Santa's sleigh this Christmas. But there is concern over the legality of the self-balancing scooters in New York City. And it turns out that when you're riding one of these "hoverboards," you need to be on the lookout of course for traffic and bumps in the road, but also for police. People walking the city streets have probably bumped into or passed by someone trying to maneuver themselves on the handlebar-less motorized devices, and the Department of Transportation is cracking...

The total number of people returned and deported during the Clinton administration is over 10 million people, nearly the same number of illegal aliens we have in this country according to our government. Nobody calls Clinton inhumane. In the year 2000 alone 1.86 million people were either returned by the border patrol or deported through legal proceeding, yet nobody cried foul. Let’s look at Obama administration, the most lenient administration as far as illegal immigration is concerned. Every year Obama deports about 350,000 people. By the end of his term Obama will deport nearly 3 million people, yet nobody calls...

More than two-thirds of American voters say Hillary Clinton’s controversial email practices as secretary of state were either illegal or unethical, according to a new McClatchy-Marist poll. A total of 28 percent said Hillary’s exclusive use of a secret private server to conduct government business was illegal, while 40 percent said the arrangement was unethical, a position shared by 40 percent of Democratic voters. Only 27 percent of voters said they thought Clinton did nothing wrong, including a surprisingly low 49 percent of Democrats. The results are in line with previous polls suggesting that voters simply do not trust Hillary...
