  • The New Blacklist

I’m sorry to arrive late to this controversy — explanation forthcoming in a later posting — but my impression is that the word “blacklist” has not been mentioned much in the debate over the Robertson family, GLAAD, and the A&E channel. Or if it has been mentioned, it certainly hasn’t had the central role that it should have had in this row. For what GLAAD has been operating is a classic blacklist operation. Its object is not to persuade those who disagree with it over the morality of same-sex relationships to change their minds. Nor is it principally intended to...

Governor Sarah Palin, on Saturday, November 9, 2013, compared the ever increasing national debt to slavery. Palin said: Our free stuff today is being paid for by taking money from our children and borrowing from China. When that money comes due - and this isn't racist, but it'll be like slavery when that note is due. We are going to beholden to the foreign master. What she said about the mounting national debt being a form of slavery is true, that the bill for all the borrowing will come due, that our children will have to do what foreign masters...

These Dems have to balance their loyalty to the president—and his desire to halt the Islamic Republic's nuclear program—with their discomfort over a deal. It's been a tough year for Israel's most loyal supporters in the U.S. It began with a messy confirmation process for Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel, a nominee whom pro-Israeli groups viewed with concern. Over the summer, President Obama leaned on those groups, most notably the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, to lobby for his proposal authorizing military intervention in Syria, only to abandon the push at the last minute. And, most recently, pro-Israel organizations have been...

On Thursday, Don Imus, whom MSNBC fired in 2007 after he referred to the Rutgers women's basketball team as "nappy headed hos" on the network, said he could not believe MSNBC President Phil Griffin is going to keep Martin Bashir on the air after he suggested someone should urinate or defecate in former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin's mouth.

Senate Democrats bowled over Republicans on Thursday to win approval for a highly controversial rule change which would limit the GOP's ability to block nominees. Majority Leader Harry Reid, moving quickly following days of speculation, used the so-called "nuclear option" to pass the change. Typically, major changes like this take 67 votes, but he did it with just a simple majority. With Republicans fuming, the change weakens the power of the minority to stall nominations for top positions. Instead of needing 60 votes to break a filibuster, the change means Democrats will now need just 51.

In the months leading up to the 2012 presidential election, Silicon Valley was squarely in President Obama's corner. Google's executive chairman coached Obama's campaign team; executives from Craigslist, Napster, and Linkedin helped him fundraise; and when the dust settled, Obama had won nine counties in the liberal and tech-heavy Bay Area, scoring 84 percent of the vote in San Francisco. But a little over a year later, following explosive allegations from former NSA contractor Edward Snowden that the government is exploiting tech companies to spy on Americans, some members of Silicon Valley are taking a new perspective: "F--- these guys."

Senator Elizabeth Warren got on the Senate floor on Wednesday to charge that her Republican colleagues are still so bitter about the election results last year, they are doing everything within their power to “nullify” the results of that election by fighting President Obama at every turn, including filibustering Cabinet and judicial nominees. Warren reminded Republican senators that they may hate the policies Obama’s pushed for, but he ran for reelection on them and won handily. Warren called them out in particular for blocking Obama’s nominees to fill the vacancies on the D.C. Circuit Court, explaining that this is a...

I found this meme while surfing around online, and I'm curious if anyone wants to offer up their take. The term "feminist" is one that is so polarizing it tends to cut right down the left-right divide, but this one has me wondering. The rationale of people who defend the message this woman presents is that a woman isn't actually saying "yes" in certain instances, such as while under the influence of alcohol...Ok...This logic reminds me of a quote from British author Paul Johnson (from his book Enemies of Socieity), emphasis is mine... (I)t is essential to use words accurately and...

Citing the Heath and Human Services website, a report posted Wednesday at the Freedom Outpost says that under Obamacare, government agents can engage in "home health visits" for those in certain “high-risk” categories. Those categories include: • Families where mom is not yet 21; • Families where someone is a tobacco user; • Families where children have low student achievement, developmental delays, or disabilities, and • Families with individuals who are serving or formerly served in the armed forces, including such families that have members of the armed forces who have had multiple deployments outside the United States.

We all know how liberals hate it when we disagree with them. That's a give fact, well-documented in its truth. If you doubt that, try debating one of them. More often than not, that debate will descend into name calling and threats. Liberals simply hate it when they are proven to be wrong, or when someone has the audacity to disagree with their progressive point of view. We are finding that to be more true than ever after the government shutdown. I know many conservatives disagreed with Senators Ted Cruz and Mike Lee and how they went about trying to...

A website called DeadBeatLink has published the home address, phone numbers (some are redacted) and full dates of birth of local news reporters and anchors from Palm Beach County... On a page titled “Why the Reporter List“, the site’s owner says journalists are targeted because they “ignore select political figures in Palm Beach and Broward County, turning their heads while their agencies run rampant with corruption” and because they “cover up things in their own industry; if a member of the media commits rape, they are dismissed quietly and it is ignored by the rest of the media, deemed not...

As two dramas about the conflict vie for attention at TIFF, normally outspoken actors and filmmakers on hand for the fest remain conspicuously mum on the subject. The conflict in Syria and the increasing likelihood of Western involvement is occupying hearts and minds at this year’s festival. Still, when it comes to Hollywood voices publicly weighing in on the debate over U.S. intervention in the territory, the silence has been deafening. A number of high-profile Hollywood names on hand for the festival, who’ve been outspoken in the past on U.S. military intervention, have been uncharacteristically quiet on the issue. THR...

A new anti-war ad by the left-wing advocacy group MoveOn.org highlights a growing foreign policy divide between President Barack Obama and the larger progressive movement that has long supported him. “We never set out to spend eight years at war in Iraq… Or to be mired down for more than a decade of fighting in Afghanistan… So what should America expect if we rush into Syria alone, with no real plan for the consequences?,” says the video’s narrator. “We already know: It gets worse,” the narrator continues. “Congress: The majority of Americans OPPOSE missile strikes in Syria.” The video is...

As Obama et al. shove us into a senseless conflict that could easily escalate into WWIII, let’s give a listen to righteous voices from Tinseltown: “But I am equally against the death penalty or war — anywhere people are sacrificed for some end justifying a means.” — Martin Sheen “I also think that there is a strong streak of racism, and whenever we engage in foreign adventures. Our whole history in regime change has been of people of different color.” — Ed Asner “I think we’re past that point in human evolution where there’s such a thing as winning wars.”...

The nation will soon know whether or not President Obama will authorize a strike on Syrian military forces. What he will tell us on Tuesday evening, few can factually predict. But if the outcome of his deliberative process does not pose his favored verdict, no one would be surprised if he just did as he originally wished to begin with. But even that is truly a mystery. After all, chemical weapons attacks have been occurring in Syria since March, and it’s only now that we must make some sort of demonstrable stand so that future rogues don't think we're sissies...

Our government is yet again marching us towards a war of choice in the Middle East and our non-partisan, peace-loving celebrities have gone missing since late 2008. We fear the worst. 1. Sheryl Crow LAST KNOWN PRE-2009 COMMUNICATION: “I think war is based in greed and there are huge karmic retributions that will follow. I think war is never the answer to solving any problems. The best way to solve problems is to not have enemies.” — Sheryl Crow 2. Bruce Springsteen LAST KNOWN PRE-2009 COMMUNICATION: “War. What is it good for? Absolutely nothing.” — Bruce Springsteen

Dateline Hollywood - In a carefully worded press release today in Hollywood, California, space aliens admitted that they abducted several Hollywood celebrities on January 21st of this year. Among the missing are the following, whose only appearances in public since January 21 have apparently been holograms: Sheryl Crow, Bruce Springsteen, Martin Sheen, Ed Asner, Sean Penn, Tim Robbins, George Clooney, Jackson Browne, Janeane Garofalo, Neil Young, Jessica Lange, Barbra Streisand, Danny Glover, and Susan Sarandon. While many have wondered during the last several days why there has been no outcry of anti-war sentiment from these previously very vocal crusaders for...

In 2007, then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi led a congressional visit to Damascus, where she met with Syrian President Bashar Assad. "We came in friendship, hope, and determined that the road to Damascus is a road to peace," Pelosi famously proclaimed. She met with Assad in defiance of then-President George W. Bush and his efforts to isolate Syria for its role as a "state sponsor of terror." Now Pelosi supports the use of military force against Damascus. I asked Pelosi as she visited the high-tech firm Square in San Francisco on Wednesday: What changed since her famous proclamation? "Since then, this...
