CORONADO, Calif. (AP) — Republican presidential prospect Ben Carson on Thursday compared the Islamic State group to American patriots willing to die for freedom. In a speech to the Republican National Committee's winter meeting outside San Diego, the former neurosurgeon and conservative favorite praised American patriots for their willingness to give their lives for their beliefs. Then he mentioned the Islamic State group. "They got the wrong philosophy, but they're willing to die for what they believe, while we are busily giving away every belief and every value for the sake of political correctness," he said as Republican officials from...

So a priest, an imam and a rabbi walk into a bar. The bartender says, “What’s this? A joke?” Yes, and it’s funny, so accustomed are we to religious humor and wit that pokes fun at humanity and the powerful who govern it. Though humor is in the eye of the beholder, its historic purpose is to induce us to Think Again. Truth-telling with laughter — whether by medieval court jesters, cartoonists, humorists such as Mark Twain, Charlie Chaplin impersonating Hitler in “The Great Dictator,” comedy troupes such as Monty Python or sitcom actors such as Archie Bunker — pushes...

Maybe they just really love their K9 officers. A Florida sheriff's office upgraded its headquarters' rugs with the bold proclamation, "In Dog We Trust." The mats, which feature the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office seal, should have read, "In God We Trust."

Why does CNN refer to him as "The Prophet Muhammad?" Is he their prophet? No. Do they refer to Joseph Smith as "The Prophet Joseph Smith?" No. Do they refer to Jesus as "The Savior Jesus Christ?" No. Do they refer to Moses as "The Lawgiver Moses?" No. So why do they always refer to Muhammad as "The Prophet Muhammad?"

Legendary Cartoonist Robert Crumb on the Massacre in ParisThe ex-pat artist, who has lived in France for 25 years, talks to the Observer about his new cartoon of Muhammed Robert Crumb is considered by many to be the single best cartoonist America has ever produced. The creator of counter culture icons like Fritz the Cat, the Keep On Truckin guy and Mr Natural, Mr. Crumb was inducted into the comic book Hall of Fame in 1991, the same year he moved his family to France, where he has resided ever since. Writer Celia Farber reached him at his home on...

CNN announced this week that their policy is not to show images of Muhammad, the prophet of Islam, that may potentially be offensive. The editorial decision followed the outlets decision not to show the now-famous Charlie Hebdo cartoons. However, as of Tuesday morning CNN’s website still displayed pictures of crucified Jesus in a jar of human urine.

Shortly after Election Day in 2012, a Mitt Romney supporter moaned to POLITICO about the failed GOP nominee’s performance: “We had no message, and we gave it to the worst communicator in the world.” Two years later, Romney is mulling over another campaign for the White House, and this time, he says, things will be different. In meetings with and individual calls to donors, supporters and former staffers, Romney is making it clear that he is likely to run, putting his time frame for a decision at “weeks, not months.” Romney, who made a fortune in the financial sector and...

Full size image below. It is not necessary for me to recount for you the events in Paris, the controversy that led up to them, or the consequences in the last week. This you already know. The whole world knows. It is enough to say that, in the name of Islam, terrorists murdered. In response to satire, terrorists, attacked. In the presence of free speech, terror tried to silence. As the millions marching in Paris and other cities around the world yesterday attest, the free nations of this earth are not prepared to give up their freedom. Not just yet.

Paris (AFP) - French prosecutors said Monday they were investigating notorious comedian Dieudonne for "inciting terrorism" with his Facebook comment [...] "Tonight, as far as I'm concerned, I feel like Charlie Coulibaly", the comedian wrote, playing the expression "Je suis Charlie" ("I am Charlie") off a reference to Friday's kosher supermarket attacker Amedy Coulibaly. "Je suis Charlie" was adopted as the rallying cry following shootings at satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo in which 12 people died. Coulibaly killed four hostages in the kosher supermarket seige, after murdering a police officer Thursday. [...] The comedian made his controversial Facebook post after attending...

Separate headline: Shintophoabia on the Rise. I often wonder how today's MSM would cover events from our history.

THE PENTAGON — A new gender integration study set to be released this week found that nearly 96 percent of infantrymen in the Army and Marine Corps would be “very excited” to have women integrated into their units, especially during combat deployments, Duffel Blog has learned. “Naturally there were some patterns we saw after issuing the surveys,” Maj. Rodrick Hamill, a spokesman for the Pentagon, told reporters. “Almost all soldiers who described themselves as ‘pro female’ insisted that the women inducted be in top physical condition, and disease-free.”

On September 30, 2005 a newspaper in Denmark Jyllands-Posten published an article under the headline, "The face of Muhammad" – an article that included 12 cartoons of the prophet. After the cartoons were published there were riots in many cities around the world. On February 7, 2006, the New York Times ran an editorial, explaining why the newspaper of record would not show its readers the cartoons. "The New York Times and much of the rest of the nation's news media have reported on the cartoons but refrained from showing them. That seems as reasonable choice for news organizations that...

Legal eagle Alan Dershowitz is not taking the accusation that he bedded a teenage sex slave lying down. The former Harvard Law School professor has filed a sworn statement in Miami federal court "to protect his reputation" against what he calls "outrageously false" and "contemptible" allegations. Dershowitz also vowed to file disciplinary complaints against the attorneys representing his accuser, who has been identified as 30-year-old Virginia Roberts. But before Dershowitz could, the lawyers — Paul Cassell and Bradley Edwards — sued him for defamation.

House Speaker John Boehner (R., Ohio) was reelected to his post as leader of the Republican conference, but the rebellion was stronger than expected. Boehner received 215 votes, of 408 votes cast. He needed 205 to win the speakership. Twenty-four Republicans voted for alternatives, with a 25th lawmaker voting present. Half of those ‘no’ votes went to Representative Daniel Webster (R., Fla.), who was backed by Representative Steve King (R., Iowa.) King was one of the ringleaders of the rebellion. The race was closer than the 215-24 result suggests. If 35 Republicans had voted against Boehner, he would not have...

One council member in Maryland not only didn’t want to comment on a story, but he also doesn’t want his name in any news articles about him. The issue stems from an article Frederick News-Post reporter Bethany Rodgers wrote about concerns Kirby Delauter, a Frederick County Councilman, and fellow Councilman Billy Shreve had over County Council parking spaces. Delauter declined to comment for the article, which isn’t out of the ordinary for a public official. But what he did next, is. “Shame on Bethany Rodgers for unauthorized use of my name and my reference in her article today,” Delauter posted...

HERZLIYA, Israel (AP) - Israeli traffic this weekend was really for the birds. In the central Israeli town of Herzliya near Tel Aviv, an escaped emu ran through traffic Sunday on a main road between cars in the rain. Local authorities say the bird escaped from a private farm. Passer-by Iliya Zelser filmed the bird's run. He says the experience made him feel like he was in a cartoon. Zelser says he expected to hear the "beep beep" of the cartoon Road Runner. The 27 year old told The Associated Press: "I said to myself in a second, a coyote...

NATIONAL REVIEW ONLINE JANUARY 4, 2015 The Unspectacular NOW! For feminists and gun-grabbers, an infantile rallying cry By Kevin D. Williamson Time is running out to do something stupid and irreversible. Act now! “Now,” especially when followed by an exclamation point, or written in all capital letters, or both — Now! — is the least conservative word in the English language. “We must act now,” proclaims a gentleman bearing the appropriately apocalyptic name of “Flood” in the letters section of the Times-Argus of Vermont. The subject is global warming: “It is unjust and immoral for us to leave a damaged...

A Long Island Tea Party member is getting the last laugh after being awarded 1.12 million dollars in compensatory damages. Nancy Genovese, 58, a mother of three, was arrested in 2009 for attempting to photograph a helicopter at an Air National Guard base in the Hamptons. She claimed that she was only arrested during the incident because she belonged to the Tea Party. She intended to use the photo on a “Support the Troops” website; she was arrested for trespass and insulted as a “Teabagger.”
