Whenever President Obama feels defensive, he likes to talk about how the world has become more safe under his watch (with the implication that it's due to his own wise leadership). We first heard him speak that way during the summer of 2014, when the world seemed to be unraveling and critics were blaming him for the sad state of affairs. Obama said, "The world is less violent than it has ever been. It is healthier than it has ever been. It is more tolerant than it has ever been. It is better fed then it’s ever been. It is...

Ted Cruz showed up Wednesday for a CNN town hall—or what Gawker frames as "another glimpse into the waking hell that is Heidi Cruz’s daily life"—with his wife and two young daughters in tow, and Heidi offered up a personal, if bizarre, nugget of life with the GOP presidential candidate. She dished on what her husband did right after they got back from their honeymoon: bought 100 cans of Campbell's Chunky soup. "I never bought 100 of anything," she told moderator Anderson Cooper. "This was shocking to me, so we had a tough conversation about it. I said, "You don't...

Ted Cruz’s star spokesman and campaign partner, Glenn Beck, promises he will support a socialist vs. the pro-life, pro-2nd amendment, pro-growth, pro-American GOP front runner… what’s conservative about that?…http://www.thegatewaypundit.com/…/wow-glenn-beck-i-prefer-…/ Beck would have chosen Hillary Clinton over the GOP nominee and evidently thinks Barack Obama is a pretty swell guy as President… what’s judicious about that?… http://theconservativetreehouse.com/…/must-watch-glenn-bec…/ Beck proclaims his hatred for the American victims of 9/11 – the innocent VICTIMS, mind you, not the evil terrorists.. what’s honorable about that?..https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hf33g9ep4YU Beck joins Cruz in inviting more illegals to break America’s laws as the two link arms to greet illegal immigrants...

In an essay to mark International Holocaust Remembrance Day, Anne Frank's stepsister accused Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump of "acting like another Hitler." Eva Schloss, now 86, was a friend of Frank's in Amsterdam after their families fled Nazi Germany in the 1930s. Her mother, Fritzi, would marry Otto Frank, Anne's father, after World War II. "If Donald Trump become(s) the next president of the U.S. it would be a complete disaster," she told Newsweek on Wednesday. "I think he is acting like another Hitler by inciting racism." The Trump campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment....

The FBI has seized nine White House computer servers as part of its probe into how classified information was compromised on State Department email system, according to people familiar with the investigation. Additionally six servers, which were located at the NSA Fort Mead headquarters building, were seized. They are being checked by technical analysts charged with determining how all communications to and from the state department were being routed via homeline parallel Soviet, and Clinton Foundation pathways as standard procedure, even prior to 2009 to 2013, said two people familiar with the probe. The people spoke on condition of anonymity....

On October 13, 2015 the Iranian Majlis approved, by a majority of 161-59 with 13 abstentions, not the JCPOA but rather an Iranian amended version it. Paragraph 3 of the Majlis decision states that "the government will monitor any non-performance by the other party [to the agreement] in the matter of failing to lift the sanctions, or restoring the canceled sanctions, or imposing sanctions for any another reason, and will take steps to actualize the rights of the Iranian nation and to terminate the voluntary cooperation [this apparently refers to the Additional Protocol, which, according to the JCPOA, Iran will...

Since before the Synod, there were doubts about a specific post-synodal papal exhortation, but there were never any doubts that there would be a final Relatio voted by the Assembly. Not anymore! The votes must be in doubt on the side of the manipulators, because since Cardinal Tagle first mentioned the possibility that there might be no final document at all in yesterday's press conference, that has been the general talk. Plus, there is complete disarray in the order of works. While Cardinal Erdo, formally the Relator-General, should be presenting his reports on the second and third parts of the...

Ok. Keep you friends clues, your enemies closer. That said, who's this babe that filled in for Megyn Kelly tonight? She's absolutely unhinged about McCarthy's withdrawal. She had Frank Luntz on who was equally unhinged. Evidently we all just want Washington to get along according to Luntz' all-knowing focus groups. Big smack-down to conservative obstructionists. I understand the Fox difference between hard news and opinion, but this one was off the charts. Especially for a fill-in.

This all sounds lovely in theory and if we lived in a perfect world it would probably be the ideal course of action. As Glenn correctly notes, we most often hear about impeachment when it comes to the President or possibly Supreme Court Justices, but the process can apply to any “civil officer of the United States” which includes the members of the cabinet as well as other department heads.

A writer over at The Washington Post has a bold new proposal he believes can heal the American racial divide: empower blacks by making their votes count more than those of other races.“Racial reconciliation is impossible without some kind of broad-based, systemic reparations,” writes Theodore R. Johnson, a former White House fellow and current Ph.D candidate in law and policy at Northeastern University. “But if a pecuniary answer can’t fix the structural disadvantage — and it can’t — what can?”The answer, Johnson argues, is simple: weighted voting, where black votes count for more than white ones. Specifically, Johnson suggests giving...

...Unfortunately, the NRA has been working for years to make sure lunatics and felons can obtain guns as easily as possible... Then the NRA worked to weaken old rules barring the mentally ill from owning guns. In the past, because of concerns that an unbalanced person could relapse after treatment, the rules provided that anyone prohibited from having a gun for psychological reasons was banned forever. No more: Now a person committed to a mental hospital can, after getting out, petition a court for his guns. And by lobbying state legislatures, the NRA made sure psychiatric experts play a puny...

Delaware mom is taking issue with Target's new ads for its Annie-inspired clothing line. According to Yahoo! Parenting, L'Sean Rinique Shelton was faced with some difficult questions after her 8-year-old biracial daughter saw an ad featuring a young white model wearing Annie's signature red dress. "She saw the ad and said to me, 'That's not what Annie looks like. How come the new black Annie isn't good enough? Does that mean I'm not good enough?'" Shelton told Yahoo! Parenting.

The National Rifle Association has utterly defeated the "gun safety" movement, throttling it at the only moment in a decade when it seemed to have won back the public. It has gotten expanded gun-rights laws through Republican legislatures with the ease of LeBron James sinking a three-pointer. So as Charles Cooke reports, in a dispatch from the annual NRA conference, the organization has returned to its long status quo of psyching up members by embracing more of the GOP's culture war issues.
