A porn star, a mob daughter, music moguls, actors and thousands of Howard Stern loyalists are expected to gather today to give the self-proclaimed "King of All Media" an all-out radio send off. This morning, Stern says farewell to WXRK Radio (92.3 FM), his home for 20 years. It's his last show on broadcast radio before starting at Sirius Satellite Radio on Jan. 9. "I know terrestrial radio is dead," Stern told the Daily News recently. "If satellite radio takes off, and that's an if, and I think it will, there will be 30 million people subscribing by 2010. And...

Howard Stern has crowed for months about how he'll get as filthy as humanly possible when he jumps to censorship-free Sirius Satellite Radio next month — and now he's revealing for the first time, in a New York magazine interview, just how X-rated his new show will be. In an expletive-filled interview that hits newsstands Monday, the sex-obsessed shock jock tells of five new jaw-dropping features that are sure to push the boundaries of bad taste. ... "Wouldn't it be brilliant if my audience could all lie down at night together and [achieve orgasm] together?" he asks. To that end,...

NEW YORK -- Shock jock Howard Stern was suspended Monday from his syndicated show for a day after heavily promoting his move to satellite radio. Stern spokesman Matt Traub confirmed the suspension from the syndicated show in more than 20 Infinity Broadcasting Corp. markets. It was first reported on the Howard 100 channel carried by Sirius Satellite Radio Inc., where Stern is moving his show next year. "Howard will not be on the air tomorrow. We expect him back on Wednesday," said Infinity spokeswoman Karen Mateo.

NEW YORK (AP) -- Goodbye, Howard Stern. Hello, David Lee Roth. And Adam Carolla. And CNN Radio News. And Jack-FM. And ... Infinity Broadcasting Corp., finally revealing its plans to replace the self-proclaimed "King of All Media," announced a new morning drive time lineup Tuesday of assorted hosts for its 27 soon-to-be former Stern stations. Rather than turning to a single replacement, Infinity offered a variety of names for different markets. The biggest belonged to ex-Van Halen front man Roth and comedian Carolla. Roth, who appeared Tuesday morning on Stern's nationally syndicated show to announced the move, will start in...

In the middle of a Tuesday conference call announcing Infinity Broadcasting's plans to replace Howard Stern, a familiar voice appeared: Beetlejuice, the diminutive, snaggle-toothed fixture from the shock jock's nationally syndicated morning show. He was quickly cut off, leaving Infinity Broadcasting Corp.'s chairman and CEO Joel Hollander to explain how the prank only demonstrated the significance of the company's plans for a post-Stern existence _ a radio world where rocker David Lee Roth and comedian Adam Carolla will take over 12 of Stern's 27 Infinity markets. "I'm glad Howard thinks this call is important enough to put on Beetlejuice," Hollander...

Howard Stern’s year-long commercial for Sirius Satellite Radio, and continuous rant against traditional radio and the FCC, may be costing him a few of his 6.5 million weekly listeners. Or, it may be that the 50 plus-year-old graying shock jock’s schtick needs to take a new turn. For whatever reason, since Stern announced a year ago he was leaving traditional radio for an irresistable $500 million, five-year contract with Sirius, his ratings on the whole have slid in nearly every one of his major markets, according to Arbitron ratings for Stern in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, San Francisco,...

NEW YORK - They fade in and out like stations along the radio dial, some with more frequency than others: the reputed replacements for departing shock jock Howard Stern. There's David Lee Roth and Adam Carolla, Jon Stewart and Geraldo Rivera, Whoopi Goldberg and Danny Bonaduce. One or more could fill Stern's vacant morning drive-time seat in January, when the radio icon surrenders his syndicated kingdom for Sirius Satellite Radio. But it's time to face the truth, for better or worse: terrestrial radio may never see another Howard Stern. "He is irreplaceable," said Michael Harrison, founder of the trade publication...

Howard Stern could be forced off the air before his contract expires Dec. 31. The Cherry Hill-based radio-trade publication Friday Morning Quarterback reported tonight that the Federal Communications Commission is investigating a February radio broadcast by Stern in which allegedly indecent material was aired. If the FCC sanctions Viacom Inc. Infinity Broadcasting -- which syndicates the show to more than three dozen stations, including Philadelphia WYSP-FM (94.1) -- the controversial host could be suspended pending an investigation. Stern is due to move next year to Sirius Satellite Radio, which is free of FCC policing. Under a consent decree Infinity signed...

Listeners are poised to flee terrestrial stations that currently air Howard Stern, once the high-profile morning jock heads to Sirius Satellite in January 2006. That’s the word, according to a new study by Bridge Ratings. A mere 5% of current Howard Stern listeners said that they intend to stick with their current Stern outlet; 41% listen only because of Stern and intend to seek other radio stations for their morning listening. “It’s clear by this study and it is no surprise that Stern’s fans do not intend to stick around once he leaves his current station address,” said Bridge Ratings...

"Loveline" host Adam Carolla will take the morning slot in L.A., while ex-rocker David Lee Roth will take New York.Howard Stern, who is literally counting the days before he leaves terrestrial radio for satellite, pumped up the volume on widely circulating replacement rumors by revealing on the air Monday that comedian Adam Carolla and ex-rocker David Lee Roth will take over his popular morning time slot, at least in the Los Angeles and New York markets respectively. If true, the personnel moves by Infinity Broadcasting — whose contract with Stern expires at the end of the year — suggest that...

I've made up my mind. I don't like Bernie Goldberg. Matter of fact, I hate him. Who does this man think he is? I've spent the better part of two decades exposing the outrages of the liberal media, and during most of that time, Bernie Goldberg was earning a comfortable living in that very industry. Along the way I'd thought about writing a book about media bias, but before I could do that, Goldberg decided there was a problem with bias and decided to write a book about it, and "Bias" shot to the top of the New York Times...

In February, the Securities and Exchange Commission reportedly questioned Hayden about possible insider trading of shares in Sirius Satellite Radio. Hayden was in Stern's studio Oct. 6, 2004, the day Stern announced his plans to move to Sirius in January 2006. The news drove up Sirius shares by 16% at the close of that day's trading. Once again, the political right and the political left are united by one common objective: the suppression of unorthodox speech that threatens their two-party duopoly. Sneaking in quietly, on little bureaucrat feet, lawyers and other agents of the Incumbent-ocracy are enacting rules that will threaten the economic livelihoods, and possibly even the personal freedoms, of those who express heterodox opinions. On the right, Rep. James Sensenbrenner (R-Wisc.), chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, wants criminal penalties for "indecent" speech over the airwaves. Fines weren't good enough. Sensenbrenner & Co. think the likes of Howard Stern should go to jail. Some...

I'm not sure if I'm doing this correctly, I'm a newbie here so go easy on me. I'm trying to identify organizations and potential financial backers for a conservative web-based program that will counter the radical left (Air America, John Stewart, Howard Stern, etc.). It'll combine facts, stats, and humor to deconstruct the nonsense the left puts out. It will appeal to a broad multi-cultural, younger audience. Can anyone suggest resources - websites, contacts, etc. to help get the ball rolling?

There's no love lost between Dan Rather and NewsMax readers, and 'The Donald' feels the same way. Today on Howard Stern's radio show Donald Trump was Howard's guest. Stern said he likes Trump because Trump is brutally honest. "I see you all over the place trashing Dan Rather," revealed Stern. "Well, Dan was not too great," Trump replied, in the understatement of the new millennium. "He had me on 60 Minutes, and he did nothing but be nice to me and he was great; then all of a sudden, at the end, he starts ... 'You're a vicious, horrible human...

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Radio shock-jock Howard Stern, whose daily show is too racy for many blue-chip sponsors, will usher in a new era of national radio advertising once he begins his new gig at Sirius Satellite Radio in January, the company's CEO Mel Karmazin said Wednesday. He told a gathering of Wall Street analysts in Florida that Sirius might run various local feeds of Stern's show in such cities as Los Angeles and New York, whereby local weather and contests might be featured, in order to lure local advertisers. The emphasis, though, will be on beefing up the...

March 2, 2005 -- Investigators looking into insider-trading allegations in the blockbuster deal between Howard Stern and Sirius Radio are checking out reported boasts by the shock jock's limo driver that he profited from the deal, The Post has learned. The announcement last Oct. 5 that Stern would ditch Infinity Broadcasting for Sirius sent shares of the satellite broadcaster skyrocketing. The next day, Stern said on-air that his driver, Ronnie Mund — known on the show as "Ronnie the limo driver" — bragged in the studio about how he had bought Sirius stock cheap before his boss joined the company....

Ratings and research company Bridge Ratings has conducted a study of Howard Stern listeners gauging their willingness to follow him to Sirius when his current Infinity contract ends. The survey found that over one in five listeners, or 22%, planned on subscribing to Sirius to continue to hear Stern. 41% were undecided, while 37% said they wouldn't subscribe. When asked if they knew what it cost to subscribe to Sirius, almost half (49%) of the listeners weren't aware, as compared to 39% who were. When told that they would have to pay for hardware and a monthly subscription fee, only...

Chaunce Hayden, target of a subpoena into an investigation of possible insider trading in the stock of Sirius just before Howard Stern announced he would move his broadcast to the satellite network, ... told EDC that, "A protest outside the SEC building should occur for anybody who pays taxes, on the day I am scheduled to testify." The SEC has launched an insider-trading probe of shock jock Howard Stern's deal to join Sirius Satellite Radio. Howard has also indicated to colleagues that he...

The FCC, Super Bowl, Howard Stern and Thee By Lisa Sarrach February 14, 2005 Shakespeare famously wrote in Henry VI, "First thing we do, let's kill all the lawyers," which at the time meant something entirely different than it does today, as a modern day poke at attorneys everywhere. But there is some symmetry to be had in its original context as the common man rebellion sought to rid the world of the literate and educated in order to take the crown from Henry VI. Today, it is the common everyday American who seeks to overthrow the "educated" elitists in...

Life without Stern isn't looking pretty Radio stations that dropped the ribald radio star a year ago have seen ratings plummet. NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - A year ago, Pittsburgh radio station WXDX-FM was near the top of its game on weekday mornings. Today it's fighting hard for listeners. What changed? Two words: Howard Stern. A year ago next month, WXDX and five other stations owned by Clear Channel pulled the shock jock off the air in response to a government backlash against smutty programming. For Clear Channel (Research), the country's largest radio operator, the risk of losing valuable licenses to...

Howard's end? The shock jock is almost dead on the public airwaves: One more indecency blunder and Stern is off. NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - The shock jock died Thursday on public radio. On Dec. 23, a portentous deal reached last month between Viacom, the owner of the country's second-largest radio station operator, and federal anti-indecency watchdogs went into effect. On top of paying $3.5 million to end several ongoing investigations of on-air public broadcasts, Viacom agreed to additional measures aimed at preventing future material deemed obscene, profane or indecent. If Viacom has lived up to settlement terms, Howard Stern has...

Howard Stern will be free to be indecent on satellite radio, the Federal Communications Commission effectively said Wednesday -- a decision that should also make cable- and satellite-TV providers breathe easier, at least for now. The FCC declined to open a proceeding on whether satellite radio is indecent, saying that it is a subscription service and that the agency has already ruled that such services "do not call into play the issue of indecency." The request for the proceeding was aimed directly at Stern. Saul Levine, whose attorneys filed the petition Oct. 29 on behalf of his L.A.-based Mt. Wilson...

THE next time the FCC complains about How ard Stern, Viacom has promised to yank him off the air immediately. The unusual "sudden death" deal is part of a sweeping, $3.5 million consent decree announced yesterday by the FCC that wipes out "at least 50" indecency investigations against all of Viacom's radio and TV stations — including several against Stern, as well as Opie & Anthony's $357,000 fine for their infamous "Sex in St. Pat's" contest. It does not include the $550,00 fine against CBS for Janet Jackson's Super Bowl flash, which the network has vowed to fight in...

If you've happened to stumble upon Howard Stern's radio show in the past 10-11 months, you know he's been bashing President Bush constantly. Attacking him for the war on Iraq, making fun of his supposed lack of intellect, basically doing everything those on the left do and have done for the past year or two. What you may not know is that Stern was supportive of President Bush prior to the whole FCC / Janet Jackson nonsense. Once his own personal finances and radio program came under fire by the FCC, he began blaming Bush and Republicans and claiming they're...

First there were the ads warning of the evils of "Pay TV". Then, much more recently, there have been the ads pointing out the great ripoff cable TV is (so they say; ads for satellite companies) and similar ads for cable TV which slam satellite TV. Costs, unreliability, etc. Now I've heard an ad (on WRKO, Boston) that really gives it to satellite radio. Think the broadcast owners are starting to really fear audience erosion to Sirius and XM? The ad has different people (a kind of "person on the street" approach, with the respondents saying things like: "I cancelled...

The defection of Infinity Broadcasting's star performer, Howard Stern, to satellite operator Sirius is a big loss for the broadcaster and its parent Viacom Inc., potentially worsening an already wobbly performance in its radio business. But the overall impact on Viacom could be limited as the media company's television and film businesses expand. Infinity has seen its earnings and revenue growth slow sharply in the past couple of years. The unit recorded flat operating income of $267 million for this year's second quarter, amid only a 2% increase in revenue, to $561 million. Though Infinity had shown signs of improvement...

If there is one thing I have learned in my life, there is no such thing as a coincidence. That's why something brought me snap to attention when I read shock-jock, Howard Stern, would be leaving commercial radio when his contract with Viacom finished. Viacom? Viacom? Where did I remember that name from?Of course, Viacom was the parent company of CBS. The same CBS that employed Dan Rather. The same CBS that employed Mary Mapes. The same CBS that used fraudulent, well, manufactured documents to defraud the electorate and throw a presidential election.

If you need a quick / easy way to register to vote (for BUSH), go here and use this link provided by Howard Stern: http://www.howardstern.com/ If you haven't listened to Howard Stern, lately, he's been on a very self-serving, hypocritical quest to oust Bush from office. Is this a compliment to Kerry to let him know that the ONLY way he will win is to get the votes of those...

With the election being so close, both in the polls and in 2000, a new voter subgroup has caught the eye of some pundits. This year, instead of "soccer moms" and "NASCAR Dads", there is talk of the "Howard Stern Voter". To those of you on Mars (like Fred "Eric" Norris) Stern has for the last few months been launching daily broadsides at President Bush and the Administration due to fines and harassment by the FCC. Sports-talk landscape shifting By Carlos Frias Sunday, August 15, 2004 South Florida sports talk radio in the past few weeks has been a soap opera worthy of, well... sports talk radio. Defections, suspensions, new programming and new competition to sports-talk stalwarts all have listeners dividing their loyalties and reprogramming their presets. Starting Monday, WQAM (560-AM), which had dubbed itself all sports all the time and broadcasts Dolphins, Marlins and Panthers games, turns into motley entertainment in the mornings. Howard Stern will take over the station's four-hour morning time slot beginning at 6 that was split between Dolphins play-by-play announcer Howard...
