WASHINGTON -- A Fort Worth congresswoman wants manufactured and mobile homes to come equipped with weather radios. Congresswoman Kay Granger's proposal comes after this week's deaths of at least six people in flooding in North Texas. The Fort Worth Republican is co-sponsoring legislation requiring that every manufactured home be supplied with a weather radio. The radio would automatically carry emergency broadcasts of the National Weather Service. The requirement would be part of the federal manufactured home construction and safety standards. The Department of Defense POW/Missing Personnel Office (DPMO) announced today that the remains of a U.S. serviceman, missing in action from World War II, have been identified and returned to his family for burial with full military honors. He is Pvt. Lawrence P. Burkett, U.S. Army, of Jefferson, N.C. He will be buried Saturday in Jefferson. Six hundred soldiers from the Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment have returned home from a tough and challenging operational tour of duty in Iraq. ABOARD USS BOXER (NNS) -- Boxer Expeditionary Strike Group (BOXESG) returned from its twice-extended Western Pacific deployment May 31 to the cheers of friends and family. BOXESG’s mission was to transport the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU)(special operations capable(SOC)) to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. THE remains of two Australian soldiers killed in the Vietnam War will be repatriated early next week. A team of Australian veterans unearthed the remains of Lance Corporal Richard Parker and Private Peter Gillson in southern Vietnam last month. The pair were killed during a November 1965 battle in Dong Nai province, east of Saigon, but their bodies could not be recovered at the time. The Federal Government is finalising repatriation and funeral arrangements. WASHINGTON -- Existing-home sales took the biggest tumble in 18 years during March as poor weather struck demand. Meanwhile, U.S. consumer confidence fell significantly in April, with a reverse in consumer optimism about present conditions leading the decline, according to a report released Tuesday. Home resales fell to a 6.12 million annual rate, a 8.4% decrease from February's revised 6.68 million annual pace, the National Association of Realtors said Tuesday.
