  • Latino population to surpass whites in California in two months..

California's Latino population is going to overtake the white population in only two months, according to this year's state budget report. The state is also getting older, with the population of over 65s predicted to hit a boom over the coming months. The state has been getting more diverse for a while, but now the Latino population will be 'the single largest race or ethnic group', and it's thought to be because most Latino groups are in their prime childbearing years.
  • Many blacks and Latinos have no retirement savings, study shows

Fewer than half of blacks and Latino workers have retirement plans on the job, leaving the vast majority of them with no savings designated for their golden years, according to a report to be released Tuesday. Americans of all races face the growing prospect of downward mobility in retirement, the report said, but the problem is particularly acute for blacks and Hispanics. More often than not, blacks and Latinos benefit little from the tax breaks and other policy initiatives aimed at bolstering retirement security because they typically have no money to save for retirement in IRAs and other vehicles outside...
  • Obama approval cliff dives among poor Hispanics and Non-Whites

Yesterday we noted the precipitous drop in support for Obama among one of his stool legs, Harvard Survey: Obama and Obamacare push Millennials support off cliff It gets worse. There is a certain poetic justice in the latest Gallup poll of presidential support. Obama’s support has dropped the most among poor Hispanics and Non-Whites versus one year ago. President Barack Obama’s job approval rating averaged 41% in November, down 12 percentage points from 53% last December, his high-water mark since his first year in office. Hispanics’ approval has dropped 23 points over the last 12 months, the most among major...
  • Health law's Spanish sign-up tools delayed

Add one more delay to the list for the rollout of President Barack Obama's health care law. This time, it's a postponement of the launch of online enrollment tools in Spanish. Hispanics are viewed as one of keys to the success of Obama's coverage expansion. Their relative youthfulness is seen as a plus for the law's new markets. They are heavily represented in major states that the administration is targeting for enrollments and they're overwhelmingly likely to qualify for tax credits that would help make premiums more affordable.
  • Jeb Bush: 'I'm a conservative' (Running for president?)

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush predicted Monday night Congress would pass a series of immigration bills next year and touted his conservative credentials as he talked about his thought process on a potential 2016 presidential bid. In a wide-ranging, onstage interview at the 92nd Street Y in New York City, Bush said he didn't necessarily agree with his mother, who joked there have been "enough Bushes" in the White House. The Spanish-speaking former governor also took a slight dig at another potential 2016 contender, Sen. Ted Cruz, for his Spanish language skills. 'I'm a conservative' At one point in the...

When former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin went to Wausau, Wisconsin on Thursday, the whole city sold out of her new book, Good Tidings and Great Joy: Protecting the Heart of Christmas. Palin held a book signing at the local Walmart, where a line snaked around the gigantic store (see video below) for the sold out book. Breitbart News has confirmed the town's Sam's Club and Barnes & Noble also sold out all their copies of her new book as well yesterday. At Walmart, Palin greeted a multitude of well-wishers and signed book after book. Just like her Bethlehem, PA stop,...
  • Obamacare mess weakens White House pitch to Hispanics

    Washington Examiner ^ | November 7, 2013 | By BRIAN HUGHES
Obamacare could become a liability for Democrats among Latino voters, a key demographic that has been a focus of their health reform messaging. Hispanics have been far more sympathetic to President Obama’s signature domestic achievement than the rest of the general population, with Latinos accounting for roughly 30 percent of the uninsured pool. The botched rollout of Obamacare’s new insurance exchanges, though, hardly resembles what the president promised Latino voters when he sold his health reform plan. For all the problems with healthcare.gov, the Spanish-speaking version of the federal website registering consumers hasn’t even gone live yet. And amid the...
  • How Obamacare Glitches Could Put Hispanics in Play

After two election cycles of Democrats successfully marketing Obamacare to Hispanic voters, the health care law's rocky start could turn into a bargaining chip for Republicans. Hispanic adults have supported President Obama's Affordable Care Act at a rate twice that of whites. More than 10 million Hispanics—roughly one-fourth of the total uninsured population—stand to benefit from the law. An outsize proportion of the eligible Hispanics are the healthy millennials who could make or break universal health care. But glitches on the enrollment site are blocking Hispanics (and everyone else) from signing up for subsidized insurance, while the Spanish-language website has...

Here’s something you won’t hear from the Hispanic media, the mainstream media, or the White House: Among the many terrible side effects of Obamacare is its adverse effects on Hispanics. This stems from the fact that the Hispanic population is one of the youngest, in addition to Obamacare’s impact on the wholesale and retail industry, which employs many Hispanic Americans. Wholesale and retail will be hit especially hard by Obamacare, because, as one consultant noted, “employers not currently offering coverage to all employees working at least 30 hours a week may be more inclined to change their workforce strategy so...

Who would have thought that a Walmart commercial could make me shed a tear and then jump out of my chair, pump my fist in the air and yell out loud “Yes”? Well, that’s exactly what happened a couple years ago when I first saw a commercial about Noemi Flores, a middle-aged Hispanic woman who earned her 20-years-of-service badge from Walmart.

The National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference (NHCLC) and the American Bible Society (ABS) are kicking off a three-year campaign to promote biblical fluency and literacy in the U.S. Hispanic community with Mes de la Biblia (Month of the Bible). With biblical illiteracy affecting 92 percent of the U.S. Latino community, the two organizations are challenging Hispanic churches and Hispanic Christians to commit to reading Scripture daily throughout September. “We are inviting pastors and leaders to take action in the fight against biblical illiteracy, which threatens to destroy the principles and values on which our great nation was founded,” says Rev....

The political stakes could hardly be higher. Latinos, who have leaned Democratic, demographically are surging in Texas. And if the Democrats can turn Texas blue (or even purple) they would have a huge leg up at winning control of the executive branch of the U.S. government in future presidential elections. By achieving sufficient Democratic preeminence in Texas progressives could turn the White House blue.  And they know it. As the Democratic Party’s George Washington Plunkitt of Tammany Hall once famously said, “I seen my opportunities and I took ‘em.”  So, too, are Plunkitt’s Democratic Party successors taking their opportunity … announcing...

HOLLYWOOD, August 7, 2013 (American Life League) - Planned Parenthood’s has its guns aimed squarely at Hispanic teens, as it continues its latest foray into eugenic targeting via an unbelievably salacious novella featuring an all-Latino/Latina cast. Set in East Los Angeles, Episode 1 of East Los High (ELH) features Vanessa, who has just been crowned Winter Queen. She receives a text and, stopping mid-dance with her boyfriend, the Winter King, dashes to a car and has sex with the caller. The scene flashes from the dance floor to the car, where Vanessa is seen gyrating and moaning, while someone videotapes...

(CNSNews.com) - Unemployment among American Hispanics climbed to 9.4 percent in July, up from 9.1 percent in May and June, and 9.0 percent in April, according to data released today by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. During President Obama's time in office, the number of American Hispanics who are unemployed has increased 161,000--rising from 2,205,000 in January 2009 to 2,366,000 in July 2013. BLS defines a person as unemployed if they are 16 years or older and do not have a job, but have actively sought one in the last four weeks. The Hispanic community has been hit harder by...

Apparently, “Justice for Trayvon” includes threatening to kill a Hispanic guy who was found not guilty of murder, for the express reason that he was found not guilty of murder. ABC News: George Zimmerman immediately went back into hiding after being acquitted of murder in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, his parents told Barbara Walters in an exclusive interview with ABC News, adding that they haven’t seen him since he left the courthouse. The Zimmermans said that because of “an enormous amount of death threats,” they, too, have remained in hiding and still don’t feel safe enough to return...

Baltimore police say they are investigating a witness account that a group of black youths beat a Hispanic man near Patterson Park Sunday while saying, "This is for Trayvon." A witness posted the account on a community Facebook page, and police confirmed they are looking into whether the suspects' reaction to the verdict in the Florida trial of George Zimmerman played a part in the incident. A police report on the beating does not mention the alleged comments. Sgt. Eric Kowalczyk, a police spokesman, declined to go into further detail.

The first phase of the "abortion restrictions" vote in Texas was very interesting: "Lawmakers voted 98-49 for the bill on second reading and a third reading vote is forthcoming, likely tomorrow, but the same margin is expected. The vote today for conditional approval is four more votes for the measure than the last time the House approved the bill before Wendy Davis' infamous filibuster. Five pro-life Democrats voted for HB2 including Guillen, Herrero, Martinez, Munoz, and Pickett while one Republican voted against it: Sarah Davis." The Hispanic Democrats who voted for these restrictions are more representative of their communities than...

by John HillStand With Arizona Amnesty-pushing politicians who insist that putting strong border security measures and interior enforcement before legalization for illegal aliens will anger Hispanic voters, were completely undermined by a new poll. This poll shows that a majority of registered Hispanic voters believe any immigration legislation that becomes law should deal with border security and interior immigration law enforcement before legalization of America’s at least 11 million illegal aliens begins. “Among all Hispanics, six in ten, 60%, support granting legal status to those already here only when the 90% goal is reached; 32% oppose,” GOP pollster John McLaughlin’s...
