Mitt Romney said at the debate last week Thursday that the Texas in-state tuition rates made available for children of illegals who want a higher education, encourages illegal immigration. Chris Christie said Tuesday Evening at the Reagan Library that he supports giving an education for children of illegals but in the samesentence he took a swipe at Texas Governor Rick Perry for proving education for children of illegals at reduced rates. The website of the University of Texas states clearly that to “be classified as a Texas residents and entitled to pay resident tuition,” meaning, the same rate that any...

In a one-on-one backstage interview with The Brody File, presidential contender Newt Gingrich says the fact that the media has declared this a two-man race between Mitt Romney and Rick Perry is a, “combination of arrogance and stupidity.”
  • Do we have an ongoing thread for the 2012 Republican convention?

Does Freeper have an ongoing thread for the Republican convention in 2012? It will be in Tampa, Florida. I don't think its too early to plan for Freepers who may be going. The Dems already are planning to protest and encouraging their minions to get hotel rooms, etc. I'm in Jacksonville, Fl and plan on being there to support our conservatives. I used to live in St Petersburg/Tampa so I know the area.

Republican presidential contender Rep. Ron Paul had some tough words for his Republican opponent Texas Governor Rick Perry, calling him “candidate of the week” and said his poll numbers would fall once voters get to know him better. “He was the one saying, ‘Oh yeah, I’m all for secession,’ and that kind of talk,” Paul told the Associated Press referring to a 2009 interview in which Perry said there was no reason for Texas to secede from the union, but suggested it was a possibility if Washington political leaders continued to “thumb their nose at the American people.” “The only...

It's hard to log on and read the threads on the FR and not wonder what is going on, have the Freepers went off thier rockers? Has Obama driven them insane? I know I'm going to take some heat for this but it needs saying. Oh, and this was posted in the CHIT/CHAT forum where things like this can be posted. Let's categorize the crazies: 1) First, theirs the Sarah Palin is running but she's so brilliant she's skipping all the debates crowd. She's not running folks, she all but made that clear while signing autograph's at the fair today....

DES MOINES, Iowa — Things look different in the Midwest. Back in Washington, people are talking about President Barack Obama's poor showing this past week. (Did you see that Maureen Dowd has turned against him?) In Iowa, they're focused on the state Republicans' presidential straw poll in Ames next Saturday. And in Wisconsin, they just got through counting the votes in a recall election that has great national significance. In Iowa, most of the focus has been on Rep. Michele Bachmann. She's only in her third term in the House, and she hasn't sponsored any major legislation; she has no...

ASPEN, Col. — Bill Clinton thinks Mitt Romney is much improved from his last presidential run, admits he kind of likes Jon Huntsman, and says Michele Bachmann is looking like “a better candidate" than he thought. ... “But, y’know, I like the governors: I like Huntsman and Romney. Romney’s a MUCH better candidate than he was last time, because he’s not apologizing for signing the health-care bill. He’s got another creative way of saying we oughta repeal Obamacare, but that’s prob’ly the price of gettin’ the nomination. “Huntsman hasn’t said what he’s for yet, but I just kinda like him....

Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) said Friday that it's her sense that Republican voters are "very satisfied" with the field of presidential candidates. Following Monday's debate in New Hampshire, Bachmann said voters were happier with their options. "I think people, especially after the debate on Monday night, were very satisfied with what they saw with the candidates," she said on Fox News. [...] She passed, though, both at the debate and on Fox, at leveling tough criticism at former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney's (R) state healthcare law. Republican presidential hopeful Jon Huntsman was a top executive of a large chemical conglomerate that is paying $33 million to settle a lawsuit alleging price-fixing. Huntsman International LLC recently agreed to pay the money to settle a suit filed by several competitors. The lawsuit accused Huntsman International and other companies of antitrust violations by fixing the price of urethane chemicals, used in various products. Huntsman was a top executive in the family's business conglomerate for about five of the six years covered by the lawsuit's allegations. He confirmed Tuesday that he will run for president.

Rollins, who was Mike Huckabee's national campaign director in the 2008 campaign, is an experienced political operative with a well-earned reputation for his tough tactics and willingness to play hardball.

LITTLE ROCK — Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee foresees a “broke and battered” nominee emerging from the 2012 Republican presidential sweepstakes but says his recent exit from the race is not etched in stone. Appearing today as a guest of the Clinton School of Public Service, the surprise 2008 GOP presidential contender said he did not entirely rule out running next year when he announced last month he had decided against throwing his hat into the ring. Running as a vice presidential candidate next year or for president in 2016 also are not out of the question, he said. “Everything...

Perry’s Path to GOP Nomination Could be the Clearest By Chris Stirewalt Published May 27, 2011 | FoxNews.com Maybe Texas Gov. Rick Perry said he’s decided to test the waters on a presidential run just because he’s feels left out. For all the attention paid to the presidential possibilities of two members of the House (Paul Ryan and Michele Bachmann) and a reality show host (you know who), you’d never know that the Republicans had on their bench the three-term governor of the state with the nation’s best economy and the largest Republican population. But for some reason, when Perry...

Former House Majority Leader Dick Armey tells Newsmax that the 2012 elections will leave the GOP in control of the presidency, Senate, and House, and tea party activists will oust “timid” Republicans who aren’t committed to small government. The Texas Republican, chairman of FreedomWorks and a patriarch of the tea party movement, calls President Barack Obama a “romantic egalitarian” who is “quite confused,” asserts that Obamacare is a “monstrosity,” and says Rep. Paul Ryan’s plan to reduce spending is a “bold initiative” but doesn’t go far enough. Armey served in the House from 1985 to 2003 and is the co-author...

Dear Bill O’Reilly, I am writing you this letter because you are in the unique position of being able to boost the profile of the single-most-conservative candidate in the Republican nomination process. It is already the Spring of 2011, and with an election less than two years away and counting, lines are being drawn and primary voters are picking their sides. By this time in the 2008 Presidential race John McCain, Hillary Clinton, and Barack Obama had all announced their run for the top spot in the White House, so for all those in the media (this includes you Bill)...

HIGHEST POLLING REPUBLICAN HAS NOTHING BUT PRAISE FOR LONG SHOT CANDIDATE HERMAN CAIN Earlier today, Mike Huckabee joined me on my radio show to promote his new book, "A Simple Government," and while I know there are many of you that would have preferred I take a much more confrontational approach, I decided to keep it cordial and ask his thoughts on my favorite GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain. I had written about Cain in my previous article, "Raising Cain: The Untold Story of the GOP's last best hope, Herman Cain," and was pleasantly surprised by all the other Pro-Cain...

It was the untold story of the last weekend’s New Hampshire straw poll, Herman Cain, Tea Party member and CEO of Godfather’s Pizza, beat out Mike Huckabee, Chris Christie, Rick Santorum, Mitch Daniels, and Newt Gingrich. All with virtually no press coverage and no establishment support. With that strong of a showing in the poll, it is time conservatives and the media start giving Herman Cain a better look, and comparing him to the other potential 2012 Republican candidates. Herman Cain was born and raised by working class parents in rural Georgia. He’s had experience in both the private and...
