Just got done watching Gangster Squad and it is a great movie. It takes some artistic license but clearly gives credit to Chief Parker for keeping the mob out of Los Angeles. I've lived in Los Angeles all my life as has my father - and he often has talked about how Chief Parker went Roman on the mafia in the 1950's in order to keep them out of Los Angeles.
