Currently, Topics are tied individual Forums, such that the 50 states (but not DC) show up as Topics for a thread posted in or moved to the GOP forum -- but the 50 states (and DC) show up as "US:(state name)" in threads posted in or moved to the News forum. Those state lists don't cross. Same goes for the duplicate Topics found in Chat and Blogger forums -- and those lists are all separate from one another. Keywords are available across all Forums. All three systems should be merged into a Tags system. Currently, the URL (which I still...

I think on the right we’ve been ignoring the mainstream media for years,” Matt Mayer, who runs a conservative think tank out of Dublin, Ohio, told me. “I think the real break was Rathergate. The view was that Dan Rather truly tried to alter the election by hitting Bush with that National Guard stuff, and I think that’s when the right finally said, ‘That’s it.’” And that, he continued, led to the rise of sites like Free Republic and Glenn Beck’s TheBlaze, with their communities of active commenters. Unfounded claims often take root and flourish. “In some ways it’s an...

I took some time away from FR and Im enjoying that time immensely.(it just takes an attitude adjustment). So off I go. I considered shutting up and simply leaving but since I have been here a while I figured , Hell I might as well say something and Opuses are somewhat of a tradition..... thus the Opus route won Final thoughts: A professor I had said if you don't agree on terms you are not communicating And there is not much agreement on terms anymore. The main term not agreed on is "CONSERVATIVE " On Google FR is defined as...
  • FEC decision would end witch hunt of Drudge [Implications for FR?]

The Federal Election Commission, which has toyed with regulating internet new sites that have a political edge, is being urged to extend what amounts to a "Drudge Report exemption" to a developing political and marketing news site. Ethiq Inc. plans to help consumers and voters with their choices by steering specific news to them, but appears concerned that it could run afoul of the FEC, which under Democratic control mulled regulation of politically charged sites, especially conservative ones like Drudge. In a memo to the FEC, Ethiq's lawyers said that the information from their site will be non-partisan, developed by...

I have been a member of FreeRepublic since February 1998, and in all my years I have ever seen so many Freepers support, and defend such a leftist candidate as Donald Trump. In the old days, any candidate that spouted the rhetoric coming out of his mouth would have been received with unanimous hatred from Freepers. Mitt Romney was met with scorn when he claimed to have changed and was more conservative than his record showed. However, The Donald says the same thing and he is allowed to wear his liberal record as badge of honor, because he has been...

".....Of course,Trump doesn't drink. Neither did W. The want-to-have-a-beer-with metric is metaphorical in nature. It's more a measure of the voter's own id and imagination than of the candidate's likely behavior if thrown into a prolonged, casual social interaction with an unknown citizen.(A 2005 story in the Onion was titled "Long-Awaited Beer With Bush Really Awkward,Voter Reports."Noting the poll numbers on the beer question, the story envisions W. tippling an O'Doul's with a blue-collar Pennsylvanian and failing to connect on any level.)Still, knocking one back with a candidate appears to be an activity voters like to ponder.Consider this January message thread on the conservative...

CatherineofAragon was an active, very pro-Cruz FReeper who suddenly went quiet. I'd had only one exchange with her and while we ended up with different preferences, she was most gracious. I noted she wasn't around for the IA caucus nor tonight for the NH primary. Does anyone know CatherineofAragon personally? Is she all right? I did a search; her last posts were January 24. Without a real-world contact, sometimes FReepers go quiet and are never heard from again, and we don't know what happened.

If you had to vote in your state primary/caucus today, knowing what you know now about the various declared and probable candidates, who would you vote for? Why? Who would you like to see as the running mate for your preferred candidate? If you could help staff your candidates cabinet and other top appointments, who would you choose? If you could recommend different congressional leaders than we have now, who would they be? And who would you like to see on the Supreme Court and why? And finally, feel free to donate to Free Republic.

Regrouping JANUARY 22, 2016 ~ CONSISTENTCONSERVATIVES This is an emergency means for us to keep in touch with our FRiends, who are real Conservatives, in case of purging. Or, if there is no purging, do we really want to continue our discussions in the forum where the owner despises us for not supporting his non-Conservative candidate? My purpose is to figure out what to do to continue our discussions to advance Conservatism.

Please help. I keep hearing folks on Free Republic talk about sidebars and other features, which for the life of me, I was not seeing. I use Chrome. I got the idea to go to Internet Explorer, and pulled up Freerepublic. Sure enough, I can see all the sidebars. Does this mean I have to switch over to IE to properly view FreeRepublic? I can't stand IE and realy prefer Chrome. Thanks for any input.

JRandomFreeper (Johnny) died at 4:33 pm, January 22, 2016. He was 54 years old, his last birthday, October 13. 2015. He leaves two sisters, one brother, two daughters and five grandchildren. Johnny had hundreds (thousands?) of Freeper friends. His posts were sought after and were pithy to the max. He was the ultimate prepper, survivor, agriculture plant grower, electronic expert, and trained chef. If you were in trouble, he was the one you would want with you. He could make something useful out of almost nothing, or out of plain air - air is something - nitrogen, oxygen, argon, carbon...

OK, JimRob and JohnRob, I know it is not a huge issue, but is there any chance we might find a way to possibly upgrade the "Search" function on FR? Re: http://freerepublic.com/focus/f-bloggers/3386670/posts It's been years now. Since about 1998.
