A midterm election season that appeared quite settled Tuesday night has suddenly entered a bitterly contested overtime, with Arizona’s Senate candidates locked in a tight race and trading the lead as votes trickle in – and Florida reprising its 2000 role as the center of a ballot-counting brawl complete with armies of lawyers and allegations of local corruption. In Arizona, Democratic candidate Kyrsten Sinema suddenly took a narrow 9,600-vote lead over GOP opponent Martha McSally late Thursday, with some 400,000 votes left to count in a closely watched race that will determine the size and influence of the Republican Senate...

Fox News star Sean Hannity is looking to leave the network and may be out by the end of the week, according to a Daily Beast report. Hannity was a long-time ally of Fox News co-president Bill Shine, who resigned from the network Monday morning. Hannity defended Shine on Twitter as the executive came under scrutiny for his role in Fox’s sexual harassment controversy since Roger Ailes’ departure from the network last summer. In a series of tweets last week, Hannity said that Shine’s departure would be “the total end of the FNC as we know it,” and used the...

An investigation by The New York Times has found a total of five women who have received payouts from either Mr. O’Reilly or the company in exchange for agreeing to not pursue litigation or speak about their accusations against him. The agreements totaled about $13 million. Two settlements came after the network’s former chairman, Roger Ailes, was dismissed last summer in the wake of a sexual harassment scandal, when the company said it did not tolerate behavior that “disrespects women or contributes to an uncomfortable work environment.”

  • Sarah Palin is in GOP party leaders' bullseye if Republicans fall short in November..

Sarah Palin has unquestionably made her voice heard in this election cycle - but if the GOP falls short of taking back the Senate as most prognosticators expect, the Pride of Wasilla will take a hit from party leaders who think she turns off independents. "If we don't win the Senate I have one thing to say: ‘Thank you, Sarah Palin,'" a household name and bigtime player in Republican circles tells The Mouth. This source and several other party elders believe Palin's endorsement of Christine O'Donnell has made a difficult Senate seat pickup in ideologically centrist Delaware hopeless. They also...
  • White House takes swipe at NBC News

The White House on Monday sent a scathing letter to NBC News, accusing the news network of “deceptively” editing an interview with President Bush on the issue of appeasement and Iran. At issue were remarks Bush made in front of Israel's parliament earlier this week. Specifically, White House counselor Ed Gillespie laments that the network edited the interview in a way that “is clearly intended to give viewers the impression that [Bush] agreed with [correspondent Richard Engel's] characterization of his remarks when he explicitly challenged it. “This deceitful editing to further a media-manufactured storyline is utterly misleading and irresponsible and...
