The Lone Star Brewery has been saved from being sold at a foreclosure auction Tuesday, even after its owner defaulted on a $7.4 million loan, according to the lawyer who was appointed to run the sale. Local lawyer Dale Weyand said in an email that he had been instructed to “pull the sale” by NCC Financial, a Houston firm that loaned the $7.4 million to the brewery’s owner, Lone Star Brewery Development Inc., in 2015. More than twenty years later, the candy company is releasing their fourth candy bar ever, called Hershey Gold. Using what the company calls “caramelized crème,” this new Hershey’s bar, which Food & Wine previewed back in September, isn’t actually made with any chocolate.
