Heads up everyone. The left is starting to push out a new smear against Palin. I just got an email in a 'dummy' account that I use to troll talking points from leftwing groups. They are using the photo below to pose as Conservatives on forums and blogs and say that Palin refuses to wear an 'American Flag' that it is an Israli flag. The truth is, this is a "Blue Star Family" pin honoring a son in service. Apparently the left has no idea what this pin is or they hope enough gullible people don't look into it.

We all know John Semmens, who posts regularly from his AzConservative satire site. People regularly mistake his work for reality, sometimes to hilarious effect, but sometimes just to a sad conclusion. In this story, we will look at two letters to the editor to a local paper here in Manassas. First, "On Barack Obama and Patriotism", A. Vic Poillucci, July 11, 2008: Mr. Obama’s response — “As I’ve said about the flag pin, I don’t want to be perceived as taking sides. There are a lot of people in the world to whom the American Flag is a symbol of...

Tired of having his patriotism questioned, the Democratic candidate has made Old Glory a major visual element of his campaign.Barack Obama, who once considered flag pins a shallow symbol, can't surround himself with enough patriotic trappings these days. At the Fourth of July parade here, Obama sat in the reviewing stand with his wife and two young daughters, admiring the simple floats dedicated to rescue workers and local high schools. He seldom goes out in public now without a flag pin stuck in his lapel. He devoted an entire speech to patriotism this week in Independence, Mo. Visually reinforcing the...

You'll notice Barack Obama is now wearing a flag pin. Again. During the primary campaign, he refused to, explaining that he'd worn one after 9/11 but then stopped because it "became a substitute for, I think, true patriotism." So why is he back to sporting pseudo-patriotism on his chest? Need you ask? The primaries are over. While seducing the hard-core MoveOn Democrats that delivered him the caucuses — hence, the Democratic nomination — Obama not only disdained the pin. He disparaged it. Now that he's running in a general election against John McCain, and in dire need of the gun-and-God-clinging...

Last fall, Barack Obama explained why he hadn't been wearing an American flag pin on his lapel. "I won't wear that pin on my chest," the presumptive Democratic nominee said. "Instead, I'm going to try to tell the American people what I believe will make this country great, and hopefully that will be a testimony to my patriotism." What a difference a presidential campaign makes. Obama, who suggested back then that the flag pin "became a substitute for I think true patriotism" after the Sept. 11 attacks, now regularly sports the patriotic symbol at campaign events. He even briefly employed...

CNN classifies Campbell Brown as an "anchor," but that apparently doesn't prevent her from riding to Barack Obama's defense on a high-profile issue. On this evening's Election Center, Brown seconded a guest's assertion that the controversy surrounding Barack Obama's erstwhile refusal to wear a flag pin was "nonsensical" and "ridiculous." The topic was the matter of Obama's patriotism as a campaign issue. CNN contributor and ardent Obama supporter Roland Martin [he who gushed over Rev. Wright's address to the Detroit NAACP] addressed the flag pin flap [note: remarks taken from transcript.] ROLAND MARTIN: First of all, John McCain doesn't wear...

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Like the American flag that Francis Scott Key famously wrote about, the one on Barack Obama's lapel keeps appearing and disappearing. The Democratic presidential hopeful said he generally stopped wearing a flag pin after the 2001 terrorist attacks because he felt it replaced "true patriotism" for some public officials. Some Americans, however, say they question the patriotism of a candidate who makes such a choice, a sentiment that shows up in polls. Last month, the pin briefly reappeared on his suit jacket. Obama said a veteran had given it to him that day and asked him...

Yesterday The Ticket broke the stunning news of America's acquisition of seven, maybe eight, new states, according to future president Barack Obama. He was speaking at the start of a two-day swoop through Oregon, which is already a state. In Beaverton, which is not a state yet, the Democrat let it slip that during this marathon 16-month party presidential nomination struggle against a bunch of dropouts and this female political zombie from New York who won't surrender short of a silver stake, he had already visited 57 states with one more to go. That's not counting the existing states of...

Has anybody got a flag pin? By Wesley Pruden May 2, 2008 Patriotism is not always the last refuge of the scoundrel. Sometimes it's just the last refuge of a frightened politician. Barack Obama, hotly pursued by his preacher and the crazy preacher's aggressive racism, has revised his stump speech. His once formidable polling lead over Hillary Clinton has dwindled to the single digits. The man who wouldn't wear a tiny American flag on his lapel is looking for a flag pin the size of a bass fiddle. "You want to know who I am?" he asked a crowd in...

WILMINGTON, N.C.--Barack Obama defended his commitment to patriotic ideals this afternoon, telling a town hall meeting in North Carolina that "I always have the flag in my heart." Obama has yet to comment directly today on the public re-emergence of his former pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, whose incendiary sermons have stirred political controversy. Speeches that Wright delivered Sunday to NAACP dinner in Detroit and today at the National Press Club in Washington have brought a new round of media attention to past sermons in which he suggested the U.S. policies were partially to blame for the Sept. 11 attacks...

Hillary Clinton got caught in a lie when she said she had dodged sniper fire during a 1996 visit to Bosnia. Now her Democratic presidential rival Barack Obama has been caught in a “sniper fire” lie of his own. During Thursday’s debate in Pennsylvania, Obama was asked why he doesn’t wear an American flag lapel pin, as do many other politicians as well as servicemen and law enforcement officials. “I have never said that I don’t wear flag pins or refuse to wear flag pins,” he responded. “That is the kind of manufactured issue that our politics has become obsessed...

Obama Stops Wearing Flag Pin Oct 4 03:06 PM US/Eastern WATERLOO, Iowa (AP)- Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama said he doesn't wear the American flag lapel pin because it has become a substitute for "true patriotism" since the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Asked about the decision Wednesday in an interview with KCRG-TV in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the Illinois senator said he stopped doing so shortly after the attacks and instead hoped to show his patriotism by explaining his ideas to citizens. "The truth is that right after 9-11 I had a pin," Obama said. "Shortly after 9-11, particularly...

I recently received an e-mail from a Tom H., who writes: "You Murdoch-kissing loser, I still see your stupid flag pin. You can cool it, Cavuto. Bill Moyers sported flag lapel pin on Friday night's Now on PBS, not to proclaim his patriotism and/or pride in the U.S., but to "take" the flag "back" which has been "hijacked and turned into a logo -- the trademark of a monopoly on patriotism." Citing how President Bush and Vice President Cheney wear flag lapel pins, Moyers was reminded of communism: "When I see flags sprouting on official lapels, I think of the time in China when I saw Mao's little Red Book on every official's desk, omnipresent and unread." Moyers went on to complain that "more galling than...
