People who hate freedom were much too hard on Donald Trump for his disinfectant comment. He was wondering out loud if the corona-killing properties of disinfectants could be used medically. He could have phrased it better. But in the current climate thinking outside the square should be encouraged not ridiculed. Who agrees? Is it possible that Corona-virus is God’s way of a human cull in an over populated world? You can see a little more from me on these questions here: https://freedom-demokrasi-and-civilised-humanity.com/2020/04/29/obeying-the-law-but-staying-free-to-be-as-smart-as-we-can/

More deaths, no benefit from malaria drug in VA virus study By MARILYNN MARCHIONE This Monday, April 6, 2020 file photo shows an arrangement of hydroxychloroquine pills in Las Vegas. According to a study released on Tuesday, April 21, 2020, the malaria drug widely touted by President Donald Trump for treating the new coronavirus showed no benefit in an analysis of its use in U.S. veterans hospitals. There were more deaths among those given hydroxychloroquine versus standard care, researchers report. ( Hydroxychloroquine made no difference in the need for a breathing machine, either. Researchers did not track side effects, but...

Over the last two decades the writings of Pat Buchanan have taught me so much that my own background and education, born into a progressive family, could never have taught me. He has converted me to conservatism. (Ron Paul and Aussie P.M. Tony Abbott helped.) What do Freepers think of Pat Buchanan’s analysis of the current crisis: https://buchanan.org/blog/what-price-victory-in-the-coronavirus-war-138432 ? I consider it brilliant.

It’s an opinion shared by President Donald Trump and a growing cadre of physicians and some infectious diseases experts who believe that an effective way to control the spiraling pandemic is to prescribe the anti-malarial at the first sign of symptoms even though it has not gone through the requisite number of clinical trials.

A majority of Democrats want to nominate New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo for president instead of Joe Biden, according to poll results shared exclusively with The Post. The national poll found 56 percent of Democrats prefer Cuomo, with 44 percent wanting to stick with presumptive nominee Biden — a 12-point margin well outside the 4.8 percent margin of error for the Democratic sample. Hispanic voters, young people, women and self-identified liberals are most likely to favor dumping the former vice president for Cuomo. Among people of any party — including independents — who voted for Democrat Hillary Clinton in 2016,...

Dr. Anthony Fauci joins "CBS This Morning" after he and other medical experts credited Americans as well as the mitigation efforts of state and local governments for what they say are signs that the coronavirus' spread is slowing. However, he warned that the next few weeks will be critical and that models may continue to display a downward trend if Americans "redouble our efforts" at social distancing and other precautions.

I would like to know what Freeepers have to say about evaluating presidents through their use (or overuse/underuse?) of the veto. The first thing I noticed was POTUS 45’s low rate of use of the veto compared with other eras. How do Freeepers evaluate Trump’s use of the veto? Here are some facts: 298 years ago, on April 5, 1792, President Washington (should we now call him POTUS 01 or POTUS 1?) exercised the first presidential veto. If I am not mistaken, he blocked legislation that would have given Northern states more seats per head of population than Southern States....

William Wordsworth restored vitality to the stuffy English literature of his lifetime with fresh down to earth language. In the current madness I have turned to Wordsworth this weekend to restore my faith in what is right about humanity. I have found myself rewriting his classic lines written above Tintern Abbey to direct them more to God and a little less at The Self. (Correcting the mistakes of “the Poms” – a.k.a. the British - is a national pastime in Australia.”) https://tujuhbelasan.com/2020/04/04/literary-tujuhbelasan-2-tintern-abbey-revisited/ What do Freeepers have to say about this?

Ammon Bundy said this at the public meeting he organized: "It's all of us going to the governer's house, right, literally, and saying, YOU WILL NOT DO THIS! WE ARE NOT OK WITH THIS! WE ARE GOING TO HIS HOUSE!" How is calling for potentially infected and undoubtedly armed angry people to show up at the Governor's personal residence not considered a real threat? He plans to hold another public event tonight in Emmett Idaho.

Judgement on Dr. Zelenko's Covid-19 treatment from Snopes: Has Dr. Zelenko Successfully Treated 669 Coronavirus Patients? A blog post asserting that people responded well to an experimental COVID-19 treatment is in no way an evidence-based contribution to science. Dr. Vladimir Zelenko's 669 COVID-19 patients that were treated with a combination of hydroxychloroquine, azithromycin, and zinc have seen zero hospitalizations, complications, or deaths. As has been noted elsewhere, combining hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin can cause serious problems for people with certain heart conditions. Though zinc appears to be an important factor in several immune functions, a potential mechanism for how it might...

I do not think anyone knows for certain what is going to happen with Coronavirus. Amid the fear of the pandemic, how many people are scared that the risk of an economic depression from all the current “social isolation” makes this cure potentially far worse than the disease? Who is going to pay back all of the money that governments are suddenly spending? How many generations will that take? Or is it just being printed now to meet the needs of the 24 hours news cycle for a few weeks or months? In that case, where will real value go?...

Greta Thunberg says she may have contracted coronavirus and has self-isolated at home with her father. The teenage climate activist said she appeared to have been infected along with her dad, actor Svante Thunberg. Both began having symptoms after a recent train tour of Europe together and so have been in isolation for the last weeks, she said.

Most people know that the flu can kill. Indeed, the so-called Spanish flu killed 50 million people in 1918—more than were killed in the first world war. But what about TCC? Can you really catch your death? TCC is a collection of symptoms—coughing, sneezing, a runny nose, tiredness and perhaps a fever—rather than a defined disease. Although it shares a lot with the initial symptoms with the flu, it's a very different infection. Rhinovirus causes about half of all TCC, but other viruses can cause one or more of the symptoms of a TCC, including adenovirus, influenza virus, respiratory syncytial...
