WASHINGTON -- Whether you loved or hated the classical music played at President Barack Obama's inauguration, what you heard was a recording made two days earlier unless you were sitting within earshot of the celebrated performers. Cellist Yo-Yo Ma, violinist Itzhak Perlman, pianist Gabriella Montero and clarinetist Anthony McGill made the decision a day before Tuesday's inauguration after a sound check to use a previously recorded audio tape for the broadcast of the ceremonies.

Candidate Wins With Fake Nameby Scott D. Yost County Editor January 15, 2009 The man who ran in and won the Guilford County Soil and Water Conservation District supervisor race in the November 2008 election did so under a fake name: "Kirk Perkins," the winning candidate, is actually a transient whose real name is Kirk Newell. Newell, who is 51 years old, may have spent time in a mental institution before running for the office under the assumed name. A background check by The Rhinoceros Times found that Kirk Perkins and Kirk Newell share more than a first name ...

I am very disappointed that you want to respect the feelings of obama and would agree to keep secret the material that you have. You certainly will be in good company but while its understandable for media in the US to do so because they want to curry favor and guarantee access, there is no reason for you to do this unless you too are trying to climb to the top of the heap with a media empire and obama has promised you help. It is the way he does business so come to think of it that is entirely...

CHICAGO - The ongoing corruption probe into Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich took a dramatic turn this evening, as federal agents working for US Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald announced that they had seized the governor's eBay account. It is as yet unknown how the latest seizure will effect the outcome of the case.

Elections are a fascinating thing in America. Sometimes they get to run nearly until Christmas. They can get even more fascinating, depending on your perspective, when yesterday's winning candidate, Republican Saxby Chambliss, grabs his granddaughters boob during a campaign commercial that ran last week wishing all Georgia voters Happy Thanksgiving. Dont believe me? See the first 60 seconds of a segment from last night's broadcast by Commedy Central's Jon Stewart, below.

Understanding image analysis is very important. Otherwise, you cannot tell fact from fiction. Equally important is the need to understand how not to do image analysis. Otherwise charlatans may try to pull a fast one over you. In my previous blog entry, "Bad Science: How Not To Do Image Analysis", I debunked the work of an anonymous troll who called himself "TechDude". TechDude used a sample biased, false data, and artifacts created by his own tools to conclude that the Obama certificate of live birth (COLB) was fake. TechDude also used false credentials (he impersonated another person) in order to...

Two weeks ago, the Palestinians and their anti-Zionist Israeli and international partners finally produced a smoking gun. They had a videotape of evil settlers brutally attacking poor, defenseless Palestinians as they innocently picked olives with their enlightened supporters in a grove by the Tel Rumeida neighborhood in Hebron. The local media went into a feeding frenzy. The footage led the television news broadcasts. Photos taken from the video were plastered across the front pages of the newspapers. Radio talk show hosts denounced the criminal settlers and celebrated the guileless Palestinians and their heroic Israeli supporters. The Olmert-Livni-Barak government was quick...

By now youâve all heard the Fox News report last week that âunnamedâ former McCain advisers leaked that Sarah Palin was confused about whether Africa was a continent, and which countries were in NAFTA. I was perfectly happy staying under the radar as an anonymous source for Fox Newsâ Carl Cameron, but now that Palin has accused her accusers of being âunprofessionalâŚjerksâŚcowards⌠taking things out of context, and then tried to spread something on national newsâ and begun to cast doubt on the Fox News report, maybe sheâs right to a certain extent. For those of us on the McCain...

Two well-known Canadian pranksters tricked Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin into thinking she was on the phone today with French President Nicolas Sarkozy. The conversation, captured on a Montreal radio program, was, in a word, embarrassing. (Politico's Ben Smith was among the first to pick up on reports from The Canadian Press.) The fake Sarkozy buttered Palin up by telling her he hoped she would become president some day. "Haha, maybe in eight years," Palin replied. Then the conversation turned to helicopter hunting, with a mention of Vice President Dick Cheney's infamous bad shot. "One of my favorite activities...

# sarah p Says: October 27, 2008 at 5:04 am Ok, I want to clear my conscious a little. Hopefully you could make a blog post to help some fellow clinton supporters out. I work for a campaign and cant wait for this week to be over. I was doing it for a job. I was not a fan of any candidate but over time grew to love HRC. The internal campaign idea is to twist, distort, humiliate and finally dispirit you. We pay people and organize people to go to all the online sites and play the part of...

UNITED NATIONS, October 20 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's permanent mission to the UN has received a letter from U.S. Republican presidential candidate John McCain asking for financial support of his election campaign, the mission said in a statement on Monday. "We have received a letter from Senator John McCain with a request for a financial donation to his presidential election campaign. In this respect we have to reiterate that neither Russia's permanent mission to the UN nor the Russian government or its officials finance political activities in foreign countries," the statement said. According to Ruslan Bakhtin, press secretary of the...

A first-class Twin Cities traveler was allowed to board a Northwest Airlines flight to the nation's capital this summer with a fake boarding pass, no photo identification and wearing an Osama bin Laden T-shirt under his coat as part of a test of airport security in this post-9/11 world. The breach of security, assisted by longtime airport security critic Bruce Schneier, is outlined in a first-person account in the November issue of Atlantic magazine. The article was written to illustrate that the federal Transportation Security Administration "represents an egregious waste of tax dollars," author Jeffrey Goldberg wrote. Goldberg added that...

I've watched Franks Luntz and his "focus groups" for years. There is no question in my mind that his "groups" are filled with planted leftists. There is now way in the world that even a random selection of "undecided" could be decidedly socialist after a debate that McCain won. Throw that crap out!! Punt the Luntz!!

(Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania 09/24/08) - Philip J. Berg, Esquire, the Attorney who filed suit against Barack H. Obama challenging Senator Obamas lack of qualifications to serve as President of the United States, announced today that Obama and Democratic National Committee [DNC] filed a Joint Motion to Dismiss on the last day to file a response, for the obvious purpose of delaying Court action in the case of Berg v. Obama, No. 08-cv-04083. Their joint motion indicates a concerted effort to avoid the truth by delaying the judicial process, although legal, by not resolving the issue presented: that is, whether...

Last week, Barack Obama challenged a crowd of supporters to approach Republicans and Independents and to argue with them and get in their face. And then do what? Lie? He immediately asked his supporters to talk about what a gun-toting, anti-tax nut he is. Lets take a moment to note the irony of having the biggest liberal in the Senate tell a liberal crowd to argue non-liberal positions on his behalf. Obama asked that when his supporters get in their friends faces and argue to tell them that he just loves the 2nd Amendment. The NRA, which I hear knows...

We have a further analysis into the Certificate of Live Birth documents (COLB) posted on Mr. Obama's website, fightthesmears.com. The COLB posted and analyzed on the Daily Kos and the COLB posted by factcheck.org, were found to be altered and forged. Ron Polarik specializes in computer graphics with over 20 years experience with computers, printers, and typewriters. He holds a PhD in Instructional Media, took on this project, prior to our asking, and has been working on it for several months. Mr. Polarik has prepared an updated and extensive report regarding these forgeries and altered COLBS. Mr. Polarik took it...

A silver cross regarded as one of the most important early Christian artifacts found in Britain is a modern fake, scientists confirmed Thursday. Alaska Governor Sarah Palin has kicked up a media firestorm since John McCain announced she would be his vice presidential running mate. In the two weeks since the announcement, Palin, 44, has been attacked for being a bad mom, an inexperienced bimbo and a vapid ex-beauty contestant. Many people have also been frantically searching the Internet for sexy photos of Sarah Palin, and apparently hit pay dirt when saucy photos of Palin toting a rifle wearing a star-spangled bikini were uncovered. However, those photos--like the rumors that Palin's son Trig is actually her grandson--are fake. Whether you agree with Palin's...

After reading that Lindsay Graham was pushing McCain hard to name Lieberman as the VP, just who the heck is Lindsay Graham? I remember him being one of the gang of 10 in the drilling for oil plan with the democrats. He stays so well hidden under the radar, is he really a democrat that has taken one of our offices to do harm from within? We need an education on this man, I believe that he may be doing our party more harm than good, please add any information on this man that you may have.

In June, the Obama campaign released a digitally scanned image of his birth certificate to quell speculative charges that he might not be a natural-born citizen. But the image prompted more blog-based skepticism about the document's authenticity. And recently, author Jerome Corsi, whose book attacks Obama, said in a TV interview that the birth certificate the campaign has is "fake." We beg to differ. FactCheck.org staffers have now seen, touched, examined and photographed the original birth certificate. We conclude that it meets all of the requirements from the State Department for proving U.S. citizenship. Claims that the document lacks a...

(CNN) Eager VP-watchers waiting for the text message announcement of Barack Obamas choice of running mate have gotten their answer: Its Hillary Clinton. And Tim Kaine. And Kathleen Sebelius. Since declaring the Democratic vice presidential pick would first be announced over e-mail and text message, several hoax announcements of the Illinois senator's choice have circulated, purporting to be from the Obama campaign. The latest came in e-mail Friday morning that hit the inboxes of many White House reporters, carrying the subject, "My Vice President."

Anybody watch the press conference? Reports I found with Google news search says it was pretty much a bomb, with more blurry pictures, sketchy DNA evidence, and promises of yet more experts reviewing the data in coming weeks. Sounds like they're lying out of there piehole and it is a fraud. Today was their chance to provide positive, absolute, undeniable evidence. And it doesn't seem to be there.

Beijing Olympics: 'Ethnic' children exposed as fakes in opening ceremony Another section of the Beijing Olympics opening ceremony has been exposed as faked - the children supposedly representing the country's 56 ethnic groups were in fact all from the same one, the majority Han Chinese race. China faked footprints of fire coverage in Olympics opening ceremony Viewers saw computer-generated film of fireworks procession Jonathan Watts in Beijing guardian.co.uk, Monday August 11 2008 16:23 BST Was it real? Was it faked? Does it matter? Chinese netizens are debating the computer simulated special effects used for one of high points of the Olympic opening ceremony, the footprints of fire that "stepped" from Tiananmen Square to the Bird's Nest stadium. Although the procession of fireworks actually took place, it was deemed too difficult and dangerous to film, so billions of viewers were treated instead to a computer-generated film of...

Independent analysts, working separately, have discovered that the original Hawaiian Certificate of Live Birth used in the fabrication of the Barack Obama "birth certificate" belongs to the Presidential candidate's younger half-sister, Maya. Examining the high resolution image originally posted by the "Daily Kos" left-wing blog and subsequently claimed as authentic by the campaign, and posted in lower resolution on the campaign official "Fight the Smears" website, at least two analysts have been able to independently discern the name "Maya Kassandra Soetoro" from artifacts left behind in the process of forging a new fake document for Barack from an image of...

Prominent journalist Seymour Hersh exposes details of a plan considered by US Vice President Dick Cheney on how to provoke war with Iran. "There was a dozen ideas proffered about how to trigger a war [with Iran]," Hersh said recently in reference to the subject of discussion at a meeting held at Cheney's office. In a July article published in the New Yorker, the Pulitzer Prize winning journalist revealed information about covert US operations carried out in Iran. He did not disclose the content of the talks with Cheney in his article. In a recent interview with Think Progress, however,...

Hello everyone, As you know I am not a very political person. I just wanted to pass along that Senator Obama came to Bagram Afghanistan for about an hour on his visit to "The War Zone". I wanted to share with you what happened. He got off the plane and got into a bullet proof vehicle, got to the area to meet with the Major General (2 Star) who is the commander here at Bagram. As the Soldiers where lined up to shake his hand he blew them off and didn't say a word as he went into the conference...

With his dashing chiselled features, swept back hair and perky bouffant the resemblance is unmistakable. The GITMO Road Show by: Brooke Rieder, July 10, 2008 Just past Bhutan and Texas, and a stones throw away from NASA, stood Guantanamo Bay, ablaze in vibrant orange. On the outskirts of the Smithsonian Folk-life Festival recently, alive with bluegrass music and monastic dancers, members of Amnesty International quietly presented a more somber message. With a 7x8 ft brightly colored replica of a Guantanamo Bay prison cell, the exhibit announced Welcome to Guantanamo: a global symbol of torture, presumed guilt, unfair trials, and no legal rightscourtesy of the U.S. government. Life-sized orange cutout figures lined the fence around the...

LONDON. A third of the Coptic sculptures at the Brooklyn Museum of Art are modern fakes. Its collection of late Egyptian sculpture was, until now, the second largest in North America. Brooklyn curator Dr Edna Russmann, who is concluding a study of the works, warns that other museums which acquired Coptic sculptures in the past 50 years are likely to face similar problems. The unmasking of the forgeries will be revealed in an exhibition on Coptic Sculpture in the Brooklyn Museum, opening on 13 February 2009. The Art Newspaper can reveal that ten of Brooklyns 30 sculptures are now deemed...

Did I just lose some brain matter, or did the Obama's Fact Check website, aka "Fight the Smears," retract the "Here is his birth certificate" statement? I could swear that this statement used to precede the image . Am I wrong? Did anyone else note the change? The way the page is now, there is no lead-in line to the image. BTW, I have a new post today explaining the possible reasons for blacking out certificate number.

Exclusive AVG has rejiggered the fake traffic it's spewing across the internet, causing new headaches for the world's webmasters. In late February, AVG paired its updated anti-virus engine with a real-time malware scanner that vets search engine results before you click on them. If you search Google, for instance, this LinkScanner automatically visits each address that turns up on Google's results page. According to the company, more than 20 million people have downloaded the new AVG 8, and this has caused a huge up-tick in traffic on sites across the web, including The Register. Because the scanner attempts to disguise...

"On the death penalty, Mr. Obama wrote in his memoir, The Audacity of Hope, (Crown, 2007), that the penalty does little to deter crime. But he added that society has the right to express outrage at heinous crimes. During his 2004 Senate campaign, he publicly supported the death penalty, even as he called the justice system flawed and urged a moratorium on executions." "Mr. Obama is an introspective candidate, and perhaps the best analyst of his own political style. I serve as a blank screen, he wrote in The Audacity of Hope, on which people of vastly different political stripes...

Recent photos of an "uncontacted tribe" of Indians near the Brazil-Peru border have sparked media reports of a hoax, but the organization that released the images defends its claims and actions. The photographs, which showed men painted red and black and aiming arrows skyward, were released in late May by Survival International, a London-based organization that advocates for tribal people worldwide. The release stated that "members of one of the world's last uncontacted tribes have been spotted and photographed from the air," and quoted the Brazilian government photographer saying, "there are some who doubt [the tribe's] existence" as justification for...

Fake bus stop keeps Alzheimer's patients from wandering off By Harry de Quetteville in Berlin Last Updated: 11:11PM BST 03/06/2008 German nursing homes are using a novel strategy to stop Alzheimer's patients from wandering off: phantom bus stops. The idea was first tried at Benrath Senior Centre in Düsseldorf, which pitched an exact replica of a standard stop outside, with one small difference: buses do not use it. The centre had been forced to rely on police to retrieve patients who wanted to return to their often non-existent homes and families. Then Benrath teamed up with a local care association...

Skin painted bright red, heads partially shaved, arrows drawn back in the longbows and aimed square at the aircraft buzzing overhead. The gesture is unmistakable: Stay Away. Behind the two men stands another figure, possibly a woman, her stance also seemingly defiant. Her skin painted dark, nearly black. The apparent aggression shown by these people is quite understandable. For they are members of one of Earth's last uncontacted tribes, who live in the Envira region in the thick rainforest along the Brazilian-Peruvian frontier. Thought never to have had any contact with the outside world, everything about these people is, and...
