It took two and a half years, but Port Colborne, Ont., resident Ian Thomson is finally done defending himself. First he fought the men who tried to murder him. Then, his own government. Mr. Thomson had long been involved in an increasingly angry property dispute with his neighbour. Early one August morning in 2010, four masked men shouting death threats began hurling firebombs at Mr. Thomson’s home. One of his pet dogs was injured; several fires in and around his home were set. Mr. Thomson, an experienced firearms instructor, called 911 immediately. He also armed himself with a .38 calibre...

Okay here's an idea. Forget about paying for the contraceptives for those brash, "busy",child-bearing years, whiny 50 and under, female crowd. Hire the workplace experienced, life-experienced, in-need-of-employment over 50 crowd. We are, after all, the ones that need our social security paid for. We might need more time off due to arthritis and aches and pains, but at least the medication for those discomforts aren't against the consciences of businesses. Males young and old would be a good choice, too. Haven't heard them whining about having to pay for "birth" control.

Marines from 3rd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, for whom this is their first combat tour, are faced with an array of missions that can be overwhelming to inexperienced Marines. Luckily, they have battle tested Marines like Cpl. Josh Z. Senbertrand, 21, from Cape May, N.J., to lead them. The short time between deployments has given birth to a generation of Marines tasting combat for the second, third, or even fourth time. HABBANIYAH -- War in a foreign place has once again given birth to innovative, confident and adaptable Marine leadership. Veterans of this conflict, like many previous campaigns throughout our...

The purpose of FreeRepublic.com's multiple message boards is to limit the topics for each board to particular topics. Posting the same message on all the boards defeats the purpose of multiple-boards for special topics. It is very annoying to see the same message on every bulletin board. PLEASE! DO THE READERS A FAVOR. STOP CROSS-POSTING YOUR MESSAGES!

Oklahoman Editorial: For Tom Cole (Oklahoma 4th District seat of J.C. Watts, Jr.) 2002-10-28 Seldom has Oklahoma had a chance to send a more ready-made congressman to Washington than Tom Cole. With a wealth of political experience and contacts, Cole would hardly be a neophyte in the House if voters in the 4th Congressional District elect him. We hope they do, not just for the district that encompasses much of south central Oklahoma, but for all of the state. Cole would have an immediate impact in Congress, as a well-respected successor to the retiring Rep. J.C. Watts. Cole's resume is...
