""Conservatives saw the savagery of 9/11 in the attacks and prepared for war; liberals saw the savagery of the 9/11 attacks and wanted to prepare indictments and offer therapy and understanding for our attackers...I don't know about you, but moderation and restraint is not what I felt when I watched the twin towers crumble to the ground, a side of the Pentagon destroyed, and almost 3,000 of our fellow citizens perish in flames and rubble...Let me just put this in fairly simple terms: Al Jazeera now broadcasts the words of Senator Durbin to the Mideast, certainly putting our troops in...

This weekend Sacramento will be hosting the Sacramento Pride Parade. Sounds innocent Huh? Well the event is put on by the Lambda Community Center with is a Gay, Lesbian, Tran gendered Bisexual advocacy group. So in actuality, it is a Gay Pride Parade. Well I was talking with a representative of a local pro-family advocacy group and in her frustration, she asked, “What can we do?” And before I could even think I blurted out. “We should have a Straight Pride Parade!” She was so excited about he idea I could hardly contain her. She was ready to start organizing....

Well-meant biker gathering's time has passed By Robert F. Dorr Soon, it will be Memorial Day. On May 30, ceremonies will honor Americans who died in battle. The most important commemoration will take place at Arlington National Cemetery, just across the river from Washington. There will be speeches, hymns and moments of silent reflection. There is a right way to observe Memorial Day. This isn't it. I'm not against bikers. This column has regularly supported military members who choose to ride rather than drive. ("Military puts up too many obstacles for members who ride motorcycles," Army Times, April 29, 2002)....

The United American Committee with partners is organizing a military appreciation parade. If you can volunteer in any way to help organize this tremendous event, please contact us. The parade will be in Los Angeles and is scheduled for mid 2006, not to be in conjunction with any holiday. In the days following the close of WWI and WWII, Americans showed up in large numbers to support our troops homecoming. Military parades were in every major city across the nation. In these times, we must continue that spirit of pride in our servicemen by showing our support for them. We...

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton yesterday stood behind her indicted former fund-raiser after prosecutors said Ted Kennedy's brother-in-law taped him making "incriminating" statements about her Senate campaign's Hollywood gala. "The Senate campaign committee fully cooperated with the investigation. [David] Rosen worked hard for the campaign and we trust that when all the facts are in, he will be cleared," Clinton lawyer David Kendall said in an e-mail to The Post. Rosen goes to trial May 3 on charges of falsely underreporting the costs of the August 2000 gala — thus inflating the amount of campaign cash ostensibly raised for Clinton at...

Being a female Junior at Seton Hall University, I am constantly bombarded by anti-feminine ideologies. Between liberal professors and administration, it is very hard to embrace the dignity of being a woman. It is often stereotyped here that if a woman doesn't provide the main income in her household, pushing around her man... then she has given in to being barefoot, pregnant, and in the kitchen. After searching for a positive Female Role model, I came across the renowned Dr. Alice von Hildebrand. I was also able, through Campus Ministry, to get her on Campus to speak on "The Privilege...

SACRAMENTO (AP) - Despite Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's repeated denunciations of steroid use among bodybuilders, the annual bodybuilding contest that bears his name has come under the spotlight for steroid use ever since federal drug agents swept in to subpoena current and past competitors last year. Schwarzeneggger, a former bodybuilder and seven-time Mr. Olympia winner, will be on hand again this year at the Arnold Classic in Columbus, Ohio, scheduled to begin on March 5. He's attended the festival every year since it first began in 1989. The raid by federal agents at last year's gathering helped lead to the indictments...

"The creation of the United States of America is the central event of the past four hundred years." Thus does Walter A. McDougall of the University of Pennsylvania begin the first volume of his acclaimed new American history, Freedom Just Around the Corner (HarperCollins). Not surprisingly, this central event has evoked a wide range of opinions. Tens of millions of immigrants have voted with their feet to slough off prior allegiances and join the boisterous experiment that makes "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" its official goal. The result has been an astounding success. "We dominate every field of human endeavor...

NEW YORK – Mayor Curt Pringle, Anaheim's pitch man for bringing the 2008 Republican National Convention to Orange County, hit a bump in the road Wednesday. The governor didn't show for his party. And neither did the kind of influential Republicans Pringle needs to back the bid of the home of Disneyland to host the GOP in four years. Pringle had a lavish spread laid out late Wednesday afternoon at the Ritz-Carlton in lower Manhattan, a new hotel with a spectacular view of the New York Harbor. Carved meats, Caesar salad, pasta, an open bar and hors d'oeuvres. Beach Boys...

Young Conservatives of Texas are holding a nationwide Rally For America on March 22nd, 2003 at 1PM Central Standard Time. We want all US citizens who support our troops and our country to come out, join together and show the world we are behind our President. The Texas rally will be held at the state capitol, and I am assuming that other states will do the same. It would be a great help if more FReepers would fill out their profile page. Come on now; some of you have been here for years and have not so much as a state flag flying. You don't need to tell your life story, but at least a state or national flag would help. For instance, I know there's more Wisconsin FReepers out there than are on the WI location page. How can anyone alert you to the upcoming (state) FReeper event UNLESS your screen name is on the (state) page?
